          1.4SUBMITTALS
 
          A.Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Specify submittal requirements for fire rated doors and fire rated frames, including glass stops in the appropriate Sections.
 
          B.Product Data: Submit manufacturer's technical data for each glazing material required, including installation and maintenance instructions.
 
          C.Product Test Listings: From a qualified testing agency indicating fire rated glass complies with requirements, based on comprehensive testing of current product.
 
          D.Manufacturers' Certificates:
          1.Certificates of compliance for glazing materials from glass and glazing materials manufacturers attesting that glass and glazing materials furnished for Project comply with requirements.
          2.Separate certification will not be required for glazing materials bearing manufacturer's permanent label designating type and thickness of glass, provided labels represent a quality control program involving a recognized certification agency or independent testing laboratory acceptable to authority having jurisdiction.
 
          E.Samples: Submit, for verification and approval purposes, one 8 by 10 inch (20 by 250 mm) sample for each type of glass indicated.
 
          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Glazing Standards: GANA Glazing Manual and Sealant Manual.
 
          B.Fire Rated Glass: Each lite shall bear a permanent, non-removable label of Underwriters Laboratories and/or Intertek Testing Services (Warnock-Hersey) certifying it for use in tested and rated fire protective assemblies.
 
          1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Deliver, store and handle materials in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
 
          B.Maintain environmental conditions and protect work during and after installation to comply with referenced standards and manufacturer's printed recommendations.
 
          C.Maintain minimum and maximum temperature limits as recommended by manufacturers.
 
          D.Protect adjacent surfaces during progress of the Work in this Section.
 
          1.7WARRANTY

          2.2FIRE RATED / TEMPERATURE RISE GLASS AND FRAMING SYSTEM
 
          A.System Includes Fire Rated Glass and Framing System:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete glass products which are not required; if more than one product is required, indicate clearly where each will be used on the Drawings.
          1.Glass Product: SGG SWISSFLAM; clear, fire and safety rated glazing.
          2.Glass Product: SGG CONTRAFLAM; clear, fire and safety rated glazing.
          3.Frame Product: VDS (Stalprofil) Fire Rated Steel Door & Framing System. Frame profiles from Stalprofil AB Supplied and distributed by VETROTECH Saint-Gobain NA.
 
          B.Performance Requirements:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete ratings which are not required; if more than one rating is required, indicate clearly where each will be used on the Drawings.
          1.Fire Rating: 60-minutes.
          2.Fire Rating: 90-minutes (120 minutes frame).
          3.Fire Rating: 120-minutes.
          4.Certification: System tested in accordance with ASTM E-119, NFPA 251, UBC 7-1, UL 263. Temperature on the non-fire side of the system at the conclusion of fire test shall be below 250 degree F (121 degree C) above ambient room temperature.
          5.Listing / Label: Fire Testing shall be conducted by an approved independent test laboratory similar to Intertek Testing Services (Warnock-Hersey) or Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. (UL).
 
          C.Steel Framing System:
          1.Steel and stainless steel profiles mechanically joined with steel pins.
          2.Insulation: Insulate framing system against effects of fire and heat from both sides. Insulate steel tubes incorporating calcium silicate material. Perimeter of framing system to the rough opening shall be firmly packed with mineral wool fire stop insulation or intumescent sealant.
          3.Glazing beads: Proprietary steel beads as recommended by manufacturer to comply with listing.
          4.Fasteners: As recommended by manufacturer.
          5.Glazing accessories: Glazing pocket shall be lined with intumescent tape as supplied by manufacturer. Fire rated glass shall be set on calcium silicate / hardwood / neoprene / setting block.
          6.Glazing Compounds: Fire rated glass shall be glazed with approved chloroprene vinyl as supplied by manufacturer, closed cell PVC foam tape or pure silicone sealant.
 
          2.3ALL GLASS FIRE-RATED DOORS
 
          A.All-Glass Fire Rated Door, 20-Minute Rating: Complete door system, including SGGPYROSWISS EXTRA, clear, wireless safety glass, door frame and hardware (pivoting hardware and center locking device with lever).
 
