          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications:
          1.Provide labels approved by a certified fire testing agency, such as ITS- Warnock Hersey or Underwriters Laboratories, for each product according to the rating design.
          2.Attach labels to doors/frames according to labeling authorities rules and regulations.
          3.Provide certified personnel for consultation in the event of installation discrepancies.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
 
          B.Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.
          1.Install assembly in areas designated by Architect.
          2.Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship and installation are approved by Architect.
          3.Modify mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.
 
          1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
          1.Doors/frames shall be packaged with sheet foam and poly bags to adequately protect product during delivery phase.
          2.Inspect carefully all products at time of delivery.
 
          B.Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
 
          1.7PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
          1.Relative humidity shall be 30 to 50 percent at least 24 hours before installation and maintained thereafter.
          2.Temperature shall be 60 to 80 degrees F (15 to 27 degrees C) at least 24 hours before installation and maintained thereafter.
 
          PART 2PRODUCTS
 
          2.1MANUFACTURERS

          2.2STILE AND RAIL WOOD DOORS
 
          A.True Stile and Rail, Fire Rated Doors:
          1.Components and assemblies shall conform to certifying laboratory's manufacturing specifications minimum sizes and tolerances.
          2.Veneers shall be not less than 0.10 inch (2.54 mm) thick (solid or laminated).
          3.Veneers shall be laid up according to shop drawing details.
          4.Assemblies shall be pre-fitted at manufacturers facility according to sizes scheduled or required.
 
          B.Positive Pressure Fire Rated Doors:
          1.Door construction shall conform to certifying laboratory's manufacturing specifications for positive pressure standards.
          2.Doors Assemblies shall be labeled with the words "Positive Pressure".
          3.Doors assemblies are marked with fire rating category:
          a.Category "A" - No additional edge sealing required.
          b.Category "B" - additional edge sealing required (which must be installed by a licensed installer).
          c.Where necessary or required by the Authority Having Jurisdiction, an additional smoke seal shall be added to comply with the smoke rating.
 
          C.Fabrication:
          1.Doors shall be fabricated according to certifying laboratory's manufacturing manual for the product specified.
          2.Doors assemblies shall be fabricated according to certifying lab's manufacturing manual for tolerances, operation, and hardware preparation/installation.
          3.Fire rated door and frame assembly complies with assembly rating without requirement for applied casing.

          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
          1.Ensure rough opening sizes conform to specified shop drawings.
          2.Ensure walls are the correct type and rating to receive door assemblies.
 
          B.If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
          1.Acclimate door unit to site environment 24 hours before installation.
          2.Clean substrates thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
 
          B.Install door frames with proper type and length screws according to manufacturers written installation instructions.
 
          C.Install doors into frames according to manufacturers written instructions, then shim as necessary to adjust spacing for proper fit and operation of entire unit.
 
          D.Install hardware per hardware manufacturer's specifications to comply with tested assembly requirements.
          1.Pre-drill pilot holes to the correct width and depth necessary for hardware mounting screws.
          2.Fit hardware to proper position for unrestricted function.
          3.Check hardware for proper operation when completed.
 
          3.4PROTECTION
 
          A.Protect installed products until completion of project.
 
          B.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
