Granite

Available in a striking array of colors, granite’s durability and longevity make it ideal for kitchen countertops and floors. Granite not only resists heat, it is also one of the most bacteria-resistant kitchen surfaces, is nearly impossible to scratch and, with proper cleaning, will not stain under normal use.

Marble

It's as old as time, but as popular as ever. At one point marble was only seen in office buildings; today it’s often the stone of choice for countertops and backsplashes in value-conscious private homes. While marble is softer and less dense than granite making it more susceptible to damage, if you seal it correctly you shouldn’t have a problem. And with its dramatic veining and color range (varying from dark reds, oranges, and greens, to soft pinks and beiges) even some staining gives it a wonderful ‘old world’ patina over time.

Onyx

Onyx was used historically in the creation of altars and other places of worship. Its main attractions are translucency, incredible color variations and natural patterns, which form unique and intricate designs. When backlit, Onyx panels become almost three-dimensional jewels, and have become very popular interior design elements, especially when made of yellow or brown. Onyx can also be used for wall cladding and various stonework projects, including bath surrounds and vanity units. Thin panels made of Onyx can also be experimented with as an alternative to stained glass windows, again due to its incredible translucent properties.

Limestone

Limestone use in kitchens can make a country style décor seem even more relax; or a Mediterranean room can take on a trendy tone. Limestone can also be custom “sculptured” with a wave or a curve, allowing for even more personalization. At the other end of the design spectrum, limestone lends itself beautifully to the more minimalist, monochromatic look, featuring softer colors and clean, straight lines.

Travertine

Travertine is a unique form of Limestone, which can be used for both interior and exterior decoration, as it is an extremely durable material. Possessing a wide range of colors and designs, Travertine can be used for flooring, entries, garden rooms, kitchens, and bathrooms – inside and out! This strong substance is resistant to heat, moisture and stains; and, over time, it acquires a unique natural beauty all its own. To lend a formal look to homes, buildings and monuments, many designers employ Travertine for its beauty, strength and less porous qualities.

Soapstone

The unfinished color of Soapstone is gray-green; but after many years of use, it will mature to a dark green – almost black color of rich hue and density. With a semi-soft surface, this characteristic is appreciated by many designers and homeowners who value the patina of use – whether in an antique tabletop or on a kitchen counter. Appropriate for use in many design styles – from rustic ranch to traditional early American – Soapstone is an excellent design component…and one that gets even better with use.
