Balco Grating enhances the appearance of any area where an attractive drainage system is desired, such as fountains, plazas, or planters. Maximum tread spacing of ¼” (6 mm) ensures pedestrian safety and concealed locking mechanisms keep grates secure.
Balco is the premier choice when your project requires quality trench systems. Our aluminum cover plates provide the durability you would expect from steel or cast-iron, along with benefits such as welded corners and lightweight removable covers.
Access covers are typically square and sold as units; trench covers usually have linear profiles.
Balco offers a variety of two component systems, in which sub-channels are installed during construction and safety treads are installed after construction. This prevents damage and costly cleanup of the safety treads and allows for tread replacement if ever necessary. Two options are available: the screw-secured system, designed for safety, durability and long term value; and the drive-fit system, when concealed fasteners are also preferred.
IllumiTread™ photoluminescent (glow-in-the-date) stair nosings, aisle and handrail markers increase the safety and efficiency of stairways and egress pathways during the emergency evacuation of a building. IllumiTread™ stair nosings provide excellent slip resistance and can be used in both new construction and retro-fit applications. Meets NYC MEA 243-05-M Vol. II BR: 41-10-7 and MEA 234-05-M Vol. II BR: 106-29-20 and ASTM specifications.