          B.Glass Properties:
          1.Glass Thickness: 3/8 inch (10 mm) - SGGPYROSWISS EXTRA.
          2.Fire-Rating: 20-minutes (w/out hose stream test).
          3.Glass Weight: 5.5 lbs / sq. ft. (27.5 kgs/sq. meter) (approx).
          4.Impact Safety Rating: ANSI Z97.1 & CPSC 16CFR1201 (CAT I & II).
 
          C.Frame Properties:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete size not required.
          1.Size: 20-Minute ALL-GLASS Fire Doors 3 feet 0 by 7 feet 0 (914 mm by 2134 mm).
          2.Size: 20-Minute ALL-GLASS Fire Doors 3 feet 0 by 8 feet 0 (914 mm by 2438 mm).
          3.Labeling: Each lite of SGG PYROSWISS EXTRA shall be labeled with a permanent logo including the name of product, manufacturer, testing laboratory (ITS / Warnock Hersey), fire rating period and safety glazing standards.
          4.Doors: Doors shall be supplied with top and bottom rails that have machined radius ends. Clad rails shall have welded ground and polished end caps. Applied plated end caps will not be acceptable. Fire doors shall be factory glazed and prepared for hardware.
          5.Hardware: Fire doors supplied with all hardware necessary. Closer shall be either surface mounted or concealed overhead closer as indicated in the Door Opening Schedule . Lock shall be a Schlage D102 center lock complete with RIIO levers and trim.
          6.Frames: Frames shall be supplied with all door stops, smoke gaskets, and intumescent material installed. Header will have access to the closer.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete finish not required.
          7.Finish: Aluminum – Powder coat paint in black or dark bronze.
          8.Finish: Stainless Steel – #4 satin polish.
          9.Finish: Stainless Steel – #8 high polish.
          10.Finish: Bronze – #4 satin polish.
          11.Finish: Bronze – #8 high polish.
 
          D.Installation: Fire door shall be installed by factory authorized glazing contractors. Doors shall be adjusted by the glazing contractor prior to owner’s acceptance.
 
          E.Guarantee: Fire doors shall be guaranteed against defective material and workmanship for a period of one year after completion of installation.
 
          2.4FIRE AND SAFETY RATED GLAZING MATERIALS
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** SGG Contraflam Structure 60, Fire and Safety-Rated Laminated Glass: Individual lite sizes cannot exceed maximum exposed area of 5382 sq. in.           A.SGG Contraflam Structure 60, Fire and Safety-Rated Laminated Glass: Fire rated, wireless, laminated glazing material with intumescent interlayers for use in impact safety rated locations such as doors, transoms, borrowed lites and butt-jointed glass wall applications. Provides smoke and flame barrier. Provides protection from radiant and conductive heat transfer with limited temperature rise on the unexposed face For use in interior applications, only. Provide units with the following properties:
          1.Thickness: 1-3/16 inch (31 mm).
          2.Weight: 13.0 lbs / sq. ft. (65 kg per sq. meter).
          3.STC Rating: 41.
          4.Approximate Visible Light Transmission: 80 percent.
          5.Impact Safety Rating: ANSI Z97.1 & CPSC 16CFR1202 (CAT I & II).
          6.Labeling: Each lite shall be labeled with a permanent logo including the name of product, manufacturer, testing laboratory (Intertek Testing Services (Warnock-Hersey) or Underwriters Laboratories), fire rating period and safety glazing standards.
          7.Fire Rating: 60-minutes (with hose stream test).

          B.SGG Pyroswiss US, Fire Rated Tempered Glass: Fire rated, wireless, optically clear tempered glazing material for use in impact safety rated 20-min.doorlite applications. Provides smoke and flame barrier. Does not provide a barrier to radiant or conductive heat. For use in interior or exterior applications. Provide units with the following properties:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** This product is not a barrier to radiant or conductive heat transfer. It does not meet test standards ASTM E 119, UL 263, or UBC 7-1. Should your jurisdiction require a barrier to heat product, please contact Vetrotech.
          1.Thickness: 1/4 inch (6mm).
          2.Weight: 3.2 lbs/sf (16 kg per sq. meter).
          3.Approximate Visible Light Transmission: 90 percent.
          4.Impact Safety Performance: ANSI Z97.1 and CPSC 16CFR1201 (CAT I & II).

