          1.4SUBMITTALS
 
          A.Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
 
          B.[ Product Data ]: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
          1.Preparation instructions and recommendations.
          2.Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
          3.Installation methods.
 
          C.Shop Drawings:
          1.Shop drawings shall show dimensions, sizes, thickness, alloy(s), temper(s), finishes, joint(s), attachments and the relationship of adjoining work.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete selection samples if colors have already been selected.
 
          D.Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.
 
          E.Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square, which depict actual product, color, and patterns.
 
          F.Certification:
          1.Submit certificates from column cover manufacturer attesting that products comply with specified requirements, including finish as specified.
          2.Submit list of projects completed. Projects listed shall be of similar type, scope and size, and shall have all necessary contact information for verification by the owner or Architect of Record.
 
          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Single manufacturer with a minimum of ten (10) projects of similar size and scope in the past five (5) years shall manufacture, fabricate and deliver column covers and all primary products specified in this section.
 
          B.Installer / Fabricator Qualifications: Fabricator shall have a minimum of five (5) years experience installing systems of similar type and scope as those specified in this section.
          1.Fabricator must own and operate facilities capable of creating and finishing all metal components.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
 
          C.Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.
          1.Finish areas designated by Architect.
          2.Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, color, and sheen are approved by Architect.
          3.Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.
 
          1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Protect all materials during fabrication, shipment, site storage and erection to prevent damage to the finished work from other trades.
 
          B.Store column covers inside a well-ventilated area, away from uncured concrete and masonry and protected from weather, moisture, soiling, abrasion, extreme temperatures and humidity.
 
          C.Store and dispose solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
 
          1.7PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
 
          1.8WARRANTY
 
          A.Upon project close-out, provide Owner with a copy of the manufacturers standard one (1) year limited warranty against manufacturing defect on the column covers.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following if Extended Warranty covering Finish is not required. Extended Warranty not available on all finishes. Coordinate with manufacturer's requirents.
 
          B.Warranty on Column Cover Finishes may be extended up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) years following date of substantial completion.
 
          PART 2PRODUCTS
 
          2.1MANUFACTURERS

          C.Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01600.
 
          2.2MATERIALS
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following paragraph if NuvoFlute-E is specified.
 
          A.All secondary mounting posts, anchors, clips and fasteners are to be provided as a complete package of this work.
 
          B.No exposed fasteners for metal closures are allowed.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following paragraph if Aluminum Sheet is not specified.
 
          C.Aluminum Sheet: 3003-H14 alloy or 5005-H14 (anodizing quality), minimum 14 gauge (.064 inch / 1.63mm) thickness in accordance with ASTM B 209/B209M.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following paragraph if Stainless Steel Sheet is not specified.
 
          D.Stainless Steel Sheet: Type 304, minimum 16 Gauge (.062 inch / 1.57mm) thickness in accordance with ASTM A 666.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following paragraph if Bronze Sheet is not specified.
 
          E.Bronze Sheet: Muntz metal alloy 280, minimum 14 gauge (.064 inch / 1.63mm) thickness in accordance with ASTM B36/B36M.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Galvanized steel is only for use in interior applications. Delete the following paragraph if column covers are to be exposed to the weather or galvanized steel sheet is not specified.
 
          F.Galvanized steel: Minimum 16 gauge (.062 inch / 1.57mm) electroplated in accordance with ASTM A 366/366/M.
 
          2.3FABRICATION
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete one of the next two paragraphs. 12 feet 3 inches is standard. Contact Nelson Industrial for materials rated for 16 foot heights.
 
          A.Height of column covers shall not exceed 12 feet 3 inches (3734mm) without horizontal joints.
 
          B.Column covers shall have either a closed or open reveal vertical joint, as shown on the architectural drawings. All other details including base and ceiling details, shall be fabricated in accordance with the architectural drawings.
 
          C.Column cover shall be manufactured true to geometry as shown on plan view of architectural drawings with a tolerance of +/- 1/16 inch (1.5mm).
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following paragraph if NuvoFlute-V is not specified.
 
          D.NuvoFlute-V Series:
          1.Covers shall be fabricated with return flanges at the vertical joints for structural strength.
          2.Provisions for engagement (keyhole) shall be provided at factory with keys attached to the column covers at specified intervals to allow for complete accessibility without tools or exposed fasteners. A 3/4 inch (19mm) clearance is required at the top for installation.
          3.Where access is restricted to authorized personnel, a locking method at the top shall be provided.
          4.All covers shall be removable, de-mountable and re-usable without exposed fasteners.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following paragraph if NuvoFlute-U is not specified.
 
          E.NuvoFlute-U Series:
          1.All covers shall be removable, de-mountable and re-usable without exposed fasteners.

          F.NuvoFlute-E Series:
          1.Column covers are non-demountable.
          2.Interior use only. Supply unit primed for site finishing.
 
          2.4FINISHES
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Choose from the following selections for exposed metal finishes and modify the included text as required. Delete finishes that are not applicable or not required.
 
          A.Aluminum shall receive a factory applied and baked powder coat finish.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select Color. Delete one of the following two paragraphs.
          1.Color: As specified by Architect from manufacturers submitted samples.
          2.Color: __________________.
 
          B.Aluminum shall receive a finish as selected from the standard color range.

          1.Polyester powder baked enamel.
          2.Two-coat fluoropolymer.
          3.Three-coat fluoropolymer.
          4.Class 1 (.0007 inch) anodic thickness (Exterior Grade).
          5.Class 2 (.0004 inch) anodic thickness (Interior Grade).

          C.Galvanized Steel Sheets shall receive a factory applied and baked finish of baked polyester powder. Galvanized Steel is recommended for interior use only.

          D.Stainless Steel sheets shall receive a factory-applied finish:

          E.Bronze sheets shall receive a factory-applied Finish followed by an air-dry clear lacquer finish.

          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install column covers in accordance with manufacturer's written installation instructions and shop drawings.
 
          B.Column covers shall be erected plumb, level, square, true to line, securely anchored, and in proper alignment and relationship to work of other trades. Exterior joints shall be sealed by installer with backer rods and sealant.
 
          C.Column covers shall be inspected before installation to be free from dents, scratches and other defects.
 
          3.2CLEANING
 
          A.Removal of protective covering shall occur immediately after installation to prevent adhesive transfer.
 
          B.Clean all surfaces following installation.
 
          C.Maintenance per manufacturer's finish maintenance instructions.
 
          3.3PROTECTION
 
          A.Protection of column covers from damage by other trades after installation to be provided by general contractor.
