DOCK SHELTERS

Truck shelters are the most versatile solution because they will accommodate the widest range of vehicles. They allow unobstructed access to the height and width of both the trailer and door openings. As the name implies, these units create a shelter from inclement weather. Best suited for typical door sizes up to 12 feet by 12 feet (3.7 m by 3.7 m) with 12 inches (305 mm) minimum of shelter past the face of the dock bumpers. RTS 1000 has translucent panels on both sides and top. Delete if not required.

Dock shelters shall be RTS1000 Series as manufactured by Blue Giant.

Type: Rigid Frame Truck Shelter.

The unit sides and top shall be covered with rigid translucent plastic. A tight seal shall be maintained against the sides and top of the trailer body through spring-like fiberglass stays built into the side and top curtains as well as a foam bead at the leading edges.

Dock shelters shall be RTS2000 Series as manufactured by Blue Giant.

Type: Rigid Frame Truck Shelter.

The unit sides shall be covered with white vinyl fabric and top shall be covered with rigid translucent plastic. A tight seal shall be maintained against the sides and top of the trailer body through spring-like fiberglass stays built into the side and top curtains as well as a foam bead at the leading edges.

Provides air tight seal around a wide range of different width and height trailers. Contact manufacturer for specifics.

DOCK BUMPERS

Dock bumpers, two per dock leveler as manufactured by Blue Giant.

Type: Molded and shall be made of nylon cord reinforced rubber compound. Mounting holes are shall be recessed to prevent damage.

Type: Laminated and shall be made of nylon impregnated heavy-duty industrial rubber and punched to receive 5/8 inch (16mm) supporting rod. Bumper material shall be assembled with two 3 inches by 3 inches by 1/4 inch (76 by 76 by 6mm) thick steel angles, factory painted and fastened with threaded rod and nut. Dimensions include angle iron for laminated bumpers.

VEHICLE (TRUCK) RESTRAINTS

Vehicle restraint shall be Model TL-85 - Hydraulic as manufactured by BLUE GIANT.

Type: Electro-hydraulic operated non-impact design. Comes complete with interior/exterior communications light package and driver warning signs.

Vertical Restraining Range: From 12 inches to 29 inches (305 mm to 737 mm) above grade.

Horizontal Restraining Range: From 0 inch to 12 inches (0 mm to 305 mm) beyond the face of the dock.

Mounting System: Dock face mounting using 6 wedge anchor bolts 5/8 inch diameter by 6 inches long (16 by 152 mm). Transfer of pulling force to driveway improves restraining strength by equalizing forces on anchors. Trailer rear impact guard (ICC bar) during backing in does not impact restraint's body.

Operation:

Operating System: 1/2 HP motor in remote location on 24 foot (7,315mm) hydraulic hose. 24V control, NEMA4X/IP65 (Wet and corrosion resistant) rated control station with touch buttons for engage or disengage or reset of restraint. Onboard diagnostics and communications feature a user-friendly, multi-language LCD intelligent display and keypad with supervisory override features. Stop button provides complete motion freeze of restraint and interlocked components.

Control Station: Blue Genius II; a multiple touch button control station with constant pressure �ENGAGE�, and �RELEASE� buttons. NEMA4X/IP65 (wet and corrosion resistant) rated polycarbonate enclosure. Overall dimensions 111/4 inch L x 7-1/2 inch W x 5-1/2 inch (287 x 190 x 140 mm) with programmable multi instructional languages.

Control Station: Blue Genius Gold Series III Control Panel to interlock dock leveler and restraint functions.

Lights Communication System: Interior red, yellow, and green indicator lights mounted on the control station. Exterior LED red and green high visibility traffic style lights and direct mirror image driver's warning signs. The lighting system alerts both dock attendant and truck driver to the status of the restraint. If vehicle has no restraining ICC bar, the control station light will flash yellow and the LCD message screen will advise dock attendant that the vehicle is not secured and wheel chocks are required.

Rated Capacity:

Welding procedure compliant with A.W.S.D1.1 specifications. UL approved electrical components. Unit provides restraining strength 35,000 lb (15,909 kg) and mounting force of 100,000 lb (45,454 kg).

Construction and Finish:

Vehicle restraint: Welded structural steel housing. Restraint arm is constructed of 1-1/2 inch (38 mm) thick solid steel. The housing protects all components from damage from weather, dirt and debris. NEMA4 weather rated wand sensors, remote power pack location and cylinder vented to power pack reservoir protects from water damage. To resist corrosion and reduce maintenance, the unit is zinc plated, main hinge pin is made of stainless steel and cylinder rod has nitride coating.

Exterior LED Traffic Lights: Housing shall be one-piece, weatherproof constructed and made of ultra high molecular weight plastic. The lights shall be 4 inches (101 mm) diameter of red and green color. Overall body 5 inch W x 11-1/2 inch L x 1/2 inch D (127 x 292 x 13 mm) in size.

The LED Lights Communication System (Red, Yellow, and Green) is mounted on the controller and supplemented by driver warning signs. Safety devices include door interlock terminals (24VDC provided) and a �STOP� touch button that will freeze the unit in mid-motion when pressed. The �Esc� touch button releases the unit from the stopped condition.

EXECUTION

3.1

EXAMINATION

Section 01700 - Execution Requirements: Verification of existing conditions before starting work.

Verification of Conditions: Verify that field measurements, surfaces, substrates and conditions are as required, and ready to receive Work.

3.2

INSTALLATION

Install dock leveler and/or dock lift unit in prepared opening in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

Set square and level.

Anchor unit securely, flush with dock. Weld back of dock leveler to pit frame. Touch-up welds with matching paint.

Install dock bumpers in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.

ADJUSTING

Adjust installed unit for smooth and balanced operation.
