This specification includes phenolic, homogeneous phenolic and plastic laminate restroom partitions and urinal screens. Partitions are available in several styles including ceiling hung, floor to ceiling, floor mount and overhead braced. Urinal screens include floor to ceiling post and wall hung. Ironwood partitions are available in a wide range of colors and hardware finishes.

          2.2SOLID PHENOLIC CORE
 
          A.Ironwood Olympic Model: Phenolic panels conform to NEMA LD3-1985 type SP125 and are composed of melamine-impregnated decorative surface papers superimposed over a varying number of kraft phenolic core sheets, bonded under heat and high pressure to achieve a desired thickness. Decorative surface papers are used as finish on both sides of panel. Note that plastic laminate faced panels will not be acceptable. All edges shall be sanded and polished black or brown.

          A.Ironwood Cascade Model: Laminate edges shall be applied before face laminate and bonded with thermo-setting resin glue under continuous heat and pressure. All face laminate shall be bonded with PVA adhesive under continuous pressure.
          1.Particleboard for Core: Industrial Grade, 45-pound density particleboard conforming to ANSI A208.1, with waterproof resin binder; sanded faces.

          2.5ACCESSORIES
 
          A.Toilet Tissue Dispensers:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select dispenser required from the following paragraphs and delete those not required.
          1.Dual Roll Cabinet: Ironwood Model 5402, surface mounted with service door fabricated of type 304 (18-8), 22 gauge stainless steel with exposed surfaces in architectural satin finish. Welded construction with burr-free edges. Overall dimensions: 5-9/16 inches (141 mm) wide by 10-3/8 inches (264 mm) high by 5-5/16 inches (135 mm) deep.
          2.Dual Roll Dispenser: Ironwood Model 5241, surface mounted toilet tissue dispenser shall be die cast aluminum with satin finish and hold two standard core toilet tissue rolls. Stops control paper delivery. Overall dimensions: 13 inches (330 mm) wide by 1-3/4 inches (44 mm) wide by 4-1/4 inches (108 mm) deep.
          3.Furnish toilet tissue dispensers as specified in section 10800.
 
          2.6FABRICATION
 
          A.General: Furnish standard doors, panels, screens, and stiles fabricated for a complete system. Furnish units with cutouts required to receive partition mounted toilet accessories specified.
 
          B.Door Dimensions: Unless otherwise indicated, furnish 24 inch (610 mm) wide in-swing doors for standard compartments and minimum 34 inch (864 mm) wide with 32 inch (813 mm clear opening, out-swing doors for compartments to meet the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
 
          C.Construction Types of Restroom Compartments:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select construction for types of Restroom Compartments required from the following paragraphs and delete those not required.
          1.Ceiling Hung. Furnish galvanized steel anchorage devices complete with threaded rods, lock washers, and leveling adjustment nuts at stile connection for structural support above finished ceiling. Provide shoe at each stile top to conceal anchorages.
          2.Floor to Ceiling. Furnish galvanized steel supports and leveling bolts at ceiling and floor connections. Provide two shoes at each stile to conceal anchorages.
          3.Floor Mounted. Furnish galvanized steel anchorage devices complete with threaded rod, lock washers, and leveling adjustment nuts at stiles to permit structural connection at floor. Provide shoe at each stile to conceal anchorages.
          4.Floor Supported, Overhead Braced: Furnish galvanized steel supports and leveling bolts at stiles to match floor conditions as recommended by Ironwood. Make provisions for setting and securing overhead bracing at the top of each stile. Provide shoe at each stile to conceal support and leveling mechanism.
 
          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
 
          B.Verify field measurements are as indicated on shop drawings.
 
          C.Verify correct location of built-in framing, anchorage, and bracing.
 
          D.If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          B.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
 
          B.Install compartment units rigid, straight, plumb, and level. Provide clearance of not more than 1/2 inch (12.5 mm) between stiles and panels and not more than 1 inch (25.5 mm) between panels and walls. Secure units to walls with brackets. Secure panel and stiles located to align with wall brackets. Secure panels in position with manufacturer's recommended anchoring devices.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select construction for types of Restroom Compartments required from the following paragraphs and delete those not required.
 
          C.Ceiling Hung Compartments: Secure stiles to supporting structure level and plumb. Tighten installation with devices furnished. Hang doors and adjust so door bottoms are level with bottom of stiles when doors are in closed position. Set doors and panels 12 inches (305 mm) above finished floor.
 
          D.Floor to Ceiling Compartments: Secure stiles to floor and ceiling level and plumb. Tighten installation with devices furnished. Set doors and panels 12 inches (305 mm) above finished floor.
 
          E.Floor Mounted Compartments: Set stiles level and plumb with anchorages having not less than 2 inch (51 mm) penetration into structural floor. Tighten installation with devices furnished. Hang doors and adjust so that tops of doors are level with tops of stiles when doors are in closed position. Set doors and panels 12 inches (305 mm) above finished floor.
 
          F.Overhead Braced Compartments: Secure stile to floor, level, and plumb. Tighten installation with devices furnished. Secure overhead brace to each stile with fasteners supplied. Hang doors and adjust so that tops of doors are parallel with overhead brace when doors are in closed position. Set doors and panels 12 inches (305 mm) above finished floor.
 
          3.4ADJUST AND CLEAN
 
          A.Hardware Adjustment: Adjust and lubricate hardware for proper operation.
 
          B.Clean and Protect: Clean exposed surfaces of compartment systems using materials and methods recommended by manufacturer.
 
          3.5PROTECTION
 
          A.Protect installed products until completion of project.
 
          B.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
 
          3.6SCHEDULES
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Retain Paragraph below if required to suit project requirements.
