Overview: AWV is headquartered in Holland, Ohio and is part of the Mestek Architectural Group. In addition to AWV, Mestek's Architectural activities include Linel and a strategic alliance and exclusive license agreement with Colt Group USA.
The emphasis for these companies is in providing products and solutions that beautify and improve the performance of buildings through Intelligent Envelopes™
AWV's Offering
AWV offers a broad range of architectural products including:
Architectural Louvers and Penthouses
Brise Soleil Fixed Sunshades
Architectural Grilles and Vision Screens
All of AWV's architectural products are designed with aesthetics foremost in mind and are constructed of virtually maintenance-free light weight extruded aluminum. AWV can provide certified structural calculations when requested, to ensure structural integrity.
AWV's Record & Capabilities
AWV has more than 100 years of unsurpassed experience in the design and supply of architectural products. AWV's portfolio with tens of thousands of sucessful projects including some of the largest most complex in both new and renovation applications.
AWV has a state-of-the-art wind-driven rain test facility. We can test the performance of our products including any special configuration developed for a specific project. Witness testing by clients can be arranged.
AWV archectural products can be provided in mill, anodized, baked enamel, PVDF (aka Kynar) and other special finishes. AWV is a licensed applicator for Akzo Nobel, PPG and Valspar to meet AAMA painting (2603, 2604 & 2605) specifications.
American Warming and Ventilating has been producing the highest quality louvers for over 100 years. We've lead the industry in innovative louver design technology since 1963, the year we patented the very first Drainable Blade Louver. Since then it has been the accepted method of efficiently reducing water entrainment. In 1990, AWV received a patent for the first Sightproof-Drainable Blade Louver.
Over our years of ground-breaking work, we've been instrumental in the development of louver testing standards. We were also a charter member of the Louver and Damper Division of AMCA.
Penthouses provide for ventilation or exhaust air, while offering defense against vision, water and noise intrusion. In addition, the penthouse designs give the architect aesthetic flexibility to enhance the building's appearance. AWV's broad line of penthouses address these design objectives.
Brise Soleil fixed sunshades give the architect aesthetic flexibility to beautify the building's appearance, while providing a degree of solar shading. AWV offers an extraordinary range of Brise Soleil fixed sunshades in a variety of shapes, finishes, mounting arrangements for a dramatic aesthetic effect.
Cantilever Systems are most effective on facades where it is possible both to reduce the amount of high angle sun in the summer, but also to allow low angle sun in the winter, which can provide some passive solar heating.
Volume Control Dampers are designed for a steady range of pressures and velocities. The performance of the parallel or opposed blade design for clean air systems allows superior performance in both constant and variable pressure drop applications.
This series is counterbalanced and designed to effectively prevent the reversal of clean air in a variety of systems. Models have capabilities ranging to 6400 FPM velocity, 15" WG differential pressure, Class 2 leakage, and 250°F temperature.
Isolation Dampers serve as a controlled design to operate in clean air. It provides isolation from toxic gases, radioactive contamination, and dangerous pressures.
AWV manufactures inlet vanes for applications requiring reduction of expended power and wear on heavy duty fans. They pre-spin the air entering the fan system, therefore reducing energy consumption by the fan motors and increasing efficiency.
We manufacture a variety of 2-way and 4-way diffusers.
These units are typically mounted to the end of a duct in manufacturing plants to disperse air in multiple directions via individually adjustable single thickness or airfoil blades.
When it comes to marine industry applications, AWV has an exceptional record spanning over 40 years of supplying its products to the US Navy, Coast Guard, offshore oil platform construction, and shipbuilders around the globe. In addition, the majority of our marine dampers meet MIL-S-901C/D high shock specifications, US Maritime Commission Standards S38-1-31 and 32, and US Coast Guard Requirements.
AWV manufactures top-quality dampers to meet and exceed transit applications such as large scale projects, i.e. road tunnels, rail tunnels, and underground metro stations. Tunnel fire dampers are designed to be used as life saving equipment to ensure that the extractions of smoke and toxic fumes during a fire are efficiently maintained during the evacuation of passengers. These dampers also provide a protective barrier to keep fire away from other capital investments such as ventilating fans and silencers.
Our experience in serving the nuclear industry covers almost every nuclear facility in the United States and many international facilities as well. Our products have been through and passed the most rigorous requirements of seismic and environmental events. AWV nuclear dampers are made for wherever durability, reliability, and high performance are required. We meet 10CFR 50 Appendix B, and NQA-1 requirements, plus we are also regularly audited by NUPIC (Note: AWV is audited by NUPIC under the name Reed Air Products).
We design and manufacture many, many different types of dampers for use in a variety of applications. However, you may not have found the exact damper that meets your needs. That's where our Specialty Damper offerings come in.