          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** This product is not rated for use in impact safety rated locations such as doors. Please contact Vetrotech - Fire-Rated Glass & Systems for impact safety-rated products. This product is not a barrier to radiant or conductive heat transfer. It does not meet test standards ÅSTM E 119, UL 263, or UBC 7-1. Should your jurisdiction require a barrier to heat product, please contact Vetrotech.
          1.Thickness: 3/16 inch (5 mm).
          2.Weight: 2.7 lbs/sf (13 kg per sq. meter).
          3.Approximate Visible Light Transmission: 85 percent.

          2.6FABRICATION
 
          A.Fabricate glass and other glazing products in sizes required to glaze openings indicated for project, with edge and face clearances, edge and surface conditions, and bite complying with recommendations of product manufacturer and referenced glazing standards as required to comply with system performance requirements.
 
          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Examine glass and framing, with glazier present, for compliance with the following:
          1.Openings to receive glazing are plumb and square.
          2.Manufacturing and installation tolerances, including those for size, squareness, offsets at corners.
          3.Minimum required face or edge clearances.
          4.Observable edge damage or face imperfections.
 
          B.Clean glass, glazing channels and other framing members receiving glass immediately before glazing.
 
          C.Remove coatings that are not firmly bonded to substrates.
 
          D.Do not proceed with installation until unsatisfactory conditions have been corrected. Commencement of work signifies acceptance of substrate and installation conditions.
 
          3.2INSTALLATION , GENERAL
 
          A.Comply with referenced GANA glazing manual and instructions of manufacturers of glass, glazing sealants, and glazing compounds.
          1.Protect glass from edge damage during installation and handling.
          2.Inspect glass during installation and replace pieces with edge damage that could affect performance.
          3.Set units of glass in each series with uniformity of pattern, draw, bow, and similar characteristics.
          4.Cut glazing tape to length and set against permanent stops, flush with sight lines to fit openings exactly, with stretch allowance during installation.
          5.Place setting blocks located at quarter points of glass with edge block no more than 8 inches from corner. Check perimeter clearance and adjust setting blocks as needed.
          6.Do not restrict movement due to thermal expansion.
          7.Direct glass-to-perimeter frame contact is prohibited.
          8.Glaze vertically into labeled doors or frames or partition walls with same fire rating as glass and push against tape for full contact at perimeter of pane or unit.
          9.Place glazing tape on free perimeter of glazing with same fire rating as glass and push against tape for full contact at perimeter of pane or unit.
          10.Do not remove protective edge tape.
          11.Install removable stop and secure without displacing tape or glazing compound.
          12.Knife trim protruding tape.
          13.Apply cap bead of silicone sealant along void between glass stop and glazing, to uniform line, with bevel to form watershed away from glass. Tool or wipe surface smooth.
          14.Do not pressure glaze.
 
          B.Install in vision panels in doors to requirements of NFPA 80. Install so that required markings remain visible.
 
          3.3BUTT GLAZING INSTALLATION FOR SGG SWISSFLAM 60 STRUCTURE
 
          A.Comply with referenced GANA glazing manual and instructions of manufacturers of glass, glazing sealants, and glazing compounds. Install so that required markings remain visible.
          1.Protect glass from edge damage during installation and handling. Inspect glass during installation and set aside pieces with edge damage that could affect performance.
          2.Set units of glass in each series with uniformity of pattern, draw, bow, and similar characteristics.
          3.Silicone Vertical Joints: Clean glass edges to be sealed with spirits. Attach Kerafix intumescent tape (supplied by Vetrotech Saint-Gobain) on vertical glass edges. Adjust lites to exact parallel position. Inject silicone (supplied by Vetrotech Saint-Gobain) into joint and remove excess as needed.
 
          3.4CLEANING AND PROTECTION
 
          A.Protect glass from contact with contaminating substances resulting from construction operations. Remove such substances by method approved by manufacturer.
 
          B.Wash glass on both faces not more than four days prior to date scheduled for inspections intended to establish date of substantial completion. Wash glass by method recommended by glass manufacturer.
