"Architect Clear" is a registered trademark of the Western Red Cedar Lumber Association.

For most applications, No. 304 (18-8) grade stainless steel provides adequate corrosion resistance; for decks exposed to salt air, use No. 316 grade. Other types of fasteners, such as electro-plated, can rust, disintegrate and react adversely with the natural preservatives present in cedar, resulting in stains and streaks.
