Overview:
Florence Manufacturing is the nation’s leading manufacturer of superior quality mailboxes and accessories for centralized distribution and collection of mail and packages. We are proud to trace our heritage of founding and acquired companies to the late 1800s. For more than a century, the Florence line of postal specialties has maintained industry leadership by offering consistently superior product quality and rapid, reliable customer service. We provide technical support and customer service through both our centralized customer service operation and network of sales and manufacturer's representatives.
Our commitment to craftsmanship continues to be shown through not only being the first manufacturer in our industry to be ISO 9001:2000 certified, but that we continually surpass all required audits as well. We strive to be environmentally friendly with strong recycling programs and business practices and are pleased to be a committed community partner in our headquarters location of Manhattan, Kansas.
Founded by Saulia Florence and Herbert Dix in 1934 as Florence Manufacturing Company, and incorporated as Florence Corporation in 1937, we have continually strived to meet the changing market needs. As a dynamic, growing company, we acquired Auth Electric and started doing business as Auth-Florence Manufacturing in 1990. This hundred-year young company expanded our product offering to include Auth-Chimes – a quality product which has since been seen on the popular Seinfeld TV series.
We significantly expanded our product offering once again with the acquisition of the American Device Postal Specialties line in July 1998. Two short years later, Florence Corporation acquired Cutler Manufacturing Corporation - a venerable century old company that had manufactured postal products for the likes of the Empire State Building and the John Hancock Building.
Being awarded the sole supplier for the USPS Outdoor Delivery Equipment contract in 2005 firmly solidified Florence’s position as a pillar of the industry. We are also extremely proud to have been awarded the U.S. Postal Service Quality Supplier Award in 2003 and again in 2005 as well as the prestigious U.S. Postal Service Supplier Excellence Award in 2006. Having received a significantly above average score on its 2008 USPS audit places Florence as 'one of the best in class'.
In 2007, the Florence Corporation was acquired by Gibraltar Industries. GIBRALTAR is a leading manufacturer, processor, and distributor of products for the building, industrial, and vehicular markets. The company serves customers in a variety of industries in all 50 states and throughout the world. It has approximately 4,000 employees and operates 84 facilities in 27 states, Canada, China, England, Germany and Poland. Gibraltar’s common stock (NASDAQ: ROCK) is a component of the S&P SmallCap 600 and the Russell 2000® Index.
Florence was pleased to expand our product line once again in order to provide outdoor site solutions for your neighborhood mail centers and pedestrian settings. Developing a business partnership with Victor Stanley Inc in 2008, we introduced a line of in-stock site furnishings which complement our centralized mail delivery equipment. Also in 2008, the USPS approved Florence as the first company to manufacturer and sell commercially the officially licensed cluster box unit.
Today, we are proud to have built relationships with the most extensive national dealer network in our industry - which enables us to provide you with local expertise in developing your specific mail center projects. We continue to provide the most comprehensive line of USPS approved products in the market and are working in collaboration with teams of customers, dealers, architects and builders alike to develop additional complimentary products. Florence Manufacturing is proud to be your partner in mailbox and site solutions!
