Picket Rail Systems image

Picket Rail Systems

Picket railing systems are the most widely specified and used, due to the fact that they are generally the most economical to fabricate and install. In addition, they can be easily upgraded to include rings, finials or cast aluminum elements which enhance visual appeal at relatively low cost.
Lateral Rail Systems image

Lateral Rail Systems

Lateral railing systems are generally more architecturally dramatic but they also tend to be more costly to fabricate and install. Lateral systems provide a linear horizontal accent to buildings and can be specified in 2 or 3 lines for exterior D.O.T. and industrial use. Lateral systems usually consist of a series of all horizontal members spaced to the proper "sphere code" requirement forming the "infill". The system is then supported by vertical posts spaced to meet the structural loads.

Glass Rail Systems

Glass railing systems are considered very high end and sophisticated. They are generally "transparent", allowing for the other architectural features of the building to show through more clearly with a subtle accent from the handrailing.

Glass systems usually consist of a horizontal top rail, a horizontal bottom rail to capture the glass, vertical posts to support the system and glass as the "infill".

Generally speaking, glass systems can be two side supported, four side supported or structural, whereby the glass itself provides the bulk of the load support.

Glass used in either supported or structural systems must conform to current national and local building codes. Such codes generally call for glass to be laminated and/or tempered with thicknesses that can run from 7/16 inch to 3/4 inch.

Colonial Shutters image

Colonial Shutters

Colonial Shutters are available in both decorative and impact versions and provide a handsome, fold-back option that enhances a home's architectural design. Colonial shutters close in front of the window opening and are secured with locking bars that add strength and security to the residential or commercial building. Shutters manufactured with our patented integral backing blade provide wind and impact protection. The integral backing blades can be manufactured with an optional see through punching that allows light to pass through and provides limited visibility. Decorative Colonial shutters, when closed, provide a measure of security to the opening but do not deliver wind or impact protection.
Bahama Shutters image

Bahama Shutters

Bahama Shutters are mounted over the window opening with a continuous hinge and adjustable side arms that telescope to form a sunshade or louvered awning. It is also common to install fixed arm Bahama Shutters over window openings in commercial buildings that function as a decorative element and sunshade. Bahama Shutters manufactured using our patented integral blade backing provide wind and impact protection when secured at the sides and bottom. Decorative Bahama Shutters protect interiors from sunlight and can keep buildings cooler.
Aluminum Storm Panels image

Aluminum Storm Panels

Aluminum Storm panels are roll-formed from high-strength tempered aluminum alloy coil stock. They are easy to install, lightweight and can be stored compactly. Aluminum Storm Panels are available in .050 and .063 thicknesses and meet all Miami-Dade and Florida Building code engineering requirements. The panels can be installed using our header, f-track or stud angle mounting systems and our full line of hurricane hardware items.

Color Availability

All AMF Building Products impact and decorative shutters can be powder painted at our facility to 14 standard colors or an endless array of custom colors. While storm panels generally are shipped in unpainted mill finish, they can be powder painted to meet the requirements of local homeowner associations.

Pretreatment

If aluminum is not properly treated, the paint will not adhere to the surface no matter how high the quality of the paint. AMF uses a five stage full immersion pretreatment process. Its 20 foot long dip tanks provide for complete submersion of the aluminum, cleaning and coating the product both inside and out. Pretreatment provides for cleaning, degreasing, etching, deoxidizing, rinsing and application of a pre-paint bonding agent to assure proper adhesion of paint.

Painting

Powder paint is applied with hand held electrostatic spray painting applicators. This allows for complete coverage throughout our product line. AMF uses only the highest quality, environmentally compliant polyester and fluoropolymer powder coating products available from the world's largest and most trusted manufacturers.

Custom Colors

Custom color matching provides for an infinite number of color possibilities. We can match any color chip you provide, allowing for only minimal color and sheen variation.

Warranty

AMF Building Products offers a standard one year warranty against blistering and cracking on its one coat polyester direct to metal product. The warranty applies to color retention and adhesion to the substrate and is warranted to be in conformance with drawings and specifications and free from defects in material and workmanship. AMF also offers a five year and ten year warranty paint product based on either a two coat (primer) system or fluoropolymer products manufactured by the world's most technologically advanced paint manufacturing companies.

All warranties extend to our direct customer and are subject to the conditions outlined in the paint manufacturer's warranty to AMF Building Products. The warranty applies only if the paint manufacturer's documented maintenance procedures are followed and no improper cleaning solvents or fluids were used.

In the event of a coating failure, and if it is found that all the proper cleaning and maintenance conditions have been met, AMF Building Products agrees to remedy all defects to the coating itself within the warranty period. Such warranty will not apply to collateral damage to the substrate or any adjacent building materials. Our product warranty does not cover the expense of removal or reinstallation of the affected product.
