Henkel Corporation OSI® GreenSeries™ is the first green brand in the adhesives and sealants category, that meet both energy efficiency and global impact standards. The line offers a full range of green caulks, sealants and adhesives making it easier for professionals and consumers to identify products that can help make homes more energy efficient by preventing air from escaping through cracks. In addition, the entire line of OSI® GreenSeries™ has reduced or eliminated harmful VOC (volatile organic compound) levels, designed in accordance with green building specifications.

Currently, fifteen states have passed or are in the process of creating regulations that limit VOC-emissions, and several other states are following suit. The chemicals, which are contained in adhesives and sealants, emit into the atmosphere, resulting in air pollution that can also irritate allergies, asthmatic conditions, and potentially lead to health risks after continual exposure.

Two national organizations leading the green building initiative, which have also included criteria specific to the use of adhesives and sealants, are the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), with their Model Green Home Building Guidelines, and the U.S. Green Building Council, with their LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Green Building Rating System®.

This specification includes Henkel Corporation OSI® GreenSeries™ FlameSeal® Fire, Smoke & Draft Stop Sealant is a multi-purpose, one compound elastomeric product for sealing joints and service penetrations in fire separations and firewalls. It is designed to prevent the passage of flames, smoke and fumes under actual fire conditions of 1-, 2-, and 3-hour fire resistance rated systems.
