No field alterations to construction of the units fabricated under acceptable standards is allowed unless approved by the manufacturer and the architect.

Replacement of glazing shall be installed from the secure side of window or wall unit using 1 inch x 1 inch (25 mm x 25 mm) screw applied stops.

1.

Design Requirements: Frames shall be of the "non-ricochet type". The design is intended to permit the capture and retention of an attacking projectile lessening the potential of a random injury or lateral penetration. The capturing barrier shall be Armortex UL Listed Bullet Resistant Fiberglass manufactured by Armortex(R) Frames shall be of a protection level equal to or greater than the glazing. No field alterations to the construction of the units fabricated under the acceptable standards shall be allowed unless approved by the manufacturer and the architect. Welds shall be in accordance with the requirements and standard practices of the American Welding Society. Exposed welds shall be ground flush and finished smooth. Standard manufacturing tolerances shall be +/- 1/16 inch (1.6 mm) for frame opening, diagonal dimensions of frame, overall frame width, height, and depth. Aluminum or aluminum clad units are not acceptable.

Where multiple operable windows occur all latches shall be keyed alike.

Head and sill shall be one piece extrusion with no integral weep system at the sill. Jambs will be two piece extrusions with removable faces to allow for re-glazing. Mullions shall be three piece extrusions with removable faces to allow for glazing and individual light replacement. All aluminum extrusions shall be 6061-T6 alloy temper or equal with a minimum tensile strength of 38.0 ksi yield. All fasteners shall be No. 12 TEKS zinc coated with self-sealing neoprene washers. Baffle Transaction Window System:
1.
Bullet resistant baffle design transaction barriers as manufactured by Armortex.
2.
Design Requirements: The assembly shall provide single or multiple transaction positions utilizing the "natural voice" baffle configuration. This design shall employ offset vertical standing vision panels and 5 inches (127 mm) baffles to complete the "natural voice" design as well as to protect against angled ballistic penetrations. Components shall be manufactured in strict accordance with the specifications, design and details. All vision panels and baffles shall be cut to size with all exposed edges polished. Necessary holes shall be pre drilled and tapped where required. Stainless Steel assembly screws and acrylic spacers shall be provided. Clear anodized angles and channels shall be provided in field lengths. Anchor screws shall be provided by the installer. No field alterations to the construction of the units fabricated under the acceptable standards shall be allowed unless approved by the manufacturer and the architect. Standard manufacturing tolerances shall be +/- 1/16 inch (1.6 mm).

PART 3 EXECUTION
 
3.1
EXAMINATION
A.
Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
B.
If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
3.2
PREPARATION
A.
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
B.
Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
3.3
INSTALLATION
A.
Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Install plumb, level, square, true to line, and without warp or rack. Provide all fasteners required for installation.
B.
Anchor frames securely in place to supports. Use attachment methods permitting adjustment for construction tolerances, irregularities, alignment, and expansion and contraction.
C.
Separate aluminum from other metal surfaces with bituminous coatings or other means approved by Architect.
D.
Sheet Metal Flashing: Coordinate with sheet metal flashing as specified in Section 07620.
E.
Joint Sealants: Install joint sealants as specified in Section 07920.
F.
Adjust door equipment for correct function and smooth operation. Verify water and weather tight installation as applicable.
3.4
FIELD QUALITY CONTROL
A.
Manufacturer's representative to verify that installation is in conformance to the manufacturer's recommendations.
3.5
CLEANING
A.
Clean interior and exterior glass surfaces promptly after installation in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B.
Remove excess joint sealant in accordance with sealant manufacturer's instructions.
C.
Do not use harsh cleaning materials or methods that would damage glazing or finish.
3.6
PROTECTION
A.
Protect installed products until completion of project.
