wall air space & moisture control
CavClears original products (Insulation System, Masonry and Stone Mats) were invented and patented by an architect in response to concerns about the importance of maintaining a completely clear air space while working on masonry designs. Keeping excess mortar and other construction debris out of the drainage area need to be a priority at the job site. The inventor thought, If there was just a fail-safe way for maintaining the air space, then not only would mortar waste and other debris be minimized, but the drainage wall would function properly and the masonry design would not suffer costly moisture problems. Once the products were designed and patented, many additional benefits began to surface, and the CavClear product line was born.
The CavClear team along with Archovations, Inc. keeps abreast of new technologies insuring CavClear continues to be the leader in the industry through the update and development of existing and new product lines.
The CavClear® Insulation System features the CavClear® Masonry Mat factory bonded to rigid insulation. The Masonry Mat will not allow mortar to make contact with the insulation. The CavClear® Insulation System is installed full-height behind brick or stone in an insulated masonry wall to provide a continuous drainage area.
CavClear Masonry Mat not only protects the weeps in a masonry design, it also addresses mortar obstructions throughout the height of the air space. Mortar bridges are problematic anywhere in the wall, not just at the flashing levels.
Mortar obstructions and droppings which impede drainage are completely prevented by installing full-height protection using CavClear Masonry Mat.
It is important to design and construct an effective rainscreen system that will provide a means for drainage and ventilation. Moisture will find its way into exterior wall systems by way of gaps, penetrations, cracks in the surface of the cladding material, and cracked mortar joints. Since it provides the drainage and ventilation function for the system, CavClear Rainscreen Drainage Mat is an integral part of a successful rainscreen wall design.
The unique notch feature of CavClear Weep Vents facilitates rapid drying. Open-head joint weeps increase ventilation over rope wicks. For better pressure equalization, install weep vents at both the top and bottom of the wall.
CavQuiet minimizes sound intrusion through walls, floors, and ceilings. What makes CavQuiet unique from competitors is not only does it absorb sound, it also contains a vapor barrier along with a finished foil that reflects temperature.
CavQuiet minimizes sound with one of the highest performing decibel ratings on the market. In addition the vapor barrier dramatically reduces odors that can pass through and between walls, floors and ceilings. For urban residential developments, this means you not only won't hear your neighbors' music, you won't smell their taste in cuisine either. CavQuiet has gone a step further in adding a finished foil surface which reflects temperature aiding in overall climate control.
CavTherm can be used for both exterior and interior wall insulation. It has the same application uses as traditional insulation options, but without the skin and other respiratory problems commonly associated with other fiberglass and spray-in applications. In addition, CavTherm has a Class A fire rating, exceptional sound absorption, and one of the highest R-values for stud wall cavity insulation on the market today.
