COMPANY OVERVIEW

Established in 1977, Heliport Systems, Inc. plans, designs, and constructs heliports for hospitals, businesses, and the marine industry worldwide. For rooftops, we manufacture a modular, steel and aluminum, Rooftop Heliport System, complete with Heliport Lighting and Heliport Foam Fire Protection. For ships and offshore oil rigs where ultra light weight and immunity from corrosion are essential, we manufacture a prefabricated all-aluminum heliport system. Our services range from – professional site selection; compliance with aeronautics regulations; engineering design; manufacture of helidecks, heliport lighting, and heliport fire protection equipment – to turnkey construction. All services and products are fully insured.

Rooftop Heliport System

Heliport Systems Inc. manufactures modular, steel and aluminum, high strength to weight, maintenance free heliports complete with state of the art lighting and fire protection. We can design, furnish, and install a permanent, approved, one-helicopter rooftop heliport anywhere in the continental U.S. starting at $410,000. Two and three helicopter sized heliports also are available. Options available for all sizes are automatic snowmelting and rooftop fuelling.

The Heliport Systems 18 inch internally-lighted windcone features an FAA/ICAO-approved high-visibility orange nylon 18 inch diameter wind cone 8 ft (2.4 m) in length.

It is internally lit using two 90 watt halogen bulbs which provides greater brightness than 4 regular external bulbs.

The 16 ft (5 m) brushed aluminum pole features a red obstruction light on the top and a hinged based for easy bulb replacement. An electrical junction box is built into the base.

As all metal components are either aluminum or stainless steel (for the bearings), there is nothing to rust and cause staining on the building.

The Heliport Systems floodlight light features a horizontal cut-off so that there is no glare for the pilots or passengers. It comes with a 75 watt halogen lamp that is equivalent to a 250 watt incandescent bulb, thus saving electricity. Further, with its 70 degree wide feild of view, most helipads can be covered with 4 fixtures.

The cast aluminum base serves as a junction box so no additional junction box is required. Further, with 4 half-inch NPT thread conduit entry points, all the wiring can be above ground. However, should you require underground wiring, there is a conduit entry point on the bottom.

An optional 12 inch diameter octagonal grass plate is available.

Heliport Light Controller

The Heliport Systems radio-operated lighting controller permits pilots when flying to an airport or heliport to turn on airfield lights utilizing their existing the aircraft VHF 118-137 Mhz band radio (Military UHF 225- 450 Mhz band). The pilot tunes his radio to the frequency (published or unpublished) programmed inside the Model ROLC, then keys his transmitter either 3, 5, or 7 times in quick succession to turn ON up to three groups of airfield lights either Individually or Incrementally in conformance with FAA Specification L-854. Inside the unit, a timer turns the lights off automatically, adjustable 15-60 minutes. As an alternative, the unit can be set to permit the pilot to turn off one group of lights at any time.

The Model ROLC also can receive on other bands signals from any radio transmitter utilizing Police, Fire, Emergency, Marine, and some military bands permitting people to open or close a gate, turn on dock lights, etc.

The grass plate prevents grass from growing over the light and allows easy periodic grass cutting or trimming.

The Heliport Systems obstruction light features an FAA-approved, tempered glass lens. It comes with a 116 watt, 120 VAC bulb with an 8,000 hour life (approximately one year) that can be changed without tools, owing to the fact that the lens is held in place with stainless steel clamps.

The cast aluminum base serves as a junction box so no additional junction box is required. Further, with three half-inch NPT thread conduit entry points on the side and two more on the bottom, the are many ways to mount the fixture.

Heliport Perimeter Light

The Heliport Systems perimeter light features an FAA-approved, tempered glass lens that is available in several colors including Aviation Green, the current standard, yellow, the previous standard, blue and clear. It comes with a 67 watt, 120 VAC bulb with an 8,000 hour life (approximately one year) that can be changed without tools, owing to the fact that the lens is held in place with stainless steel clamps.

The cast aluminum base serves as a junction box so no additional junction box is required. Further, with three half-inch NPT thread conduit entry points, all the wiring can be above ground. However, should you require underground wiring, there are two conduit entry points on the bottom.

Foam Fire Protection

Heliport Systems Inc. manufactures quality heliport fire protection meeting FAA, ICAO, and NFPA 418 standards. Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) is used at heliports and airports worldwide is dispensed automatically from an oscillating monitor onto the heliport. The monitor also can be aimed manually for application of all foam directly on a fire.

Although no longer required by the fire code, most fire protection professionals require rooftop heliports have a Fuel/Water Separator to contain a deluge of spilled fuel in the event of a helicopter accident, preventing fuel from entering the building's roof drains and ultimately, city storm sewers where a fire or explosion could occur. Yet our Fuel/Water Separator permits normal rainwater runoff from the heliport to pass through to the roof drains as it did prior to the heliport being constructed.
