Overview:
Roof hugger™ is the only single piece retro-fit sub-purlin attachment system on the market today. They provide a proven structurally correct connection between the existing building and new screwdown or standing seam roof system.
Huggers are produced in 10' lengths by a special high-speed computer controlled punch press that can be programmed to clear the profile of any existing roof panel (screwdown , corrugated, or standing seam). They can be specified in any height to allow for additional insulation in the cavity between old and new roof (lowest profile 3/8" above top of existing high ribs). The top flange, normally 2", can be specified in larger widths, should new standing seam clips require a greater bearing surface.
The product is fully laboratory tested, design load charts are available to assist the architect or engineer with the correct gage selection. All material is G-90 galvanized. 16 gauge is 50 KSI structural grade steel.
The product significantly reduces labor cost over commonly used, make-do, multi-piece framing systems. The 10' lengths are simply dropped into position over the existing purlins and standard #12/14 1-1/4" T-2 self drilling fasteners (generally 2/l.f.) are drilled into the existing building purlins via pre-punched, bottom flange holes in the Roof Hugger base flange.
