Industrial Ladder and Cage Systems: Our Industrial Ladder and Cage Systems feature the following specially designed components:

DeMuth Steel Products, Inc. Offset Platforms: When the distance from the floor to the top rung exceeds 30', an offset platform is required in the cage/ladder system. These sturdy, well designed platforms are assembled on-site and provide the user with a rigid and dependable resting place. The proper number of Offset Platforms will always be supplied with your order to ensure your compliance with all safety standards.

DeMuth Steel Products, 1nc. Cages: Cage components are all galvanized with a gold dichromate finish and are bolted together on-site to create an extremely rigid and attractive system. All cages are flared at the bottom and have a top walk-thru as required by OSHA.

          1.4SUBMITTALS
 
          A.Submit under provisions of Section 01300.

          C.Shop Drawings: Detailed drawings indicating project location and application.
 
          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE

          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 10 years experience manufacturing similar products.
 
          B.Installer Qualifications: Experience with ladder assemblies and regulatory requirements of installation and operation.
 
          1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
 
          1.7WARRANTY
 
          A.Subject to the conditions below, Seller warrants its products against defects in workmanship and material for a period of one year from the date of installation. Buyer shall provide written notice of any claim under this warranty within 60 days after it becomes aware of the defect and shall provide reasonable access to the product for the Seller's investigation.
 
          B.Seller will have sole discretion to approve warranty coverage. If the warranty claim is allowed, either in full or in part, Seller shall provide to Buyer, F.O.B. Seller's factory, an identical or substantially equivalent replacement. This is Buyer's sole and exclusive remedy, and Buyer waives all other remedies, statutory or otherwise.
 
          C.This warranty only applies to the original purchaser and only to equipment manufactured by Seller. It does not apply to equipment where the defect was caused by accidents, misapplication, alterations, abuse, or misuse. The warranty also does not apply to the erection or installation of Seller's products by Seller's dealers, who are independent contractors.
 
          PART 2PRODUCTS
 
          2.1MANUFACTURERS

          B.Substitutions: Not permitted.
 
          C.Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01600.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** The unique assembly features allow easy on-site assembly and installation. Super Ladder Systems are designated by height for ease of description. The top rung is 6 inches (152 mm) higher than the product description. A 16 feet (4.9 m) unit for example is 16 feet 6 inches from the ground to the top rung.
 
          2.2APPLICATIONS
 
          A.Regulatory Compliance: The ladder and safety cage systems shall be designed to comply with OSHA and ANSI standards for fixed ladders.
          1.Safety factors for fastening to supporting structure shall comply with the OSHA and ANSI standards or manufacturer recommendation whichever is more stringent.
 
          B.Drawings: Refer to drawings for size, length, accessories and supporting structure.
 
          2.3COMPONENTS
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete components not required.
 
          A.Ladder Sections: Ladder uprights shall be fabricated from G-90, 16 gauge (1.5 mm) steel inset channel. Ladder rungs shall be fabricated from 1 inch diameter by .065 inch (1.7 mm) wall welded tubing with a knurled surface and electroplated to ASTM B633 Classification Fe/Zn 12. Rungs shall be swage locked to ladder uprights with a rung to rung distance of 12 inches (305 mm) and distance between uprights of 16 inches (406 mm).
 
          B.Splice Kits: Splice shall be plated to ASTM B633 Classification Fe/Zn 12, locking devices and 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) plated bolts.
 
          C.Bracket Kits: Mounting brackets shall be designed to maintain a minimum distance of 7 inches (178 mm) from the centerline of the rung to an obstruction in back of the ladder. Brackets shall be stamped 12 gauge (2.66 mm) steel plated to ASTM B633 Classification Fe/Zn 12. Provide locking nuts and 3/8 inch (9.5 mm) plated bolts.
 
          D.Walk Thru: Uprights shall be fabricated from G-90, 16 gauge (1.5 mm) steel inset channel. Plastic end caps shall be provided for the upright ends.
 
          E.Cage: Components are hot rolled steel and plated to ASTM B633 Classification Fe/Zn 12. Cages start at least 7 feet (2.1 m) but no more than 8 feet (2.4 m) from the base of the ladder. The bottom of the cage is flared at least 4 inches (102 mm).
 
          F.Security Lockout System: System covers five rungs of the ladder. G-90 galvanized steel. The two hooks at the top are placed over a ladder rung. The u-clamp at the bottom fits over a rung and can be fastened with a padlock. Unit measures 66 inches high by 19 1/2 inches wide by 2 inches deep (1676 mm by 495 mm by 51 mm).
 
          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until supporting structure and inserts have been properly prepared.
 
          B.If support preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          3.2INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
 
          B.Installation shall comply with regulations, codes and ordinances for ladder installation and operation.
 
          3.3PROTECTION
 
          A.Protect installed products until completion of project.
 
          B.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
