Our composite Sandwich panels are typically a thin sheet (skin) bonded to a thicker core material. The performance characteristics of composite panels are greatly superior to those made from traditional materials, such as plywood or metal. Depending on the performance requirements, your panel can be made with foams, woods, metals etc.

Bellcomb panels are composed of two skins and a core, which are bonded together to form a "sandwich panel". Through the proper selection of core and skin materials, these panels exhibit extraordinary performance characteristics. The mechanical qualities of composite panels are far superior to those of solid structures. In other words, the principle of a honeycomb panel is very similar to the principle of an I-Beam: essentially the removal of unneeded materials to reduce weight to meet needs.

Individual panel sizes are often dictated by the sizes of available raw materials. For example, common sizes for skin materials are 4' x 8', 4' x 12', 5' x 8', 5' x 10', etc. At Bellcomb, we work with panels of all sizes every day. We have extensive experience and expertise in joining multiple panels together to produce much larger panel assembles. For smaller panels, we can yield multiple pieces from a larger panel based on optimum material utilization.

Bellcomb standard stone panels are made of natural stone cut to 3/16" to 1/4" thicknesses, and laminated to 1/4", 1/2", 3/4" and 1" all aluminum honeycomb backing. Virtually any stone is available as well as other backer material and thickness options to meet your needs.

Aluminum honeycomb cores are the norm for cleanroom panels, given aluminum's exceptional strength to weight ratio. However, Bellcomb also offers more cost-effective solutions, including foams, and our exclusive S-fluted polypropylene plastic. Aluminum facings, in a wide range of finishes, are commonly paired with honeycomb cores in high-tech applications. However, Stainless Steel, melamine-faced hardboard, and plastic skins are also often used depending on the specific clean room requirements.
