          1.4SUBMITTALS
 
          A.Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
 
          B.Shop Drawings: Complete layout and elevation views, details of joints, edges, connections, and anchorages, and interfaces with adjacent construction.
 
          C.[ Product Data ]: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used.
 
          D.Manufacturer's installation instructions, including storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete selection samples if colors have already been selected.
 
          E.Selection Samples: For each finish specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Verify that samples on aluminum plate in the actual color are practical and available. If the finish is likely to have a color range, as anodizing certainly does, edit to indicate that the color range should be represented in the samples.
 
          F.Verification Samples: For each finish specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square, representing actual product and color.
 
          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Finish Coating Applicator Qualifications: Certified licensee of the coating manufacturer, with minimum of five years experience in the application of the type of finish specified.
 
          B.Installer Qualifications: Experienced in work of this type and magnitude, authorized by cladding manufacturer, and having experienced installers trained for the required work and familiar with the manufacturer's installation instructions.
 
          1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Package panels using methods that will prevent damage and soiling during delivery and storage.
          1.Protect finishes and edges in accordance with manufacturer's recommendations.
          2.Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
 
          B.Cover packages with plastic sheeting if stored outdoors.
 
          C.Do not expose panels covered with strippable film to sunlight or extreme heat.
 
          D.Do not install damaged products; remove from site.
 
          PART 2PRODUCTS
 
          2.1MANUFACTURERS

          B.Substitutions: Not permitted.
 
          C.Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01600; include with substitution request the following:
          1.Name and description of product and manufacturer.
          2.Information about 3 projects of similar type and magnitude, with project name, address, architect and contractor names; be prepared to coordinate and accompany Architect on site visits.
          3.Product mock-up showing intersection of 4 panels and clearly illustrating the assembly.
          4.Drawings of any details that are different from those in contract documents.
          5.Any disclaimers or exclusions.
 
          D.Single Source: Provide entire cladding system including finish as the responsibility of a single fabricator.
 
          2.2ALUMINUM PLATE CLADDING
 
          A.Cladding: Custom fabricated aluminum plate panel system, factory finished, with concealed fasteners; complete with supports, anchors, trim, and flashings.
          1.Configuration and Dimensions: As indicated on drawings.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete all but one of the following statements about design wind loads.
          2.Design to withstand wind loads as specified in ________ building code without permanent deformation.
          3.Design to withstand wind loads as specified in ASCE 7 without permanent deformation.
          4.Design to withstand positive and negative wind loads of ___ psf (___ kPa) without permanent deformation.
          5.Design to prevent rain penetration.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the words "glass breakage" in the following paragraph if no glass is set into the cladding system.
          6.Design to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction within cladding system and between cladding and substrate without buckling, permanent distortion, glass breakage, failure of joint seals, water penetration, undue stress on fasteners, or other damage.
          7.Design fastenings to structure to allow for normal building movement, deflection, and erection tolerances without application of stress to cladding or detrimental effects on structural integrity of connections.
          8.Separate dissimilar metals to prevent electrolytic action; separate metals from cementitious materials.
          9.Where possible, take field measurements before starting fabrication.
 
          B.Panels: Solid aluminum plate, 0.120 inch (3 mm) thick, with corners fully welded and ground smooth; all fabrication complete prior to application of finish.
          1.Appearance Tolerance: No oil canning, scratches, dents, stiffener read-through, or other blemishes, both before and after application of finish.
          2.Panel Flatness: Maximum of 0.2 percent of panel dimension but not more than 0.187 inch (4.7 mm).
          3.Width and Length Tolerance: Plus/minus 1/32 inch (0.8 mm) for dimensions up to 48 inches (1220 mm); plus/minus ___ for dimensions between 48 and 132 inches (1220 and 3360 mm).
          4.Squareness Tolerance: Maximum of 4.7 mm difference between diagonal measurements.
          5.Finish Coating: PPG Duranar XL, 3 coat system; all panels of each color finished from same batch; applied according to manufacturer's instructions.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete one of the following two paragraphs.
          6.Color: To be selected by Architect.
          7.Color: ________.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Edit the following paragraph if necessary to clearly indicate the scope of trim and flashings required to be furnished as part of the system.
 
          C.Trim and Flashings: Factory fabricated to match panels; provide all trim and flashings that are in contact with cladding panels.
 
          D.Sub-Girts and Supports: Hot-dipped galvanized steel; 18 gage, 0.048 inch (1.2 mm) thick, minimum; zinc coated in accordance with ASTM A 123/A 123M; provide all supports, bracing, stiffeners, and reinforcement necessary to achieve design requirements.
 
          E.Insulation: Extruded polystyrene board, 2 inches (50 mm) thick, R-value of 10.
 
          F.Isolation Material: Bituminous paint, separation tape, or PVC shims.
 
          G.Anchors and Fasteners: Material that will last the lifetime of the building.
          1.Screws: Stainless steel.
 
          H.Joint Sealant: Tremco Dymeric, color as selected from manufacturer's standard colors.
 
          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
 
          B.If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          C.Verify that related work affecting dimensions has been constructed within acceptable dimensional tolerances.
 
          D.Start of installation constitutes acceptance of existing conditions.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          B.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
 
          B.Have a representative of the manufacturer on site during entire installation period.
 
          C.Separate dissimilar metals.
 
          D.Securely anchor to building structure in such a manner as to achieve design requirements; do not use exposed fasteners.
 
          E.Install anchors intended to allow movement in such a manner as to allow movement.
 
          F.Install insulation where indicated.
 
          G.Seal all joints between panels and between cladding and adjacent materials.
 
          H.Remove labels, strippable film, and other protective materials.
 
          3.4PROTECTION
 
          A.Protect installed products and finishes until completion of project.
 
          B.Replace damaged products before Substantial Completion; damage to finish may be repaired if acceptable to Architect.
