Cement Fiber Siding Trim and accessories by XtremeTrim consists sustainable extruded aluminum and PVC profiles. Usable in interior or exterior applications. XtremeTrim(R) profiles are designed to work together as a system to create an aesthetically attractive and durable appearance. It is a highly value-added product allowing many different, and even startlingly dramatic design options not available using other materials. The use of the reveal trim system allows blending in or creating a profile/color contrast with the cement siding (shadow lines etc.).
Our Reveal Panel Trim is available in standard primed (ready to paint), color match, and anodized finishes. Many architects are becoming ever more concerned about the longevity of the products they specify. While galvanized reveal trims are initially less expensive, they do not perform as well as aluminum in the long run.
Fiber Cement Flashing System products are not part of an Exterior Insulation Finishing System (EIFS) and not designed or intended to be used in an EIFS or similar system. XtremeTrim(R) panel reveal profiles do not form a moisture management system. The Architect and Builder are responsible for designing and installing a code compliant building envelope (rainscreens, etc.).

PART 3 EXECUTION

3.1
EXAMINATION

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** For Best Practice - Tamlyn recommends only using a drainable housewrap that exceeds AC38 when installing XtremeTrim(R); or a minimum 3/8 inch vented batten rainscreen where required by Code. This approach gives the best rain control by providing a drainage plane and air space behind the cladding/siding. Tamlyn XtremeTrim(R) products are not part of an EIFS system and not designed or intended to be used in an EIFS or similar system.

A.
Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
B.
If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
3.2
PREPARATION
A.
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
B.
Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
3.3
INSTALLATION
A.
Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B.
When cutting trim use a standard miter/chop saw with all-purpose metal cutting blade.
C.
All Trim cut edges must be painted and sealed to not void the warranty.
D.
All Trim profiles are all different, so follow manufacturer's installation instructions on each profile.
E.
For best practice use a minimum 2 inch membrane tape on each side of a vertical run and a minimum 2 inch membrane tape on the top side of all horizontal runs, as illustrated on each profile drawing.
F.
Use the siding manufacturer's best practice guide when installing Trim with their siding including size of fasteners.
G.
When using Trim within one mile of a coast line it is Best Practice to use anodized aluminum profiles in lieu of painted aluminum profiles, assuring that all ends are well coated.
H.
Stainless steel fasteners are recommended. Trim profiles may be secured in place with a few SS nails until fastened through panels and into studs during panel or plank fastening per siding manufacturer's instructions. Aluminum fasteners may also be used.
I.
Sealant is required between butt joints where two trims come together. This condition may also be further protected by use of a piece of XtremeFlashing behind the butt joint or with a metal flasher behind the joint. Carefully align butt joints for smooth transition if more than one length is used.
J.
Do not install Horizontal trims on horizontal applications where the exterior flange can catch water. Never install vertical application profiles horizontally.
3.4
CLEANING
A.
Protect installed products until completion of project.
B.
After installation, remove all sealants, caulking, and other materials from all surfaces, including adjacent work.
C.
Remove temporary coverings and protection of adjacent work areas. Repair or replace damaged installed products.
D.
Remove construction debris from project site and legally dispose of debris.
3.5
PROTECTION
A.
Protect installed products until completion of project.
B.
Protect aluminum from damage from grinding and polishing compounds, plaster, lime, acid, cement, or other harmful contaminants.
C.
Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
