Overview:
With more than 45 years of roofing and waterproofing experience in locations all over the world, Sika Sarnafil is the worldwide leader in thermoplastic membrane technology.
Sika Sarnafil provides thermoplastic, single-ply roofing membranes for a wide range of non-residential roofing and waterproofing applications. With a large range of membrane thickness, which ranges from 48 mils to 96 mils, we offer a membrane for any application. And both of our G series (glass reinforced for adhering) and S series (scrim reinforced for mechanically attaching) membranes come in energy efficient, EnergySmart® white.
Sika Sarnafil’s EnergySmart Roof system features a white, tan, light grey or patina green reflective, lacquer coated surface. These PVC roof membranes have been proven to reduce the amount of energy required to maintain comfort in an air-conditioned building by decreasing heat flow through the building envelope. “Cool roofing systems” like these Sika Sarnafil systems can save money, improve occupant comfort, increase a roof’s longevity, and reliably protect a building and its contents.
Below is an overview of our available systems and services:
- Adhered Roof Systems (Bareback and Feltback)
- Sarnafast System (Mechanically Attached System)
- Express System (Double-weld Mechanically Attached System)
- Engineered System (High Wind Mechanically Attached System)
- Décor Roof System (Alternative to Standing Seam Metal Roofing)
- Plaza Deck Systems (3 Waterproofing Options)
- Green Roof Systems (Vegetated)

Green Roof Systems
|
Vegetated roofing is one of the most exciting developments in sustainable building design. Depending on load capabilities and other application-driven requirements, green roofs can be planted with herbs, grasses, flowers, even trees, in an exciting variety of colors, textures, scents and heights. Patios and walkways can become a useable part of the roof environment. Today it’s clear: vegetated roofs offer many social, environmental and economic benefits.

Sarnafast
|
This strong mechanically attached system is your best choice for single-ply roofing systems when speed and ease of installation are important. Sarnafast features metal plates fastened in the seam overlap spaced according to the roof’s wind uplift requirements. It is designed to meet wind conditions on many building types.

Express
|
This unique pvc roofing system features a polymer batten strip fastened between two welds in the membrane overlap. Fasteners are spaced according to wind uplift requirements. Sarnafil’s Sarnamatic welding machine creates a weld on both sides of the batten in one pass. This exceptionally strong single-ply roof attachment system is ideal for use with today’s wider membrane sheets as it offers superior wind uplift strength as well as speed of installation.

Engineered
|
If your roof is subject to severe or extreme wind uplift forces, such as high-rise buildings or facilities located in coastal areas, this is your best choice. You can customize or “engineer” the row and fastener spacing to meet any specified wind load. This system is so strong that Sika Sarnafil offers wind warranty protection of up to 120 mph. Adhered Roof
|
The Self-Adhered system provides building owner’s added waterproofing security by having the waterproofing membrane bonded directly to the structural concrete deck while increasing installation productivity for waterproofing contractors.
This system is an excellent choice for intensive and extensive green roofs and plaza decks receiving landscaping, pavers or concrete overburden. It can also be used in split slab parking decks, planters, tunnels, balconies and terrace applications.

Décor
|
Realize your design with Sika Sarnafil’s Décor Roof Systems. Décor is the ideal choice for new or existing buildings that call for the appearance of a metal roof, yet require maximum watertight performance. Décor Roof Systems deliver.
Aesthetics of metal roofs, but watertight integrity of hot-air welded thermoplastic membrane.
Design flexibility to express your creativity as never before-regardless of roof slope, shape, or complexity.
Proven performance spanning forty years of delivering long-lasting, high-quality roofing systems.
Low life-cycle costs driven by minimal maintenance requirements and exceptional system longevity.
Décor Roof Systems provide the look of metal roofs with both standing-seam Décor Profile and batten-seam Décor Batten configurations. Décor Batten, often specified for larger or elevated roofs, provides an alternative design for more visual impact.

RhinoBond
|
Enhance wind uplift resistance for single-ply roofing while using fewer plates and fasteners with Sika Sarnafil’s RhinoBond system.
Sika Sarnafil RhinoBond is an alternative attachment system for Sika Sarnafil roofing membranes. The RhinoBond system eliminates membrane fastener penetration by welding the membrane directly to the specially coated plates used to secure the insulation or hardboard to the deck. The result is a roofing system that uses fewer plates and fasteners while enhancing the wind uplift resistance.
The RhinoBond system uses a patented stand-up induction welding machine to fuse the membrane to the plates. Simply place the machine above the plate, activate it for the required cycle (only a few seconds) and then place a RhinoBond weighted magnet on top of the plate for a minimum of 60 seconds to assure a strong bond. For a pvc roofing system requiring a 1-90 PSF rating, you will use ten fewer fasteners and plates for every square installed when compared to a typical in-seam, mechanically-attached system using a 10 ft wide membrane fastened 12 inch on center.

Grid System
|
The Grid System offers a unique “containment grid” feature that reduces the risk of expensive removal and replacement of overburden. As the name implies, the area to be waterproofed is marked out in a grid pattern, with each section becoming its own individual containment field. This is accomplished by adhering strips of waterproofing membrane around the perimeter of each grid section to act as a sub membrane waterstop. Should a leak occur in the future, the containment grid isolates the water, eliminating any potential spread from one section to another.
