Decorative concrete products and systems are rapidly paving the U.S. and beyond. With this widespread growth, Legacy Decorative Concrete Systems, Inc. launched a complete line of concrete products, tooling, colorants, stains, finishes and overlay systems specifically designed for contractors, distributors, suppliers and architects.

This section includes decorative concrete stamping and stenciling systems that are available in a wide variety of colors, finishes and patterns. These systems provide permanent solutions, add life and luster to concrete floors, patios, driveways and vertical surfaces. Legacy Decorative Concrete Systems Inc. products and coloring systems are durable, easy to use and designed to create extraordinary concrete surfaces.

          1.4SUBMITTALS
 
          A.Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
 
          B.Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
          1.Preparation instructions and recommendations.
          2.Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
          3.Application methods.
          4.Maintenance Instructions.
 
          C.Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color samples representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.
 
          D.Applicator's Documented Experience: Submit applicator's list of successfully completed concrete stamping and stenciling projects, including project name and location, name of architect, and type and quantity of concrete stains applied.
 
          E.Manufacturer's Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.
 
          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Manufacturer shall have a minimum of five years experience in design, formulation, and service of decorative concrete surface systems.
 
          B.Applicator Qualifications: Applicator with a minimum for three years documented experience with projects of similar scope and scale and:
          1.Regularly engaged, in application of decorative concrete similar type to that specified.
          2.Employ persons trained for application of decorative concrete of similar type to that specified.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
 
          C.Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.
          1.Finish areas designated by Architect using same materials for use in the Work
          2.Mock-up shall be a minimum of 48 inches (1219 mm) by 48 inches (1219 mm).
          3.Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, pattern, color and sheen are approved by Architect.
          4.Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.
          5.Approved mock-ups will be the standard for patterns colors, textures, special effects, and workmanship of decorative concrete for the remaining work.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a preapplication meeting if the nature of the project and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. Delete if not required.
 
          D.Preapplication Meeting: Convene a preapplication meeting before start of application of decorative concrete system. Require attendance of parties directly affecting work of this section, including Contractor, Architect, applicator, concrete supplier, and manufacturer's representative. Review the following:
          1.Environmental requirements.
          2.Protection of surfaces not scheduled to be coated.
          3.Surface preparation.
          4.Application.
          5.Repair.
          6.Field quality control.
          7.Cleaning.
          8.Protection of coating systems.
          9.Coordination with other work.
 
          1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Deliver and store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging with labels clearly identifying product name and manufacturer until ready for installation.
 
          B.Storage:
          1.Store materials in clean, dry area indoors in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
          2.Store out of direct sunlight.
          3.Keep from freezing.
 
          C.Handling: Protect materials during handling and application to prevent contamination or damage.
 
          D.Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
 
          1.7PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
 
          B.Do not start work when air or surface temperatures are below 40 degrees F (4 degrees C) or above 90 degrees F (32 degrees C).
 
          C.Do not apply when rain, snow, or excessive moisture is expected during application or within 24 hours after application.

          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Examine surfaces to receive decorative concrete finish.
 
          B.Notify Architect of conditions that would adversely affect application.
 
          C.If conditions are the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory conditions before proceeding.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          B.Protect adjacent areas, adjoining walls, and landscaping from contact with decorative concrete system operations and components.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in decorative concrete system accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
 
          B.Concrete Mix: Coordinate integral color and concrete mix with Section 03300.
 
          C.Concrete: Place, finish, and cure concrete as specified in Section 03300.
 
          D.Screed and float concrete to lines and grades required.
 
          E.Apply dry shake materials and trowel if applicable for finish required.

          F.Stamp or tool concrete prior to set to pattern and mat imprint finish required
