Photometric IES (.ies) File Help

IES files are photometric data files associated with lighting fixtures. They are used to accurately model how light is cast and rendered from a given fixture.

Revit requires that all IES files associated with a model are located in the same place. The proper locations to download and save the files to are:

Revit 9.1:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Revit Building 9.1\Rendering\AccuRenderRedist\SUPPORT\lights

Revit Systems 2:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\Revit Systems 2\IES

Revit Architecture 2008:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\RAC 2008\IES

Revit MEP 2008:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\RME 2008\IES

Revit Architecture 2009:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Autodesk\RAC 2009\IES
