          1.4SUBMITTALS
 
          A.Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
 
          B.Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
          1.Preparation instructions and recommendations.
          2.Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
          3.Installation methods.
 
          C.Shop Drawings: Installation and seaming plan, showing finish, pattern, color, and backing; labeled.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete selection samples if colors have already been selected.
 
          D.Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.
 
          E.Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 8-1/2 by 11 inch (210 by 250 mm) pieces showing actual product finish, pattern, color, and backing.
 
          F.Manufacturer's Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.
 
          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing products specified in this section with minimum ten years documented experience.
 
          B.Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in performing Work of this section with minimum three years documented experience and trained and certified by the manufacturer.
 
          C.Pre-installation Meeting: Discuss waterproofing installation practices and precautions applicable to this project.
          1.Convene minimum of 7 days prior to start of installation.
          2.Require the attendance of:
          a.Contractor.
          b.Manufacturer's representative.
          c.Installation foreman.
          d.Other trades affected by this work.
          e.Architect.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
 
          D.Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.
          1.Finish areas designated by Architect.
          2.Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship and color is approved by Architect.
          3.Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.
 
          1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging, with seals and labels intact, until ready for installation.
 
          B.Store and handle materials to prevent damage.
          1.Place materials on pallets.
          2.Prevent creasing of rolled materials.
          3.Do not use polyethylene to cover stored materials (canvas tarpaulins are acceptable).
 
          C.Keep materials at temperature between 40 degrees F (4.4 degrees C) and 80 degrees F (26.6 degrees C). if adhesives are exposed to lower temperature, verify usability with manufacturer before using.
 
          D.Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
 
          1.7PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
 
          1.8WARRANTY
 
          A.Provide membrane manufacturer's 5 year warranty, covering water-tightness, materials, and material replacement.
 
          PART 2PRODUCTS
 
          2.1MANUFACTURERS

          9.Uniform Building Code Compliance: Complies with 2000 International Building Code (IBC) and 2000 International Residential Code (IRC) as a fire-retardant roof/walking deck covering and the ICBO Acceptance Criteria for Walking Decks, as evidenced by current Evaluation Report prepared by ICBO Evaluation Service (ICBO-ES AC39).
          10.Comply with CAN/CGSB-37.54.95.
 
          B.Surface Conditioners, Adhesives, Sealants, Fillers, and Cleaners: Provide as recommended by membrane manufacturer.
 
          C.Perimeter Fasteners: Mechanical fastening devices provided by membrane manufacturer; color coordinated to membrane color.
 
          D.Metal Flashings, Scupper, Overflow Drains, Roof Drains, and Trim provided by membrane manufacturer: PVC coated, color coordinated to membrane color.
 
          E.Adjacent Flashings: As specified in other sections; installed by others.
 
          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
 
          B.Verify that surfaces and site conditions are ready to receive work and conform to membrane manufacturer's requirements.
 
          C.Verify that deck is:
          1.Secure, well supported, solid, and in accordance with applicable code structural requirements.
          2.Clean and smooth, free of depressions, waves, and projections, properly sloped to drains, valleys, or eaves.
          3.Dry and free of ice and snow.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select the following paragraphs for precast concrete deck application as required. Delete if not applicable.
 
          D.Verify that adjacent precast deck members are flush within 1/4 inch (6 mm) vertical variation, with grout keys filled flush.
 
          E.If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          B.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          C.Coordinate timing of installation to avoid traffic over completed traffic membrane surfaces.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Edit the following paragraphs for deck application required. Delete paragraphs that are not applicable. Minimum deck surface is 3/4 inch exterior grade T&G plywood, with minimum C face exposed.
 
          D.Tongue and Groove Plywood Deck: Fill joints, knot holes, voids, and low areas with filler and sand smooth.
 
          E.Concrete Deck: Fill surface imperfections and variations with leveling compound. Test for and remove surface contaminants.
 
          F.Coordinate installation with installation of drains and similar accessories.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and applicable code requirements.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select the following paragraphs for Canadian application as required. Delete if not applicable.
 
          B.Install in accordance with CGSB-37-GP-55M.
 
          C.Do not install when temperature is below 25 degrees F (minus 3.8 degrees C) or above 98 degrees F (36.6 degrees C). Do not install when winds are gusting over 30 mph (48.3 kPa).
 
          D.Do not dilute primers, adhesives, coatings, or sealants.
 
          E.Install membrane with minimum number of seams possible. Overlap seams 3/4 inch (19 mm) in the direction of the slope to shed water and heat-weld all seams.
 
          F.Adhere membrane to substrate.
 
          G.Mechanically fasten or hot air weld to pvc coated flashings and seams all perimeter edges and penetrations.
 
          H.Install flashings and accessories. Seal around all penetrations, drains, and edges.
 
          3.4PROTECTION AND CLEANING
 
          A.Protect installed products until completion of project.
 
          B.Clean soiled areas in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
 
          C.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
