Polyset is a technology-driven materials company with a philosophy of designing exceptional resin systems to meet the needs of the customer by maximizing the performance of the product within the cost parameters of the project.

Polyset is a market leader within its product areas of focus. Most notably, we have been a leader in polyurethane adhesive, elastomer and foam systems for the industrial air filtration industry over the past 30 years. Our diversified product line also includes state-of-the-art expansion joint systems for the construction industry, protective coatings for the marine and offshore markets and cationic catalysts for epoxy-curing applications. Much of our new product development focuses on formulating adhesives for the liquid filtration, liquid membrane and reverse osmosis markets. Furthermore, we continue to provide wafer-level manufacturing and interconnect assembly applications that incorporate both electronic and optical packaging materials.

Polyset also currently provides contract manufacturing services of resins, prepolymers, adhesives and related components for diverse companies, including Fortune Fifty corporations.

Expansion joints are imperative to the life-cycle of a bridge; the consequence of failing joints as a result of poor quality or improper installation will severely compromise a bridge's structural integrity. Our Ply-Krete® joint systems are designed to allow for continuous traffic while accommodating movement, shrinkage and temperature variations on both the concrete and steel structure elements of a bridge.

Parking structures

Parking structures require expansion joint systems that can endure considerable horizontal and vertical movement, have good weather resistance, are waterproof and are easy to install for minimal downtime and extended service life.

Ply-Krete® joint systems consist of a high strength, moisture insensitive, elastomeric concrete nosing material and Ply-Seal®, a waterproof joint seal. This is one of the best systems available in the market for stadiums and parking structures. The "toughness factor" of the Ply-Krete joint system is second to none. These systems are designed to preserve and protect concrete decks and substructures by preventing water absorption and minimizing chloride intrusion in the most abusive environments.

Architectural Applications/Stadiums

Polyset has been able to transfer its expertise from the bridge expansion joint industry over to architectural applications and stadiums. Expansion joint control systems are required in many different construction applications from buildings to sound barrier walls to rail platforms. Ply-Seal will bond to most any substrate and provide a flexible, waterproof joint system that is easy to install with minimal down-time. Ply-Seal can also be color coated to match adjacent substrates - typical colors include black, gray and beige.

It is imperative that our airports consistently function at a high level in order to ensure an efficient and timely experience for all travelers. Delays and cancellations can of course occur due to the mechanical failures of a plane, but they can also be attributed to a host of other issues, including the wear and tear of runways, ramps and parking structures of an airport. This sort of structural damage can often be attributed to the failure of the expansion joint systems in place. These joints must withstand freeze-thaw cycles, endure heavy equipment traffic from airplanes, trucks and maintenance vehicles and also be easy to install for minimal down-time.

Waste Water Treatment Expansion Joint Systems

Ply-Seal® foam joint seals are ideal candidates for Waste Water Treatment facilities because they are closed-cell, waterproof, chemically resistant and flexible systems. Ply-Seal prevents water absorption, minimizes chloride intrusion and allows for high movement in adverse environmental conditions. Ply-Seal is compatible with many different construction materials and resistant to abrasion, oxidation, oils, gasoline, salt and other materials that may come in contact with the surface. Ply-Seal conforms to ASTM D-1056, Type 2 Class B, Grade 3 and can be bonded with our epoxy Ply-Bonder to a variety of substrates including concrete, steel, asphalt, elastomeric concrete or wood.

Oil/Gas Filtration Adhesives

Filtration systems are extensively used in today's oil and gas industry for separation, extraction, purification and treatment. The efficiency of these processes is of course dependent on the performance of the filters. Polyset manufactures a range of polyurethane/modified epoxy adhesives specifically for the oil and gas filtration market. These materials are formulated to possess excellent physical properties and chemical resistance to gasoline, hydraulic fluids and oils. These systems produce a tough, highly impact-resistant material with elevated temperature resistance (250-300°F).

Reverse Osmosis/Ultra Filtration   image

Reverse Osmosis/Ultra Filtration

The reverse osmosis/ultra filtration markets require adhesives that bond well to specialized membranes in separation process filters. In addition, filter manufacturers can widely vary in their production processes so the adhesive must also be formulated to fit different assembly scenarios. Polyset custom formulates polyurethane adhesives that adhere to both of these requirements. The chemical composition of these materials have a high degree of hydrolysis resistance and very little hardness loss in water at elevated temperatures (85C). These adhesives are also formulated with raw materials that will pass FDA and NSF requirements.

Energy - Industrial Protective Coatings - WB HRZS®

WB HRZS® is the previously NASA-patented coating technology IC 531. Polyset is the original, commercial manufacturer of this product. It is a 100% Water-Based, High Ratio Zinc Silicate. WB HRZS® chemically bonds to steel to provide excellent corrosion protection (both galvanic and cathodic), has high heat and abrasion resistance, is completely self-curing and emits zero VOC's. WB HRZS provides unparalleled protection for steel in the harshest marine and offshore environments. It can be used as a Single Coat System, Primer or a Pre-Construction Primer and top-coated with a variety of different options.

Oil and Gas: WB HRZS® allows for the easy mixing of two components (zinc and silicate binder), conventional spray-gun application and fast dry time (no post-curing required). As a result, this leads to easy maintenance and minimal downtime of equipment in high production, field environments. Structures may be placed back in service in as little as two hours after application. The abrasive-resistant finish of WB HRZS will protect steel structures from harsh offshore environments, as well as tremors from everyday stress.

Hydroelectric: Due to the superior anti-fouling properties of WB HRZS®', it can be successfully used in steel immersion applications in saltwater, freshwater or brackish water environments. Hydroelectric dams, floodgates and other flood control structures are ideal applications for WB HRZS®', either as a Single Coat System or a Primer.

Cationic Catalysts

Polyset is a technological leader in cationic systems. In that effort, Polyset has introduced the PC-2500 series diaryliodonium and triarylsulfonium cationic catalysts. These catalysts exhibit good solubility in a variety of commercially available resins, along with high photoactivity, especially when used in conjunction with applicable photosensitizers. Polyset is developing formulated products based on PC-2500 series cationic catalysts and Polyset's proprietary novel epoxy resins. These resins and catalysts have a variety of applications, including UV-Curable Printing Inks, Nanoimprint Lithography Solutions and E-Beam Coil Coatings.

Epoxy Siloxane Resins

Polyset is continuing to develop a family of novel siloxane-based monomers and oligomers that are especially attractive for such applications as microelectronics, photonics, composites, coatings and adhesives. These novel materials bear reactive functional groups consisting of cyclohexyl epoxy, glycidyl ether, vinyl ether and acrylate moieties as well as combinations of these groups. In the past, Polyset has also developed a series of proprietary curing agents that can be applied to these and other similar materials. Combination of the novel siloxane-based resins with these curing agents allows these materials to be cured thermally or using UV or e-beam irradiation. Dual thermal and radiation cure systems may also be employed.

Electronic/Optical Coatings

Polyset has combined the unique properties found in epoxy siloxane resins and cationic initiators to develop coatings that are desirable for electronic and optical applications. From microlens arrays to redistribution layers to waveguides, Polyset has designed solutions specific to these applications.
