COMPANY OVERVIEW

The FEC Advantage
FEC Heliports is a division of the Federal Equipment Company. FEC was founded in 1982 and began as a small replacement parts supplier for material handling equipment in the US ARMY, US NAVY, US Coast Guard and shipyards throughout the world. Federal Equipment Company quickly grew into a complete engineering and manufacturing company and was recently awarded a 55 million dollar contract with Huntington Ingalls Industries, formerly Northrop Grumman, to build and install the new FEC designed weapons elevators for the next generation of US Navy aircraft carriers. It was our extensive military experience that paved the way for us to expand into the commercial market in 1996 and open the doors for FEC Heliports.

Design Team Experience
Experience counts when you're landing helicopters. Over the past 20 years, FEC Heliports has designed, manufactured and installed more rooftop and aluminum helipads than anyone else in the world. Unlike most of our competitors, FEC Heliports has an extensive in-house staff consisting of structural engineers, experienced heliport designers and consultants as well as a complete staff of installers and fabricators. We are staffed to handle multiple heliport projects and still give your project the first class attention it deserves.

A Better Product
FEC Heliports' engineering department has spent many years perfecting the HELISLAT (rooftop) design. With over 250 rooftop installations in the US and abroad, FEC Heliports' HELISLAT design has been consistently proven with installations in every climate and under every condition without fail. FEC Heliports has its own 70,000 square foot production facility. Why is this important? This facility allows us to design, build and inspect all of our heliport equipment before it arrives at your facility. This includes not only the deck and safety netting, but also the lighting, fire suppression skids and snowmelting skids. We can also design and build our own structural steel for decks and walkways, and our facilities allow us to pre-assemble your helipad to ensure proper fitting once we get to the jobsite. These are just a few of the details that the FEC Heliports team goes through to ensure that your experience with our company is successful. Let us show you why FEC Heliports is the best choice for your project!

Rooftop Design image

Rooftop Design

FEC Heliports has designed the perfect system to support any rooftop application. Our HELISLAT is an aluminum extrusion made of 6000 Series aluminum with an internal cavity available for snowmelting. This design offers the strength of concrete with the bonus of low maintenance, high durability, and is lightweight enough to work on every application. Our consultants will visit your facility to help you determine the best location for your rooftop pad per the FAA Guidelines. Our in-house staff of engineers will help you coordinate the design and our experienced installation crew will make the installation easy! We have designed, fabricated and installed more rooftop heliports than anyone else in the world and we would consider it a privilege to help provide your facility with the safest, most cost-effective option on the market today.
Parking Design image

Parking Design

Do you have limited space on your campus for a helipad? Is parking at a premium? The gallery provides some of the many solutions that FEC Heliports has designed, manufactured and installed for our customers over the years. From elevated structures on parking decks to canopy-style structures that you can drive under, our aluminum helipad systems have endless possibilities. Call us for more information to learn how FEC can help you build the best helipad for your facility.
Ground Design image

Ground Design

FEC Heliports has designed a great alternative to the typical concrete helipad. Our HELOMAT is specifically designed for ground or retrofit applications. The 1" x 1' wide aluminum panels fit together in a tongue & groove fashion that makes installation a breeze. Not only will this pad never deteriorate the way a concrete pad will, but it can be moved as your facility expands. It has an internal cavity specifically designed for our state-of-the-art snowmelt equipment. If your current concrete pad is deteriorating, our HELOMAT can be put right over the top of your existing pad, providing you with a new low maintenance surface. Preparation for a new ground helipad with our HELOMAT is as simple as the compacted aggregate base that you would use for a concrete pad. Let our consultants visit your facility to make sure your location will meet the clearances recommended in the current FAA Guidelines.

Offshore and Shipboard Helipads

FEC Heliports has designed and installed many shipboard and offshore helipads. Our reputation as a company that gets the job done in the healthcare and traditional helipad industry has helped us break into this challenging environment. Our aluminum helipads are an excellent choice for the type of extreme weather conditions these helipads incur, while also providing better design options with our lightweight material. Retractable safety netting for shipboard applications is just another example of how our engineers continue to design beyond traditional industry standards.
