Overview:
Mitigation Technologies develops and deploys innovative life-saving security products. The company’s premier product is the Safetydrape® Blast Curtain. Designed in response to the statistic “80-85% of injuries sustained during a blast event can be attributed directly to glass shards,” Safetydrape® has rapidly grown to be a global, facility protection system. Clients include the U.S. Armed Forces, Civilian Agencies, General Services Administration, foreign governments, as well as petrochemical and pharmaceutical industries. Due to demand and minimum requirements of building security and standoff distances, Mitigation Technologies has expanded into the product areas of EMI/RFI Shielding as well as Blast and Ballistic Structure Reinforcing Composites. As Mitigation Technologies has expanded over the years, the company has remained true to its mission for integrity and continual improvement. The company and its worldwide network of dealers are dedicated to providing excellent service.

Glass Hazard Mitigation System

Mitigation Technologies Safetydrape® Blast Curtain System

Safetydrape® is a patented drapery system designed to mitigate flying glass shards and debris caused by a bomb blast. The product protects lives by venting intense blast loads while safely capturing deadly flying projectiles. Safetydrape® is also a fire retardant product that meets all NFPA fire codes for window coverings in commercial buildings.

The Safetydrape® system includes the drape itself, anchorage hardware and a trough which is placed at the sill of the window for holding the additional length of drape necessary for the operation of the system. The drape is anchored at the head of the window (either inside or outside mount) while remaining unanchored at the sill. Pressure from a blast unfurls the drape from the trough to create an envelope that captures flying debris. Once the blast pressure dissipates, the drape deposits the glass shards and debris on the floor at the base of the window.

The Only Blast Curtain Made in America.

Standard troughs are made of Kynar painted 24 gauge galvanized steel (as used in the roofing industry). Standard metal finishes include Sandstone, Bone White, Stone White, Classic Green, Musket Gray, and Dark Bronze. Standard troughs carry a 30-year factory warranty. Custom troughs have been made out of extruded aluminum, custom woods, and bronze. Contact Us to request a swatch board by mail, courier, or delivered in person. Custom troughs are also available.

Mitigation Technologies Anchorage Hardware

Anchorage hardware has been engineered and tested as a system. All components are zinc coated for long life and can be anchored into any wall substrate or window sill, as well as on the inside or outside of window openings. Extended side brackets are available to accommodate mini blinds or window shades. CAD drawings are available upon request. Let one of our engineers assist in bracket and trough location, selection, and insertion into your drawings.

Structure Reinforcing Composites

Mitigation Technologies Safetywire® Model #S100R

Safetywire™ is a sheet of woven steel cords, which when adhered with a polymer to walls and columns, creates added strength and fragmentation control in the event of a bomb blast, natural disaster, or direct impact. The usual approach to structural reinforcement is the addition of more steel and more concrete. This “heavy fortress” approach is not an easy retrofit; can be costly, time-consuming, and lead to lengthy facility downtime. Safetywire™ has been used as a composite for up-armoring vehicles and increasing the blast resistance of structures, including industrial and antiterrorism capacities, as well as forced entry.

Mitigation Technologies PAXCON® Polyurea PX-3350

PAXCON® offers a revolutionary development in blast mitigation with PX-3350. Known in military and research circles as an Energy Resistant Coating (ERC), the PAXCON® coating is flexible, yet stronger than steel. This means that walls outfitted with the unique PX-3350 coating can withstand explosions up to 20 times greater that a normal, uncoated wall. In the event of an explosion, the PAXCON® coated walls flex, but stay together. PX-3350 can be applied to numerous types of structural materials, including wood, steel, plasterboard, concrete, brick, block and more. Airforce Research Lab (ARL) claims that the application of PAXCON®s PX-3350 can reduce standoff distances by up to 50%. PAXCON® as a standalone product has proven through test and live fire demonstrations to be a superior retrofit product for the reductions of effects on buildings from blast.

Safetywire™ with PAXCON polyurea allows for an easier, lighter weight, and less expensive solution with an equivalent result. Safetywire™ with PAXCON polyurea is a comprehensive structural reinforcement solution for Blast Mitigation and Force Mitigation. Safetywire& #153; steel cords offer strength while the PAXCON polyurea creates a tough elastic skin to prevent wall fragments from entering an occupied space and harming building occupants. Along with saving lives, the Safetywire™ with PAXCON polyurea retrofit technique can reduce required standoff distances by at least 50%. The application of Safetywire™ with PAXCON ensures that the exterior wall of a building can survive a bomb blast without breaking apart and contributing to the fragment problem to inhabitants inside of the structure.
