Novik is a manufacturing firm dedicated to the design, manufacturing and marketing of exterior coverings for the residential and commercial construction market.

At the start of 1999, the business launched a plan to develop the manufacture of innovative paneling products, using injected polymers, imitating and economically replacing traditional materials such as cedar shingles, brick, stone and also offers various accessories.

It is in 2006 that Novik imposes itself on the lucrative roofing market by introducing two typical models of slate and clay roof tiles of injected polymer panels like the siding.

Novik is continually working on new projects to offer a more complete range of products in the construction market.

NOVISLATE® are high performance polymer products that are virtually maintenance-free. The tile resists expansion, retraction and will not split, crack or rot under extreme weather conditions, it is easy and quick to install, light weight, designed with an interlocking system requiring no overlap, and manufactured with a proprietary color-through process technology that provides a more accurate texture definition compared to other polymer or composite slate tile replica roofing systems.

          B.Perfect Shake Panel Installation:
          1.General:
a.Begin the installation from left to right and make sure that a wall is completed before beginning a new one. Begin at the lowest part of the structure.
b.Insert nail in the center of the slot at intervals of 16 inches (40.6 cm).
c.Do not completely hammer the nail in. Leave a gap of 1/16 inch (0.2 cm).
d.Make sure that all pieces are properly joined together.
e.When using J-trim, leave a space of 3/16 inches (0.5 cm) between the trim and the siding.
f.Cut material using a blade with 12 to 16 teeth per inch (2.5 cm) and use in the reversed position for a cleaner cut with a better finish.
2.Install the starter strip making sure that the horizontal starting line is perfectly level and square with the wall.
3.Cut the left side of the panel in a straight line. Insert panel into trim or decorative corner which is set at 1-7/8 inches (47.8 cm) from the wall extremity. Measure wall length to determine where to cut the first panel in order to avoid having a very small piece at the right end of the wall.
4.Install the next panel by hooking it into the starter strip and sliding over the previous panel. Make sure that the tabs on both sides are locked together and spaced equally.
5.Installation spacing for temperature conditions during installation shall be as follows:
          a.95 degrees F (35 degrees C) spacing between panels: 0.17 inches (0.4 cm).
          b.68 degrees F (20 degrees C) spacing between panels 0.22 inches (0.5 cm).
          c.41 degrees F (5 degrees C) spacing between panels 0.27 inches (0.7 cm).
6.After positioning each panel at the proper spacing for the installation temperature, nail in the center hole of the panel. Panel will move evenly in both directions from the center out in the case of contraction or expansion.
7.Each full panel should use a minimum of 6 nails. For pieces of panel, drill a 1/8 inch (0.32 cm) diameter hole at the center of the panel and at the same height as the other installation holes.
8.Eliminate stacking seams over seams by staggering subsequent courses in 8 inch (20.3 cm) increments. Alternate for following rows.
9.When two adjacent walls have been completed, install the first corner by sliding it on the starterstrip and nail in the top slot.
10.Set subsequent corners by inserting the bottom hook in the space on the top of the interior piece and set the top.
11.During installation be sure that the rows on adjacent walls are of the same height.
12.To fix siding at an area other than the oblong nail hole, at a concealed spot on the panel, drill a hole larger than the nail body but smaller than the nail head to permit contraction/expansion.
13.Do not mount accessories directly on the siding. Fasteners must be used on a solid surface.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select the following installation paragraphs for Half-Round Panels only. Delete if not applicable.

          C.Perfect Half-Round Installation:
          1.General:
a.Begin the installation from the center of the opening and make sure that wall is completed before beginning a new one.
2.Attach a 3/4 inch (1.9 cm) "J" trim on the perimeter making certain that the horizontal starting line is perfectly level.
3.Cut the siding at 1-1/4 inches (3.2 cm) below the bottom of the scale hollows. Cut only the quantity required for the first row.
4.Draw a line starting at the higher point and perpendicular to the horizontal line. Measure the distance and subtract 1-1/4 inches (3.2 cm) and divide by 6-1/2 inches (16.5 cm). This will give you the amount of rows required. For an even number of rows, start the first row so that hollow of a scale is in the middle of the opening. For an odd number of rows, start the first row so that the tip between two scales is in the middle of the opening.
5.Install the first row previously cut in the "J" starting strip. Leave a gap of 3/16 inches (0.5 cm)between the strip and the siding. Make certain that the first row is firmly in place and will not come out of the "J" strip.
6.Layer pieces by at least two scales between every row. Ensure that the line is straight.
7.Cut the last piece and drill a hole proportionate to the size of the nail. Leave a gap of 1/16 inch (0.2 cm) between the scale and the nail head.
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select the following installation paragraphs for Hand-split Shake, Hand-laid Brick and Hand-cut Stone panels only. Siding may be used inside but must not be installed next to a heat source like a fireplace, stove etc. Delete if not applicable.

