Dawson Doors is a custom entrance manufacturer that produces one-piece face Custom Series, stile and rail Designer Series, Clad Aluminum Series, Balanced Doors and fixed Window/Curtainwall. Doors can be provided in hinged and sliding configurations and stainless steel or bronze construction with a variety of finishes.
All products are custom built to comply with project requirements as specified by the architectural team. Each entrance system that Dawson Doors produces is unique. Dawson Doors can complete the entire entry including door, frame, canopy and any other related architectural features.
This specification includes Dawson Doors Aluminum Clad Series, Standard Swing Bronze Custom and Designer Series, Ultra Narrow Stile Series and All Glass Entrances. Contact the Dawson sales office or factory representative to begin the process of creating an entrance to your building equal to none.

          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE

          2.Entrance doors and frames shall be fabricated by a single manufacturer.
          3.Manufacturer must be ISO certified.
 
          1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging to prevent damaging and marring finishes until ready for installation.
 
          B.Protect metal surfaces from contact with lime, mortar, cement, acids, and other harmful surfaces and from careless handling, storage or machining.
 
          1.7SEQUENCING
 
          A.Ensure that locating templates and other information required for installation of products of this section are furnished to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
 
          B.Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.

          2.4FABRICATION
 
          A.Components shall be fabricated in accordance with approved shop drawings. Components shall be shop fabricated to greatest extent practicable to minimize field cutting, splicing and fastening. Burrs shall be removed from cut edges.
 
          B.Entrance systems shall be fabricated with connections as indicated on approved shop drawings.
          1.Bronze welding shall be in accordance with AWS A5.8/A5.8M, performed by qualified welders.
          2.Stainless steel welding shall be in accordance with AWS D1.6, performed by qualified welders.
          3.Welding shall not distort members or deface exposed finish.
          4.Welds shall be ground smooth; blended and refinished to match adjacent finish on exposed surfaces.
 
          C.Entrance systems shall be factory prepared in accordance manufacturer's templates for finish hardware.
          1.Frames and door stiles and rails shall be mortised and reinforced to receive finish hardware in accordance with approved shop drawings.
          2.Continuous reinforcement shall be welded into door body. Three tier metal thickness shall be welded into door body as required for hardware reinforcement.

          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
 
          B.If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          B.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions and approved shop drawings.
 
          B.Entrances and framing systems shall be installed plumb, level and true to line, within specified tolerances.
          1.Before anchoring to structure, framing shall be shimmed and braced plumb, level and in designated location.
          2.Installation Tolerances: Maximum variation from plumb, level or designated position, 1/8 inch (3 mm) in 12 feet (3660 mm), not to exceed 1/4 inch (6 mm) over entire length.
 
          C.Frame Installation: Frames shall be installed without use of exposed fasteners, except where indicated on shop drawings.
 
          D.Entrance Door Installation.
          1.Perimeter of thresholds shall be caulked using exterior sealant.
          2.Entrance doors and hardware shall be installed in accordance with manufacturer's product data.
          3.Hardware shall be adjusted for proper operation.
          4.Door closers shall be adjusted for smooth operation throughout swing.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** It is strongly recommended that a lacquer coating be applied by a professional finisher after the job is erected (and over an oxidized or patina finish). It is further recommended that the finisher perform regular cleaning, maintenance, and refinishing of your product.
 
          E.Field Finishing Bronze Materials: After installation is complete, the following finishing step shall be performed on exposed bronze surfaces.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select the one or both of the following paragraphs to suit the specified bronze finish. Clear lacquer coating is not required for oxidized finishes, but will provide protection from elements and limit finish changes from exposure.
          1.Bronze surfaces shall be treated to form oxidation to match approved finish samples.

          3.4CLEANING:
