	2.4	SUBMITTALS
		A.	Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
		B.	[ Product Data ]: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
			1.	Preparation instructions and recommendations.
			2.	Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
			3.	Installation methods.
		C.	Shop Drawings: Show fabrication and installation details for all components. Include plan, elevation and section details and attachments to other Work.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete selection samples if colors have already been selected.
		D.	Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.
		E.	Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square, representing actual product, color, and patterns.
	2.5	QUALITY ASSURANCE
		A.	Manufacturer Qualifications: Single manufacturer with a minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing and engineering, fabricating interior aluminum doors, frames and other components of aluminum framing shall provide all primary products specified in this section.
		B.	Installer Qualifications: Installer shall have a minimum of five (5) years experience successfully installing systems of similar type and scope as those specified in this section.
		C.	Fire Rated Assemblies:
			1.	Where scheduled, provide aluminum frames constructed in accordance with UBC Standard 7-2 (1997) positive pressure, 20 minute assemblies with hose stream test.
				a.	Single swing openings up to 4 feet wide and 9 feet high.
				b.	Paired openings up to 7 feet wide by 9 feet high.
			2.	Where required and accepted by local code provide aluminum frames constructed in accordance with UBC standard 43.2, NFPA252 and UL10(b) for 45 minute rated assemblies.
				a.	Single swing openings up to 3 feet wide and 9 feet high.
				b.	Paired openings up to 6 feet wide by 9 feet high.
			3.	Labels shall be permanently fastened on each frame as defined by NFPA and the testing authority.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
		D.	Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.
			1.	Finish areas designated by Architect.
			2.	Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, color, and sheen are approved by Architect.
			3.	Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.
	2.6	DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
		A.	Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
	2.7	PROJECT CONDITIONS
		A.	Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
	2.8	WARRANTY
		A.	Upon project closeout, provide to owner a copy of the manufacturer's limited warranty against manufacturing defect for a duration of two (2) years.
	PART 3	PRODUCTS
	3.1	MANUFACTURERS

		B.	Substitutions: Not permitted.
		C.	Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01600.
	3.2	MATERIALS
		A.	Extruded Aluminum: ASTM B 221 Alloy 6063-T5 or alloy and temper required to suit structural and finish requirements.
		B.	Glass: As specified in Section 08800.
	3.3	SYSTEM
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select WALL TYPE(S). Delete walls not specifically required for this project.
		A.	350 Series Wall: Nominal 3 1/2 inch (89mm) deep partition wall. Wall configuration, door and glass locations shall be as shown on contract drawings. 3/32 inch (2.4mm) tolerance is provided to allow for drywall inconsistencies.
		B.	375 Series Wall: Nominal 3 3/4 inch (95mm) deep partition wall. Wall configuration, door and glass locations shall be as shown on contract drawings. 3/32 inch (2.4mm) tolerance is provided to allow for drywall inconsistencies.
		C.	487 Series Wall: Nominal 4 7/8 inch (124mm) deep partition wall. Wall configuration, door and glass locations shall be as shown on contract drawings. 3/32 inch (2.4mm) tolerance is provided to allow for drywall inconsistencies.
	3.4	COMPONENTS
		A.	Door Frames: 0.062 inch (1.6mm) thick aluminum reinforced at hinge and strike points.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** THROAT DEPTH is adjustable at door frames from 3 inches (76mm) to 7 1/4 inches (184mm). Enter specified throat depth where applicable. Delete one of the next two paragraphs.
			1.	Throat Depth: To match nominal wall depth.
			2.	Throat Depth: As shown on Contract Drawings.
		B.	Glass Frames: 0.062 inch (1.6mm) thick aluminum designed for glass thickness specified on contract drawings.
		C.	Trim: 0.062 inch (1.6mm) thick snap-in aluminum glass stops with no exposed fasteners.
		D.	Glazing Gaskets: Manufacturer's standard extruded or molded vinyl designed to accommodate thickness of glazing specified.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select GLAZING GASKET COLOR. Delete two of the next three paragraphs.
			1.	Color: Black.
			2.	Color: White.
			3.	Color: Grey.
		E.	Door Silencers: Manufacturer's standard mohair or vinyl mutes shall be located at all doors.

