LEED product data for filters and filtration
Overview:
SONITEC Inc. was founded in 1986 to manufacture and offer innovative products and technologies aimed at improving the quality of water. Vortisand® filters remove suspended solids down to 0 0,45 micron. Their unique design provides high performance using a concept that combines centrifugal separation and sand filtration. Vortisand® filters are widely used for side stream cooling water filtration in order to improve the energy efficiency and environmental performances. Vortisand® filters are also used for other applications such as rainwater polishing, water reuse and pre RO.

Invest wisely – make the right choice the first time.

Unique design provides high performance using a concept that combines centrifugal separation and sand filtration. Vortisand® filters are widely used for side stream cooling water filtration in order to improve the energy efficiency and environmental performances. Vortisand® filters are also used for other applications such as rainwater polishing, water reuse and pre RO.

Advantages
• Achieves very fine filtration (down to 0.45 micron) at high rate, using 80 to 90% less water for backwashing compared to traditional sand filters.
• Provides a filtration 10 to 20 times finer than traditional sand filters. Continuous filtering removes suspended solids.
• Reduced filtration flow rates required.
• Reduced backwash volumes reduce water usage and installation cost.
• Compact configuration for optimal space utilization.
• Low maintenance requirements.
• Easy Installation plug and play.
• Hundreds of worldwide satisfied customers (commercial, industrial and institutional).

Vortisand filters are widely used for cooling water side stream filtration, rainwater polishing and water reuse. Our filter has been used on several LEED certified buildings.

• Efficiency optimization of cooling / heating equipment with side stream filtration
• 5-10% energy saving by optimizing chiller efficiency
• Greenhouse gas emission reduction by reducing energy consumption
• 10-15% cooling water chemical reduction with 95% particle removal
• Rain Water polishing for flushing toilets and providing makeup water to the cooling tower
• Vortisand uses less water than conventional MM filter during the backwash

Cooling Water

Vortisand® filters are widely used for side stream cooling/heating water filtration in order to improve the energy efficiency and environmental performances.

Typically, 85-90% of the particles found in the recirculation water right before the heat exchangers (in normal operation) are smaller than 5 micron in size. Vortisand® is the best available system to solve your cooling water problem. Airborne contaminants can cause equipment to operate at higher costs. We normally use 5% side stream for standard condenser loops. • No need for oversizing to get the job done!

Vortisand® provides clean, clear water when used in conjunction with chemical treatment programs that chemical treatment alone cannot guarantee. Greater benefits result from very fine particle removal.

The chemical program enhances the need for finer filtration: iron precipitates when oxidized and creates a very fine crystal that is a fraction of a micron, then becomes larger and larger. But the iron particle circulating through the heat exchanger is very fine and it needs to be that way otherwise fouling occurs very quickly.

  • Achieve energy savings from improve exchanger efficicency
  • Optimize existing cooling system efficiency
  • Reducoperating and maintenance cost
  • Reduce downtime due to poor cooling efficiency or system contamination
  • Reduce risk of Legionella outbreaks
  • Get a higher ROI
