SUBMITTALS

Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:

Preparation instructions and recommendations.

Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.

Installation methods.

Shop Drawings: Provide plan, section, elevation and perspective drawings as necessary to depict the nominal dimensions and patterns of each stone specified in this section. Coordinate with Contract Drawings and submit plan and elevation drawings depicting the Work locations for each stone specified in this section.

Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.

Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square, representing actual product, color, and patterns.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Manufacturer Qualifications: All primary products specified in this section will be supplied by a single manufacturer with a minimum of twenty (20) years experience.

Installer Qualifications: All products listed in this section are to be installed by a single installer with a minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience in installing products of the same type and scope as specified.

DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING

Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.

Store and dispose of hazardous materials, and materials contaminated by hazardous materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.

1.7

PROJECT CONDITIONS

Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

1.8

WARRANTY

At project closeout, provide to Owner or Owners Representative an executed copy of the manufacturer's standard limited warranty against manufacturing defect, outlining its terms, conditions, and exclusions from coverage.

PART 2

PRODUCTS

UNDERSTANDING 'NOMINAL' DIMENSIONS:

World Wide Stone Corporation produces all of its products to the highest level of international industry standards. Therefore, for all tiles having 'half sizes' or 'quarter sizes', the 'half size' or 'quarter size' dimension is 'nominal' rather than 'true'. By 'half size' or 'quarter size', we are referring to a standard tile that is cut from a standard tile. For purposes of understanding 'half size' and 'quarter size' standard tiles, consider 'true' dimensioned standard tiles of 12'x12', 16'x16', 16'x24', 18'x18', 20'x20' and 24'x24' dimensions. A 'half size' standard tile cut from a 12'x12' standard tile is a nominal 6' x true 12' tile, etc. A 'quarter size' standard tile cut from a 12'x12' standard tile is a nominal 6' x nominal 6' tile, etc.

As an example, the true dimension of a nominal 6'x6'x3/8' tile is actually approximately 5-7/8'x5-7/8'x3/8'. You see, the 6' dimension is nominal, being the half size of a standard true 12'x12' tile. The true dimension of a nominal 8'x8'x3/8' tile is actually approximately 7-7/8'x7-7/8'x3/8', as the 8' dimension is nominal, being the half size of a standard true 16'x16' tile. The true dimension of a nominal 6'x12'x3/8' tile is actually approximately 5-7/8'x12'x3/8'. The true dimension of a nominal 8'x16'x3/8' tile is actually approximately 7-7/8'x16'x3/8'. The nominal dimensions account for the blade that cuts the true dimensioned tile into two equal nominal dimensioned tiles.

These industry standard facts are both necessary and particularly important for understanding how industry standard tiles are fabricated and how tiles within patterns work together to make that pattern. All Designer Patterns offered by World Wide Stone require from a 1/8' to a 3/16' grout joint between various tiles during installation to properly 'fit' together, depending on the pattern. Questions?
