	1.4	SUBMITTALS
		A.	Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

			2.	Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.

			4.	Maintenance Instructions.
		C.	Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color samples representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.
		D.	Applicator's Documented Experience: Submit applicator's list of successfully completed concrete topping and overlay projects, including project name and location, name of architect, and type and quantity of concrete products applied.
		E.	Manufacturer's Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.
	1.5	QUALITY ASSURANCE
		A.	Manufacturer Qualifications: Manufacturer shall have a minimum of five years experience in design, formulation, and service of decorative concrete surface systems.
		B.	Applicator Qualifications: Applicator with a minimum for three years documented experience with projects of similar scope and scale and:
			1.	Regularly engaged, in application of decorative concrete similar type to that specified.
			2.	Employ persons trained for application of decorative concrete of similar type to that specified.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
		C.	Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.
			1.	Finish areas designated by Architect using same materials for use in the Work
			2.	Mock-up shall be a minimum of 48 inches (1219 mm) by 48 inches (1219 mm).
			3.	Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, pattern, color and sheen are approved by Architect.
			4.	Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.
			5.	Approved mock-ups will be the standard for patterns colors, textures, special effects, and workmanship of concrete toppings and overlay for the remaining work.

		D.	Preapplication Meeting: Convene a preapplication meeting before start of application of decorative concrete system. Require attendance of parties directly affecting work of this section, including Contractor, Architect, applicator, and manufacturer's representative. Review the following:
			1.	Environmental requirements.
			2.	Protection of surfaces not scheduled to be coated.
			3.	Surface preparation.
			4.	Application.
			5.	Repair.
			6.	Field quality control.
			7.	Cleaning.
			8.	Protection of coating systems.

	1.6	DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
		A.	Deliver and store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging with labels clearly identifying product name and manufacturer until ready for installation.
		B.	Storage:
			1.	Store materials in clean, dry area indoors in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
			2.	Store out of direct sunlight.
			3.	Keep from freezing.
		C.	Handling: Protect materials during handling and application to prevent contamination or damage.
		D.	Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
	1.7	PROJECT CONDITIONS
		A.	Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
		B.	Do not start work when air or surface temperatures are below 40 degrees F (4 degrees C) or above 90 degrees F (32 degrees C).
		C.	Do not apply when rain, snow, or excessive moisture is expected during application or within 24 hours after application.

	PART 3	EXECUTION
	3.1	EXAMINATION
		A.	Examine surfaces to receive decorative concrete finish.
		B.	Verify grades and elevations of concrete base are correct, and proper drainage has been provided so water does not stand in the area to receive paving.
		C.	Notify Architect of conditions that would adversely affect application.
		D.	If conditions are the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory conditions before proceeding.
	3.2	PREPARATION
		A.	Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
		B.	Protect adjacent areas, adjoining walls, and landscaping from contact with decorative concrete system operations and components.
		C.	Test concrete in accordance with ASTM F 1869 and/or E 1907 to evaluate moisture conditions of substrate. Report test results to Architect.
		D.	Ensure substrate is sound and free of contaminates that would interfere with adhesion of concrete topping or overlay.
		E.	Repair spalls, delaminated areas, and cracks.
		F.	Ensure substrate exhibits slight profile, similar to medium sandpaper.
		G.	Ensure substrate is absorptive. Water shall not bead-up when placed on substrate.
		H.	Maintain and repair control and expansion joints in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
		I.	Ensure repair materials are fully cured before application of concrete topping or overlay.
	3.3	INSTALLATION
		A.	Install in concrete topping or overlay system accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
		B.	Dampen prepared substrate before application.
		C.	substrate uniformly damp during application, with no standing water, ponding, or puddles.
		D.	Uniformly apply materials of proper consistency to substrate to indicated thickness.
		E.	Prepare and protect control and expansion joints as recommended by the concrete topping or overlay manufacturer. Do not apply concrete topping or overlay over moving cracks or joints.

		F.	Stamp or tool concrete prior to set to pattern and mat imprint finish required
		G.	Apply concrete stains if applicable for the finish required.
		H.	Match approved mock-ups for patterns, colors, textures, special effects, and workmanship.
		I.	Concrete Sealer:
			1.	Apply concrete sealer in accordance with manufacturer's instructions after substrate has thoroughly dried.
			2.	Uniformly apply concrete sealer over entire surface.
		J.	Seal control and expansion joints as specified in Section 07900.
	3.4	PROTECTION
		A.	Protect installed products until completion of project.
		B.	Protect completed decorative concrete and concrete sealer application from:
			1.	Rain, Snow, and Excessive Moisture: Minimum of 24 hours.
			2.	Foot Traffic: Minimum of 24 hours.
