	1.4	DESIGN / PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
		A.	Windows are tested to American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA) and National Fenestration Rating Council (NFRC) standards.
		B.	Window meet or exceeds AAMA/NWWDA-101.1S-2-97 and the structural ratings specified.
		C.	Performance Requirement:
			1.	Air Infiltration: Air leakage shall not exceed 0.3 cfm/ft at test pressure of 6.24 psf.
			2.	Water Infiltration: No uncontrolled leakage when tested in accordance with ASTM E 331 at a test pressure of 12 psf.
			3.	Life Cycle Tests: When tested in accordance with AAMA 910-93 there shall be no damage to fasteners, hardware parts or any other damage which could cause the window to be inoperable, and shall meet air infiltration and water resistance tests (1) and (2) above.
			4.	AAMA 501.1-94, Standard Test Method for Exterior Windows, Curtain Walls, and Doors for Water penetration Using Dynamic Pressure.
			5.	SBC, Standard Building Code (formerly Southern Building Code), Chapter 16, Structural Loads, Section 1606, Wind Loads.
		D.	Structural Requirements
			1.	Uniform load deflection test: With the sash in a closed and locked position the windows shall be tested in accordance with ASTM E 330 at a static pressure of 40 psf. The load shall be applied both positively (exterior) and negatively (interior) to the surface of the unit. No member shall deflect more than 1/175 of its span.
			2.	Uniform Loaded Structural Test: With the sash in a closed and locked position the windows shall be tested in accordance with ASTM E 330 at a static pressure of 60 psf. The load shall be applied both positively (exterior) and negatively (interior) to the surface of the unit. After each loading there shall be no glass breakage, permanent damage to fasteners, hardware parts, support arms or actuating mechanisms, or any other damage which causes the window to be inoperable. There shall be no permanent deformation of any main frame, sash, panel or sash member in excess of 0.2 percent of its span.
		E.	Thermal Requirements
			1.	Condensation Resistance Factor (CRF): When tested in accordance with AAMA Specification 1503 on a test size of 6 feet by 4 feet, the CRF shall not be less than 50.
			2.	Thermal Transmittance (U-Value): When tested in accordance with AAMA 1503 shall not exceed 0.36.
		F.	Water Leakage: None, when measured in accordance with ASTM E 547.
		G.	Forced Entry Resistance (FER): When tested in accordance with AAMA 1302.5, there shall be no entry.
	1.5	SUBMITTALS
		A.	Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
		B.	Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
			1.	Preparation instructions and recommendations.
			2.	Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
			3.	Installation methods.
		C.	Shop Drawings: Indicate opening dimensions, framed opening tolerances, affected related Work; and installation requirements.
		D.	Verification Samples: For each product specified, two frame section samples, minimum size 12 inches (300 mm) square, representing actual product, color, and workmanship. Submit two samples of operating hardware.
		E.	Manufacturer's Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.
	1.6	QUALITY ASSURANCE
		A.	Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing PVC windows with minimum three years documented experience.
		B.	Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in installation of PVC windows with minimum three years documented experience.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
		C.	Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.
			1.	Finish areas designated by Architect.
			2.	Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, color, and sheen are approved by Architect.
			3.	Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.
	1.7	DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
		A.	Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
		B.	Store windows in an upright position, off ground.
		C.	Protect products from moisture, construction traffic and damage in according with manufacturer's printed instructions.
		D.	Do not use non-vented plastic or canvas shelters; open plastic wrapper immediately upon delivery to provide proper ventilation.
	1.8	PROJECT CONDITIONS
		A.	Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
	1.9	WARRANTY
		A.	Limited life-time warranty on all vinyl parts for the original residential owner.
		B.	Limited life-time glass warranty for the original residential owner.
	PART 2	PRODUCTS
	2.1	MANUFACTURERS

	2.2	COMPONENTS GENERAL
		A.	Vinyl Extrusions: Multi-chamber extrusions of impact-resistant exterior-grade rigid polyvinylchloride (PVC )complying with AAMA 303.
		B.	Low E Sealed double strength, dual pane units with Argon Gas Fill. Shall conform to ASTM E 744 level C or higher with a maximum NFRC U-value of U-0.37.
		C.	All windows shall be lockable and tested according to ASTM F 588 (Performance Level.
		D.	Screens: Installable from interior side, providing only ventilation and reasonable insect control when operable sash is in open position. Re-screenable using fiberglass mesh, 14x18 gage, secured in channel of aluminum box frame with continuous vinyl spline; frame color matching window frame and sash color.
		E.	Operating Hardware: Appropriate types for specified operable-sash windows; sight-exposed hardware of UV-stabilized, engineered plastic; color matched to vinyl extrusions for uniform appearance.
		F.	Fasteners: Corrosion-resistant screws conforming to ASME B16.64.
		G.	Weatherstripping: Appropriate types for specified operable sash windows.

	PART 3	EXECUTION
	3.1	EXAMINATION
		A.	Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
		B.	Verify that rough openings are as indicated and are correct sizes for clearance spaces specified in manufacturer's instructions.
		C.	Verify adjoining air and vapor seal materials are ready to receive Work specified.
		D.	If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
	3.2	PREPARATION
		A.	Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
		B.	Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
	3.3	INSTALLATION
		A.	Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
		B.	Sill shall be adequately supported and leveled along its entire length.
		C.	Adequate header clearance shall be provided to avoid downward bowing caused by construction settlement.
		D.	Install products level, plumb and square; fasten to achieve maximum operational effectiveness and best appearance of units.
		E.	Attach window frame and shims to perimeter opening to accommodate construction tolerances and other irregularities.
