	1.5	QUALITY ASSURANCE
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Add installer quality assurance provisions. Call James Hardie Commercial desk for installation information and coordination in locating a qualified installer, 1-800-426-4051. Delete if not required.
		A.	Installer Qualifications: Minimum of 2 years experience with installation of similar products and listed by James Hardie as a JH Preferred Installation Company.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
		B.	Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.
			1.	Finish areas designated by Architect.
			2.	Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, color, and sheen are approved by Architect.
			3.	Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.
	1.6	DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
		A.	Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
		B.	Store siding flat on a smooth level surface. Protect edges and corners from chipping. Store sheets under cover and keep dry prior to installing.
		C.	Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
	1.7	PROJECT CONDITIONS
		A.	Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
	1.8	WARRANTY
		A.	Hardie HZ10 Reveal Panel Limited Product Warranty: 30-year limited product warranty against manufacturing defects.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete if workmanship warranty not required.
		B.	Workmanship Warranty: Application limited warranty for 2 years.

	2.1	MANUFACTURERS

	2.2	SIDING
		A.	Cementitious Siding Panels: 7/16" Hardie® HZ10 Reveal™ Panel as manufactured by James Hardie Building Products, Inc., 3 feet 11.5 inches (1206 mm) wide by 7 feet 11.5 inches (2426 mm) long.
		B.	Code Compliance Requirement for Siding Materials:
			1.	Fiber-cement siding, complies with ASTM C 1186 Type A Grade II.
			2.	Fiber-cement siding, complies with ASTM E 136 as a noncombustible material.
			3.	Fiber-cement siding, complies with ASTM E 84 Flame Spread Index = 0, Smoke Developed Index = 5.
			4.	Fiber-cement siding, complies with ASTM E 119 1 hour and 2 hour fire resistive assemblies listed with Warnock Hersey.
			5.	Fiber-cement siding, tested to ASTM E330 for Transverse Loads.
			6.	Intertek Warnock Hersey Product Listing.

	2.3	WEATHER BARRIER
		A.	Weather Barrier: James Hardie HardieWrap - Engineered for Climate and HardieWrap Flashing and Seam Tapes.
		B.	Code Compliance Requirement for Weather Barrier:
			1.	Thickness, 11 mil sheet.
			2.	Engineered for climate.
			3.	Breathability in accordance with ASTM E96.
			4.	Tear strength in accordance with ASTM D1117.
			5.	Water resistance in accordance with AATCC127.
			6.	Air Penetration in accordance with TAPPI - T460.
	2.4	ACCESSORIES
		A.	Trims: Reveal™ Trims by Fry Reglet in the following profiles and distributed by James Hardie. Reveal Trims shall confirm to a 6063 alloy in T-5 temper with a minimum thickness of .050 inch. All reveal trims are 12 feet in length.
			1.	Horizontal trim.
			2.	Vertical trim.
			3.	Horizontal end cut transition trim.
			4.	Outside corner trim.
			5.	Inside corner trim.
			6.	J channel trim.
			7.	Drip cap trim.
		B.	Finishes of Reveal Trims:
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete finish not required.
			1.	Chem Film for field painting of Reveal Trims; Chem Film Coating shall conform to ASTM N D1730
			2.	Clear anodized for shiny mill finish metallic aesthetic; clear anodizing shall conform to ASTM B244 and ASTM B136.
	2.5	FASTENERS
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Refer to applicable building code compliance reports for maximum basic wind speed for exposure category and select one fastener for attaching the Artisan Furring Strips to the frame and select one fastener for attaching the Panel to the furring strip, delete all that do not apply. ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** When fastening through maximum 1 inch thick foam insulation, increase the length of the fastener used to attach the Furring Strips to the frame by the thickness of insulation.
		A.	Fasteners: For attaching Hardie Reveal Panel direct to sheathing or to rain screen provide the following:
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete if no wood framing.
			1.	Wood Framing:
				a.	Siding nails, 0.092 inch shank by 0.222 inch head diameter by 2 inches long.
				b.	Screws, No. 10 by 0.375 inch head diameter by 1.5 inch long
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete if no steel framing.
			2.	Steel Framing: Screws, No. 8 by 1-5/8 inch long by 0.33 inch head diameter.
			3.	Fasteners shall be of high quality stainless steel to ensure resistance to corrosion. For field painting, fasteners should be treated to accept paint adhesion.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Certain geographic areas allow a minimum single coat of 100% acrylic or exterior grade latex, high quality alkali resistant paint on unprimed product. James Hardie recommends, minimum one coat primer plus on or two topcoats.
	2.6	FINISHES
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Field painted option: Delete if not required.
		A.	Factory Primer: Provide factory applied universal primer.
			1.	Primer: Factory applied sealer/primer by James Hardie. Apply flat sheen finishes to panels.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** The use of oil based paints on unprimed fiber cement could result in increased surface roughness, loss of adhesion, cracking or excessive chalking. James Hardie does not recommend the use of oil based paints over unprimed fiber cement siding products. Stains containing linseed oil are specifically designed for wood and may not be suitable for fiber cement siding products, primed or unprimed.
			2.	Topcoat: Refer to Section 09900 and Exterior Finish Schedule.
	PART 3	EXECUTION
	3.1	EXAMINATION
		A.	Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
		B.	If framing preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Wood framing provisions. Delete if not required.
		C.	Nominal 2 inch by 4 inch (51 m by 102 mm) wood framing selected for minimal shrinkage and complying with local building codes, including the use of water-resistive barriers or vapor barriers where required. Minimum 1-1/2 inches (38 mm) face and straight, true, of uniform dimensions and properly aligned.
			1.	Install water-resistive barriers and claddings to dry surfaces.
			2.	Repair any punctures or tears in the water-resistive barrier prior to the installation of the siding.
			3.	Protect siding from other trades.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Metal framing provisions. Delete if not required.
		D.	Minimum 20 gauge 3-5/8 inch (92 mm) C-Stud 16 inches maximum metal framing complying with local building codes, including the use of water-resistive barriers and/or vapor barriers where required. Minimum 1-1/2 inches (38 mm) face and straight, true, of uniform dimensions and properly aligned.
			1.	Install water-resistive barriers and claddings to dry surfaces.
			2.	Repair any punctures or tears in the water-resistive barrier prior to the installation of the siding.
			3.	Protect siding from other trades.
	3.2	PREPARATION
		A.	Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
		B.	Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
	3.3	INSTALLATION
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Local building code may permit the use of "water-repellent panel sheathing" instead of a "building paper type" water-resistive barrier. However, the manufacturer recommends the use of a "building paper type" water-resistive barrier in all siding applications. A vapor barrier may also be required.
		A.	Install materials in strict accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions.
		B.	Place fasteners no closer than 3/4 inch (9.5 mm) from panel edges and 2 inches (51 mm) from panel corners.
		C.	Use fasteners as specified in the James Hardie Tech Data sheet and in the Hardie Reveal Panel Installation Instruction.
		D.	Install Hardie Reveal Panel over James Hardie "Engineered for Climate " Hardie Wrap weather barrier.
		E.	Install panel using 1/2 inch (13 mm) spacers at horizontal joints. Leave bottom edge of panel above all horizontal trims exposed, no caulking shall be placed at this overlap of Horizontal Reveal Trim. Factory primed edge shall always be used.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Because of the volume of water that can pour down a sloped roof, one of the most critical flashing details occurs where a roof intersects a sidewall. The roof must be flashed with step flashing. Where the roof terminates, install a kickout to deflect water away from the siding. It is best to install a self-adhering membrane on the wall before the subfascia and trim boards are nailed in place, and then come back to install the kickout. To prevent water from dumping behind the siding and the end of the roof intersection, install a "kickout" of sufficient length and angle to direct the water running down the roof away from the siding
		F.	Install a kickout flashing to deflect water away from the siding at the roof intersection.
		G.	Install a self-adhering membrane on the wall before the subfascia and trim boards are nailed in place, and then install the kickout.
		H.	Allow minimum vertical clearance between the bottom edge of siding and any other material in strict accordance with the manufacturer's installation instructions and as determined by James Hardie Zone.
		I.	Maintain clearance between siding and adjacent finished grade.
		J.	Specific framing and fastener requirements - refer to the applicable building code compliance reports.
	3.4	FINISHING
		A.	Finish factory primed siding with a minimum of one coat of high quality 100 percent acrylic exterior flat grade paint within 180 days of installation. Follow paint manufacturer's written product recommendation and written application instructions. James Hardie recommends a finishes with a flat sheen for Reveal Panel finishing.
		B.	Field cut edges shall be coated during the installation process using an exterior grade primer/sealer that is compatible with the type of paint to used on project.
		C.	Provide Chem Film for field painting of Reveal Trims.
		D.	Provide Clear Anodized for shiny mill finish metallic aesthetic of Reveal Trims.
	3.5	PROTECTION
		A.	Protect installed products until completion of project.
		B.	Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
