If tiles have been installed with over driven nails causing the ends of the tile to curve upward, tiles will never lay flat. Overdriven tiles must be removed and re-nailed properly.

E.Valleys: Either an open or closed valley design may be used.
1.Open Valley: Leave a minimum of 2 inches (52mm) on each side of the center of the valley exposed and uncovered by the roof tiles. A "V-Style" or "W-Style Valley" metal may be used.
2.Closed Valley: Cut the tiles in a straight line to fit no closer than 3/8 inch (10mm) against tile of adjoining roof slope.

F.Care must be taken to place tiles so color variations are evenly distributed over the entire roof area. Tiles between bundles and pallets must be shuffled to insure even distribution of color variations. "Patching" or "Blotching" in appearance is not acceptable. It is recommended that work not begin until all materials have been delivered to the job site. Contact The manufacturer's technical department for instruction on blending all material properly.

G.It is the responsibility of the Installer to insure that all tiles are bent back in a downward curve prior to installation. Do not install tiles with an upward curve.

          3.5FLASHING

A.Install all flashings as specified in Section 07620 using the following materials.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select metal flashing type(s). Delete those materials not required.
          1.Material: Galvanized Steel; 24 gauge (0.607 mm) complying with ASTM A 653/A 653M, G90/Z275.
          2.Material: Copper - 16 oz/sq ft (0.56 mm), complying with ASTM B 370.
          3.Material: Aluminum - 0.032 inch (0.8 mm), complying with ASTM B 209.

B.Install flashing metal in all valleys and where required on roof projections in accordance with NRCA guidelines.

C.Install metal starter strip at all eaves and roof edges in accordance with NRCA guidelines.

          3.6VENTILATION

A.Cut continuous vent slot through sheathing, stopping 18 inches (457 mm) from each end of ridge.

B.Cut opening at ridge 3 inches (76 mm) wide, centered on ridge. Stop at least 6 inches (151mm) from rakes or valleys.

C.Install ridge vent material full length of ridge, including uncut areas in accordance with the manufacturer's current installation requirements.

D.Cover ridge vent with hip and ridge tiles as required by application instructions.

          3.7PROTECTION

A.Protect installed products until completion of project.

B.Care must be taken to minimize foot traffic over completed areas of the roof. Roof tiles will show mud and dirt and cause appearance problems. The removal of dirt and debris is the responsibility of the applicator.

C.Prior to project closeout, inspect and remove all debris from roof, sweep clean and wash with a mild, non-bleaching detergent.

D.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
