	Fimbel Door Corporation has been manufacturing standard, custom, and specially engineered products since 1924. Originally in Hillside, NJ, Fimbel moved to Whitehouse in 1969 and now operates in three plants totaling over 350,000 square feet. Fimbel Products are environmentally safe without damaging CFC foams. Insulated products are designed for maximum efficiency. Quality control insures each Fimbel customer will get the finest doors and operators available. Our Engineering department is available to provide assistance to Architects, engineers, and customers to create engineering specifications and solutions for all types of doors and electric operators. .

	1.3	SUBMITTALS

	1.4	QUALITY ASSURANCE
		A.	Manufacturer Qualifications:
			1.	Manufacturer's Certificate: Certify that products meet or exceed specified requirements.
			2.	Provide each sectional overhead door as a complete unit produced by a single manufacturer, including frames, sections, brackets, guides, tracks, counterbalance mechanisms, hardware, operators, and installation accessories.
		B.	Installer Qualifications:
			1.	Submit data for firms and persons to demonstrate their capabilities and experience. Include list of completed projects with project name(s), addresses, names of Architect(s) and Owner(s), plus other relevant information.
		C.	Product Requirements:
			1.	Wind Loading: Design and reinforce sectional overhead doors to withstand a minimum 20 psf (96 kg/sm) wind-loading pressure unless indicated otherwise.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
		D.	Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.

		A.	Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
		B.	Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
	1.6	PROJECT CONDITIONS
		A.	Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

	2.8	TRACKS, SUPPORTS, AND ACCESSORIES
		A.	Tracks: Provide manufacturer's standard galvanized steel track system, sizing for door size and weight, and designed clearance shown. Provide complete track assembly including brackets, bracing and reinforcing for rigid support of ball-bearing roller guides for required door type and size. Slope tracks at proper angle from vertical or otherwise design to ensure tight closure at jambs when door unit is closed. Weld or bolt to track supports. Slot Vertical sections of track at 2 inches (51 mm) o.c. for door-drop safety device.
		B.	Track Reinforcement and Supports: Provide galvanized steel track reinforcement and support members. Secure, reinforce and support tracks as required for size and weight of door to provide strength and rigidity without sag, sway, and vibration during opening and closing of doors.
		C.	Support and attach tracks to opening jambs with continuous angle welded to tracks and attached to wall. Support horizontally (ceiling tracks) with continuous angle welded to track and supported by laterally braced attachments to overhead structural members at curve and end of tracks.
		D.	Weather Seals: Provide continuous rubber, neoprene, or flexible vinyl adjustable weather-strip gasket at tops and compressible astragals on bottoms of each overhead door.
			1.	Provide continuous flexible seals at doorjamb edges for a fully weather tight installation.
	2.9	HARDWARE
		A.	Provide heavy-duty, rust-resistant hardware, with galvanized or cadmium-plated or stainless steel fasteners, to suit type of door.
		B.	Hinges: Provide heavy-duty steel hinges at each end stile and at each intermediate stile, per manufacturer's recommendation for size of door. Attach hinges to door sections through stiles and rails with bolts and lock nuts or lock washers and nuts. Use rivets or self-tapping fasteners where access to nuts is not possible. Provide double-end hinges, where required, for doors exceeding 16 feet in width, unless otherwise recommended by door manufacturer.
			1.	Hardened steel tires.
			2.	Lock: Cylinder as scheduled. Refer to Section 08710.
	2.10	COUNTERBALANCING MECHANISM
		A.	Provide cast-aluminum or gray-iron casting cable drums, grooved to receive cable. Mount counterbalance mechanism with manufacturer's standard ball-bearing brackets at each end of the shaft. Provide one additional midpoint bracket for shafts up to 16 feet (4877 mm) long and two additional brackets at one-third points to support shafts over 16 feet (4877 mm) long, unless closer spacing recommended by door manufacturer.
		B.	Provide a spring bumper at each horizontal track to cushion door at end of opening operation.

	2.11	DOOR OPERATORS
		A.	General: Furnish electric door-operator assembly of size and capacity recommended and provided by door manufacturer, complete with electric motor and factory pre-wired motor controls, reduction unit, solenoid-operated brake, clutch, remote-control stations and control devices.
		B.	Provide hand operated disconnect or mechanism for automatically engaging sprocket-chain Operator and releasing brake for emergency manual operation. Include interlock device to automatically prevent motor from operating when emergency sprocket is engaged.
		C.	Design operator so that motor may be removed without disturbing limit-switch adjustment and without affecting emergency auxiliary operator.
		D.	Electric Motors: Provide high-starting torque, reversible, constant duty, Class A-insulated electric motors with overload protection, sized to move door in either direction, from a position, at not less than 2/3 foot per second (201 mm/sec) nor more than 1 foot per second (305 mm/sec).
			1.	Coordinate wiring requirements and current characteristics of motors with building electrical system.
			2.	Provide open-drip-proof type motor, a controller with NEMA Type I enclosure.
		E.	Remote Control Station: Provide momentary-contact, three-button control station with push button controls labeled "Open", "Close", and "Stop".

	PART 3	EXECUTION
	3.1	EXAMINATION
		A.	Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
		B.	If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
	3.2	PREPARATION
		A.	Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
		B.	Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
	3.3	INSTALLATION
		A.	Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
		B.	General: Install door, and track, and operating equipment complete with necessary hardware, jamb and head mold stops, anchors, inserts, hangers, and equipment supports according to shop drawings, manufacturers instructions, and as specified.
		C.	Fasten Vertical track assembly to framing at not less than 24 inches (610 mm) o.c. Hang horizontal track from structural overhead framing with angle or channel hangers, welded and bolt-fastened in place. Provide sway bracing, diagonal bracing, and reinforcing as required for rigid installation of track and door operating equipment.
		D.	After completing installation, including work by other trades, lubricate, test, and adjust doors to operate easily, free from warp, twist, or distortion and fitting weather tight for entire perimeter.
	3.4	PROTECTION
		A.	Protect installed products until completion of project.
		B.	Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
