	2.3	DOCK SHELTERS
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Truck shelters are the most versatile solution because they will accommodate the widest range of vehicles. They allow unobstructed access to the height and width of both the trailer and door openings. As the name implies, these units create a shelter from inclement weather. Best suited for typical door sizes up to 10.5 feet by 10.5 feet (3.2 m by 3.2 m) with 12 inches (305 mm) minimum of shelter past the face of the dock bumpers. Delete if not required.

All exterior front frame edges shall have a minimum 1.5 inches x 2.5 inches (40 mm x 65 mm) galvanized trim angle to provide a neat clean finish. Frames shall be protected by structural steel guards. Minimum 5 inches (127 mm) and 7 inches (178 mm) front face. Cover material shall be a polyester base with a 40 oz (1.13 kg) Hi-Tear Vinyl finished weight. Material shall have an unbalanced distribution coating of 90/10 to allow for superior abrasion on contact surface. Head curtain shall have a 36 inches (915 mm) drop and have full fiberglass stays and 10 inches x 20 inches (254 mm x 508 mm) protective flaps at trailer impact area. Head curtain shall have heavy duty rubber tarp straps to keep panel in position. Head frame shall be made with pressure treated non-rot wood covered with polyethylene sheeting with UV inhibitors to prevent cracking and fading in sunlight. Raked frame diverts water, preventing accumulation. Storage curtain shall consist of one top curtain and two side curtains. Storage curtains to be made with 22oz Hi-Tear Vinyl. Top curtain must have 2 yellow aiming stripes with a minimum of 7 support stiffeners and cover full width and sides of head frame with a 25”(635mm) drop. Frames shall be protected by two 10 inches (254 mm) structural "I" beams. Framing shall be covered with polyester base 22 oz Vinyl finished weight. Covers shall have #1 brass grommets every 12 inches (305 mm) fastened to frames with #14 x 1 inches (25 mm) Tek screws zinc plated. 				b.	StrongArm SVR303A Vehicle Restraint: The unit has 2.5 inches (64 mm) bore cylinders for arm and lock system. The switchless Intelligent Positioning System, which is rated NEMA6/IP67 (submersible), communicates the position of the restraint arm to the control station via a network, enabling the interior and exterior lights to display the appropriate safety signals. Should a power failure occur, the restraint arm may be lowered manually using a tool (not supplied) designated for that purpose.
				c.	Control Station: Remote touch button control station; The Blue Genius Gold Series III is a multiple touch button control station with "DECK", "LIP", "ENGAGE" and "RELEASE" touch buttons. It has a NEMA4X/IP65 (wet and corrosion resistant) rated polycarbonate enclosure. Overall dimensions 111/4"L x 71/2"W x 51/2"D (286 x 191 x 140 mm). For added safety, the control station has a 'STOP' touch button that will cause the deck, lip, and restraint to stop in mid-travel when touched. 				d.	Communication System: Interior red, green, and yellow LED lights integrated into the control station. Exterior LED red and green high visibility traffic style lights and direct and mirror image driver's warning signs. The lighting system alerts both dock attendant and vehicle driver to current safety conditions. If vehicle has no restraining rear impact guard, the interior communication lights will flash yellow, warning the dock attendant that the vehicle is not secured and requires wheel chocks.
			4.	Dock Leveler Function:
				a.	Vertical Travel: Working range of 12 inches (305 mm) above and 12 inches (305 mm) below dock level.

	PART 3	EXECUTION
	3.1	EXAMINATION
		A.	Do not proceed with installation until substrates have been properly prepared and deviations from manufacturer's recommended tolerances are corrected. Commencement of installation constitutes acceptance of conditions.
		B.	Prepare substrates using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
		C.	If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of deviations from manufacturer's recommended installation tolerances and conditions.
		D.	Verification of Conditions: Verify that field measurements, surfaces, substrates and conditions are as required, and ready to receive Work.
	3.2	INSTALLATION
		A.	Install dock leveler and/or dock lift unit in prepared opening in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
		B.	Set square and level.
		C.	Anchor unit securely, flush with dock. Weld back of dock leveler to pit frame. Touch-up welds with matching paint.
		D.	Install dock bumpers in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
	3.3	ADJUSTING
