	1.4	SUBMITTALS
		A.	Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
		B.	[ Product Data ]: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
			1.	A dimension of individual components, profiles, and finishes.
			2.	Mechanical fasteners: Test reports from a qualified independent testing agency evidencing compliance with requirements based on comprehensive testing.
		C.	Shop Drawings: Show location of deck units, support locations, projections, openings, anchorage details, and other information required for review.
		D.	Manufacturers Installation Instructions: Submit manufacturer's installation instructions.
		E.	Product Certificates: Signed by the manufacturer of the steel deck, certifying the supplied products comply with specified requirements.
		F.	Welder Certificates: Certify welders employed on the Work, verifying AWS qualification within previous 12 months.
	1.5	QUALITY ASSURANCE
		A.	Manufacturer Qualifications: Member of the Steel Deck Institute.
		B.	Design deck layout, spans, fastening, and joints under direct supervision of Professional Engineer experienced in design of this Work and licensed at Project location.

		C.	Calculate to structural working stress design and maximum vertical deck deflection of ________.
		D.	Welding Standards: Comply with applicable provisions of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding CodeSteel and AWS D1.3 Structural Welding CodeSheet Steel.
			1.	Qualify welding processes and welding operators in accordance with AWS Standard Qualification Procedure.
		E.	Pre-installation Meetings: Conduct pre-installation meeting to verify project requirements, substrate conditions, and manufacturers installation instructions.
	1.6	DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
		A.	Protect steel deck from corrosion, deformation, and other damage during delivery, storage and handling.
		B.	Store deck off the ground, with one end elevated to provide drainage. Protect against condensation with a ventilated waterproof covering. Stack so there is no danger of tipping, sliding, rolling, shifting or material damage. Check bundles periodically for tightness, and retighten as necessary so wind cannot loosen sheets.
		C.	Place deck on building frame near a main supporting beams at columns or walls. Do not place bundles on unbolted frames or on unattached or unbridged joists. Ensure that the structural frame is properly braced to receive the bundles.
	1.7	PROJECT CONDITIONS
		A.	During construction, adequately distribute all loads applied to joists so as not to exceed the carrying capacity of any one joist or other component.
	PART 2	PRODUCTS
	2.1	MANUFACTURERS

	2.2	MATERIALS
		A.	Steel Roof Deck: Provide the following type; with depth, design thickness, and design configuration in accordance with the requirements of the SDI.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select 1 of the following 4 paragraphs or delete all four paragraphs and select paragraph 5. Coordinate rib opening with roof insulation and roof covering manufacturers requirements.
			1.	Intermediate rib (Type F).
			2.	Wide rib (Type B).
			3.	Deep rib (Type N).
			4.	Long span (Types J, LS and H).

		B.	Sheet Steel for Galvanized Roof Deck and Accessories: ASTM A 653, Grade 33, Structural Quality, minimum yield strength of 33 ksi (230 MPa). Galvanizing in accordance with ASTM A 924 with a minimum coating class of G30 as defined in ASTM A 653.
		C.	Sheet Steel for Prime Painted Roof Deck and Accessories: ASTM A 1008 with a minimum yield strength of 33 ksi (230 Mpa). Steel deck shall have a coat of manufacturer's standard shop primer paint.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select 1 of the following 3 paragraphs. Show deck thickness or design requirements on the Drawings or insert thickness required. Delete paragraphs not required.
		D.	Select deck to provide the load capacities shown on the drawings and as determined using the Steel Deck Institute construction loading criteria.
		E.	Deck shall be capable of supporting the superimposed live loads indicated on the drawings.
		F.	Whenever possible, deck shall be multi-span.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following paragraph if fire-resistant units are not required. If required, insert the UL Design Number in the specification or on the drawings.
		G.	Where fire resistance rated assemblies are required, provide UL-listed units. Identify steel deck bundles with labels bearing the UL mark.

	2.3	ACCESSORIES
		A.	Provide ridge and valley plates, flat plates at change of deck direction, and sump pans, as shown on plans to provide a finished surface for the application of roof insulation and roof covering.
		B.	Provide mechanical fasteners for accessory attachments.
	PART 3	EXECUTION
	3.1	EXAMINATION
		A.	Examine support framing and field conditions for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance of work of this section.
		B.	If conditions are the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory conditions before proceeding.
	3.2	PREPARATION
		A.	Place deck in accordance with approved shop drawings.
		B.	Locate deck bundles to prevent overloading of support members.
		C.	Do not use deck units as a working platform or storage area until units are permanently attached in position.
	3.3	INSTALLATION, GENERAL
		A.	Install deck panels and accessories according to Steel Deck Institute specifications and recommendations, SDI Manual of Construction with Steel Deck and in accordance with approved shop drawings and requirements of this section.
		B.	Place deck panels on structural supports and adjust to final position with ends lapped or butted over structural supports and a minimum end bearing of 1.5 inches (40 mm). Attach firmly to the supports immediately after placement in order to form a safe working platform.
		C.	Cut and neatly fit deck units and accessories at skew conditions, around openings and other work projecting through or adjacent to the decking.
		D.	Do not cut unscheduled openings through the deck without the approval of the Architect; reinforce openings as directed.
	3.4	INSTALLATION ROOF DECK
		A.	Anchor deck units to steel supporting members by arc spot puddle welds or approved mechanical fasteners:
			1.	Weld diameter: 5/8 inch (15 mm) minimum visible diameter welds with the attachment pattern shown on placement drawings.
			2.	Mechanical fasteners, either powder actuated or pneumatically driven, or screws may be used in lieu of welding to fasten deck to supporting framing, provided they have been specifically approved by the Architect.
		B.	Side Lap Attachment: Fasten side laps with spans greater that 5 feet (1.5 m) at mid span or at intervals not exceeding 36 inches (91 mm) on center, which ever distance is smaller using one of the following methods:
				a.	#10 self drilling screws.
				b.	Crimp or button punch.
				c.	Arc puddle welds - 5/8 inch (15 mm) minimum visible diameter or 1-1/2 inch (38 mm) long fillet welds.
		C.	Perimeter Edge Attachment: Fasten perimeter edges of deck units at minimum 36 inch (91 mm) intervals or as shown on design drawings using one of the following methods:
			1.	Weld diameter: 5/8 inch (15 mm) minimum visible diameter welds with the attachment pattern shown on placement drawings.
			2.	Mechanical fasteners, either powder actuated or pneumatically driven, or screws may be used in lieu of welding to fasten deck to supporting framing, provided they have been specifically approved by the Architect.
		D.	Anchor accessories to supporting members by arc spot welds or self drilling screws at 12 inch (305 mm) maximum intervals or as shown on design drawings.
	3.5	REPAIRS
		A.	Before placement of roof insulation and roof covering:
			1.	Inspect deck for tears, dents, or other damage that may prevent the deck from acting as a structural roof base.
			2.	Repair tears, dents, or other damage.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include one the following paragraphs for galvanized deck or painted deck as applicable.
		B.	Immediately after welding deck and other metal components in position, coat welds, burned areas, and damaged surface coating, with zinc rich prime paint.
		C.	Touch-up painted surfaces with matching paint.
		D.	Repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