D.Hand-split Shake, Hand-laid Brick and Hand-cut Stone Panel Installation:
          1.General:
a.Work at waist-level whenever possible, helping you to see at the back of panel if all the hooks are properly engaged.
b.To fix the siding at an area other than the oblong nail hole, at a concealed spot on the panel, drill a hole larger than the nail body but smaller than the nail head to permit contraction/expansion.
c.Do not completely hammer the nail in. Leave a gap of 1/16 inch (0.2 cm).
d.Make sure that all pieces are properly joined together.
e.When using J-trim, leave a space of 3/16 inches (0.5 cm) between the trim and the siding.
f.Cut material using a blade with 12 to 16 teeth per inch (2.5 cm) and use in the reversed position for a cleaner cut with a better finish.
g.Do not fix accessories directly on the siding. Fasteners must be fixed on a solid surface.
2.Install a starter strip at the lowest point of the structure. Make sure that it is level. Fasten every 12 inches (30.5 cm).
3.Fasten with galvanized roofing nails with a length that will penetrate into wood framing 1-1/2 inches (3.8 cm). Consider thickness of sheathing when determining length of galvanized roofing nail.
4.Masonry fastening, use a self drilling pan head 3/16 inch (0.5 cm) shaft tapcon fasteners length which must penetrate 1 inch (2.5 cm) into masonry. Consider thickness of insulating material applied over masonry when determining length of fastener.
5.At each wall vertical extremity, install Corner base leaving about 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) between the corner base and the starter strip. If only one wall section is being done, finish off with vertical J-Trim.
6.Work from left to right and from the lowest point upwards. Cut in a straight line at the left extremity of the panel.
7.Consider the length of the wall prior to proceeding with the first cut to minimize small panel pieces.
8.Insert the panel on the starter strip and make sure that all the hooks on the bottom of the panel are in place. Slide on the Corner base and leave 3/16 inch (0.5 cm) of space to allow the panel to permit expansion.
9.Fasten at least five different places on the fastening channel hole. Leave 1/32 inch (0.1 cm) space between the fastener and the siding.
10.When each panel is in the correct position, fasten at the center hole to allow an equal expansion/retraction on each side.
11.In the case of a panel that has been cut, a new center point must be created by piercing a 1/8 inch (0.31 cm) hole at the same height as the oblong fastening holes.
12.Installation spacing for temperature conditions during installation shall be as follows:
          a.95 degrees F (35 degrees C) spacing between panels: 0.17 inches (0.4 cm).
          b.68 degrees F (20 degrees C) spacing between panels 0.22 inches (0.5 cm).
          c.41 degrees F (5 degrees C) spacing between panels 0.27 inches (0.7 cm).
13.On the top right Corner of each panel is a temperature line guide that shows how much space to leave between the panels depending on the outdoor temperature during installation.
14.Continue the first row by securing the panel hooks located at the bottom horizontal edge of the panel to the starter strip and sliding it over the preceding one.
15.Before proceeding with the next row, please make sure that the height of the Corner is the same as the height of the panel. Make sure that the mortar line matches for the brick. Snap the Corners on the base when all the rows are done. In the case of the stone panel, it is normal that the mortar does not fit, align it to the lowest stone.
16.For the hand-split shake panel, the upper Corner is higher by 3/8 inch (1 cm) from the panel. If necessary adjust the height of the Corner base.
17.Install the next corner base by sliding it until it is supported by the lower corner base. Proceed with this row and the following rows by repeating steps 3 to 6 and make sure that at each row, the heights of corners coincide with row heights. Complete one wall before starting a new wall.
18.To avoid vertical panel seam in the same spots from one horizontal row to another, start the next row 8 inches (20.3 cm) from the starting point. Stagger vertical seams or panel joints every other row.
19.When all the walls are done, clip the Corner facade on the Corner bases.