		F.	Glazing: Glass as specified in section 08800.

			1.	Fasteners: Aluminum
			2.	Fasteners: Non-magnetic stainless steel.
			3.	Fasteners: Fully concealed.
			4.	Hinges: 4 1/2 inches x 4 1/2 inches x .134 inch thickness (standard weight), 5 knuckle aluminum hinges.
			5.	Prepare frames to receive door hanging and closure hardware. Coordinate with section 08710.
	3.5	FABRICATION
		A.	Machine jambs and prepare for hardware, with concealed reinforcement plates, drilled and tapped as required, and fastened within the frame with concealed screws.
		B.	Provide concealed corner reinforcements and alignment clips for precise butt or mitered connections.
		C.	Where definable dimensions can be determined, pre-engineer and cut at the factory, all components to the greatest extents practical. Field fabrication of linear glazing components is not permitted. Allow 2 inches (51mm) excess vertical length for scribing to suit floor conditions.
		D.	Fabricate frames for glazing to allow glass replacement without dismantling frame.
		E.	Fabricate all components to provide secure installation with no exposed fasteners.
	3.6	FINISHES
		A.	Comply with NAAMM's "Metal Finishes Manual for Architectural and Metal Products" for recommendations relative to applying and designating finishes.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Choose from the following selections for exposed METAL FINISHES and modify the included text as required. Finish designations prefixed by "AA" comply with the system established by the Aluminum Association for designating aluminum finishes. Delete one of the next two paragraphs.
		B.	Finish: Class II, Clear Anodic Finish - AA-M12C22A31 complying with AAMA 607.1
			1.	Mechanical Finish: Non-specular as fabricated.
			2.	Chemical Finish: Etched, medium matte anodic coating, Architectural Class II clear coating. Minimum 0.010mm (.0004 inches) thick.
		C.	Finish: Baked Enamel - Each component shall be thoroughly pre-treated with an etching bath to remove foreign matter and enhance bonding of the coatings to the metal. The coatings application consists of a multiple-stage electrostatic application of thermosetting polyester enamel. The finish is baked to ensure hardness, in compliance with test procedure AAMA 603.8-1980 for pigmented organic coating on extruded aluminum.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select FINISH COLOR required. Delete six of the next seven paragraphs.
			1.	Finish Color: As specified by Architect from manufacturers submitted samples.
			2.	Finish Color: Bronze Enamel.
			3.	Finish Color: Black Enamel.
			4.	Finish Color: White Enamel.
			5.	Finish Color: Beige Enamel.
			6.	Finish Color: Metallic Silver Enamel.
			7.	Finish Color: Grey Enamel.
		D.	Apply finish to aluminum sheet after perforation and fabrication. Finish must be painted in fabricator's own facility.
		E.	Apply finish to other grid, frames, and extrusions that are exposed, after fabrication.
	PART 4	EXECUTION
	4.1	EXAMINATION
		A.	Examine floor, walls and ceilings for suitable conditions where interior aluminum frames are to be installed.
		B.	Verify that wall thickness does not exceed standard tolerances allowed by throat size indicated.
		C.	Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
		D.	If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
	4.2	PREPARATION
		A.	Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
		B.	Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
	4.3	INSTALLATION
		A.	Install in accordance with manufacturer's written installation instructions and approved shop drawings.
		B.	Install frames plumb and square, securely anchored to substrates with fasteners recommended by the frame manufacturer.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following paragraph if clear anodized finish is not specified.
		C.	Where applicable, comply with manufacturer's recommendation for remedying loose fitting trim conditions.
	4.4	CLEANING AND ADJUSTING
		A.	Clean exposed frames promptly after installation using cleaning methods recommended by the frame manufacturer.
		B.	Clean and maintain anodized aluminum according to AAMA 609.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the following paragraph if clear anodized finish is not specified.
		C.	Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
		D.	Touch-Up marred areas so repair is not visible from a distance of 48 inches (1219mm). Substantially damaged frames that cannot be satisfactorily repaired must be removed and replaced prior to final inspection.
	4.5	PROTECTION
		A.	Protect installed products until completion of project.
