Use for an interior brick wall to bring added warmth to an area such as a kitchen or family room. ThinBRIK is also available with a system of lightweight metal panels where bricks are adhered with adhesive and then secured with traditional mortar. Typically an interior residential application such as a contrasting wall can be installed one or two days.

SUBMITTALS
A.
Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
B.
Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
1.
Preparation instructions and recommendations.
2.
Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
3.
Installation methods.
 
NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete selection samples if brick and colors have already been selected.
 
C.
Selection Samples: For each product specified, two complete samples of brick to reflect the full range of color, shades and surface texture of brick specified.
D.
Verification Samples: For each product specified, two samples of four brick each, representing actual product, color, and texture.

Manufacturer's Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.

MOCKUP
A.
Construct mockup at location indicated or directed, and as follows:
1.
Size: 4 foot by 4 foot (1.2 m by 1.2 m).
2.
Include all unit types and sizes to be used, and mortar joint treatment.
B.
Construct the mockup panel using the mortar, tooling, and cleaning as specified.
C.
The approved sample panel shall be a standard of workmanship for the Work.
D.
Mockup panel shall not be removed until masonry work required by this Section has been completed and accepted.
1.6
DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A.
Deliver products of this section on pallets, with individual faces protected; keep dry.
B.
Store in protected area or under cover on level ground; keep dry. Do not double-stack pallets.
1.7
PROJECT CONDITIONS
A.
Follow hot weather and cold weather requirements in the masonry code and specifications, TMS 402 and TMS 602.

PART 3 EXECUTION
 
3.1
EXAMINATION
A.
Do not begin installation until backup substrates have been properly prepared.
B.
Verify field conditions are acceptable and are ready to receive work.
C.
If backup substrate and other preparation work is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
3.2
PREPARATION
A.
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
3.3
INSTALLATION
 
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include the following paragraph for face brick installed as part of a unit masonry assembly. Delete if not applicable.
 
A.
Install thin brick in accordance with manufacturer's printed instructions.
B.
Cut units where required for fitting or for installation of built-in items, using power tools; do not install units having chipped or cracked edges on sight-exposed surfaces.
C.
Align base courses to follow accurate floor lines.
D.
Align faces plumb, level, and true, with uniform joint widths.
E.
Size and portion units for best appearance, with joints arranged neat and symmetrical, free of imperfections detracting from overall appearance.
F.
Allow space for caulking of joints at frames.
3.4
FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A.
Installed masonry surfaces shall be free of imperfections, which detract from overall appearance when viewed from a distance of 5 feet (1.5 m) at 90 degrees normal to surface.
3.5
CLEANING
A.
Clean installed masonry surfaces in accordance with manufacturer's instructions; do not clean units with products not specified in manufacturer's instructions.
