          1.4DESIGN / PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
 
          A.Roofing tile materials and installation shall conform to the requirements of the applicable building code.
 
          B.Polypro AH160 Two Component Polyurethane Foam Adhesive materials and installation for flat low and high profile roof tile system shall conform to the requirements of Miami Dade County NOA No. 01-0521.02.
 
          1.5SUBMITTALS
 
          A.Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
 
          B.Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
          1.Preparation instructions and recommendations.
          2.Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
          3.Installation methods.
 
          C.Shop Drawings: Indicate adhesive locations, and installation details, tile layout with location of special adhesives and weather block sealers.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following paragraphs if LEED is not applicable.
 
          D.Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square, representing actual product, color, and patterns.
 
          E.Manufacturer's Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.
 
          1.6QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing products specified in this section with minimum three years documented experience.
 
          B.Installer Qualifications: Installer Company specializing in performing Work of this section with minimum three years documented experience and with applicators approved and certified by the adhesive manufacturer.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
 
          C.Mock-Up: In cooperation with roof tile adhesive manufacturer, roof tile manufacturer and installer, construct a mock-up of roof tile including adhesive products, eave and valley conditions, underlayment, field tile, rake edge, hip and ridge tile, and accessories.
          1.Finish areas designated by Architect.
          2.Mock-up shall be a minimum of a 10 foot (3.05 M) by 10 foot (3.05 M) area and include the edge, ridge, valley and other typical transition conditions anticipated.
          3.Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, color, and sheen are approved by Architect.

          4.Mock-up may not remain as part of Work.
          5.Accepted mock-up may remain as part of Work.
 
          1.7DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
 
          B.Maintain dry storage area for products of this section until installation of products.
 
          C.Store in cool, dry place at room temperature of 70 degrees F plus or minus 5 degrees F (21 to 24 degrees C). During cold weather, keep product at room temperature for 24 hours prior to use.
 
          D.Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
 
          1.8SEQUENCING
 
          A.Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
 
          1.9PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
 
          B.Do not overload the roof. Distribute stacks of tile uniformly on roof at not greater than 12 inches (305 mm) in height.
 
          PART 2PRODUCTS
 
          2.1MANUFACTURERS

          B.Substitutions: Not permitted.
 
          C.Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01600.
 
          2.2MATERIALS
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** OSI Pro-Series RT-600 Roof Tile Adhesive is ideal for tile repairs since new tiles can be glued to wood or mortar substrates in replacing the broken tiles. OSI Pro-Series RT-600 Roof Tile Adhesive can also be used for original installation of concrete, clay, slate or composite type roof tiles in conjunction with appropriate approved installation methods. OSI Pro-Series RT-600 Roof Tile Adhesive should not be used on expanded or extruded polystyrene foam or tar/asphalt impregnated materials.
 
          A.Roof Tile Adhesive: OSI RT-600 Roof Tile Adhesive is a premium grade synthetic rubber adhesive for the repair and installation of concrete, clay, slate or composite type roof tiles on existing roofs.
          1.Uplift Requirements:
          a.Roof Tile Adhesive meets all pertinent requirements of the Southern Florida Building Codes Amendment dated 3-4-86; Section 2309-2 (a), Table 23-B and Sections 3402-2 (c)(6) meeting uplift requirements up to 55 feet above grade.
          2.Resists high roof temperature

          e.Brown.
          4.Physical Properties:
          a.Type: Synthetic rubber and resins.
          b.Solids by Weight: 65 percent.
          c.Flash Point: 0 degrees F.
          d.Flammability: Extremely flammable while in use.
          e.Toxicity: Toxic only if swallowed (see MSDS).
          f.Open Time: 20 minutes @ 70 degrees F (21 degrees C), 50 percent RH.
          g.Cure Time: 24 hours
          h.Application Temperature: 30 degrees F (minus 1 degree C) to 100 degrees F (38 degrees C).
          i.Service Temperature: Minus 20 degrees F (minus 6.6 degrees C) to 180 degrees F (82 degrees C).
          j.Freeze-Thaw Stability: Will not freeze
          k.Clean Up: Mineral spirits or paint thinner
 
          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
 
          B.Verify deck meet code requirements for wind load and dead load requirements and is of sufficient thickness to accept fasteners.
 
          C.Verify roof penetrations are in place and flashed to deck surface.
 
          D.Verify roof openings are correctly framed prior to installing Work of this section.
 
          E.Verify surfaces are uniform, smooth, clean and dry.
 
          F.If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          B.Surfaces must be clean and free of dust, dirt, mud, ice, snow, standing water and other foreign substances prior to using adhesive.
 
          C.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          D.Protect underlayment during application of roof tile. Patch and punctures or tears prior to placing tile.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and the following:
          1.ICBO ER_6034P Concrete and Clay Roof Tile Installation Manual for Moderate Climate Regions Sept. 2002.
 
          B.All materials should be glued in place within 20 minutes after adhesive application. If work is delayed, remove excess adhesive and begin again.
 
          C.Apply 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch (6 mm to 9.5 mm) bead of adhesive to roof substrate. Use enough adhesive to ensure positive contact between surface areas to be bonded.
 
          D.Position materials to be bonded together by applying pressure within 10 minutes after adhesive application .
 
          E.Clean tools and excess adhesive with mineral spirits or paint thinner following manufacturer's precautions.
 
          F.Contact manufacturer or additional information regarding specific uses in the repair of loose or broken tiles.
 
          3.4PROTECTION
 
          A.Protect installed products until completion of project.
 
          B.Do not permit any traffic on roof surface until product is fully cured.
 
          C.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
