          1.4DESIGN / PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
 
          A.Design and fabricate pre-engineered dome structure and accessories in accordance with the applicable building code and the AISC Standard Code of Practice.
 
          B.Wind Loads: Design and size components to withstand positive and negative wind loads acting normal to plane of wall, including increased loads at building corners as applicable.
 
          C.Components: Accommodate the following without damage to system or components.
          1.Movement within system.
          2.Movement between system and perimeter framing components.
          3.Dynamic loading and release of loads.
          4.Deflection of structural support framing.
          5.Expansion and contraction from temperature range of 170 degrees F (95 degrees C) over a 12 hour period.
 
          1.5SUBMITTALS
 
          A.Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
 
          B.Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
          1.Preparation instructions and recommendations.
          2.Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
          3.Installation methods.
 
          C.Shop Drawings:
          1.Shop drawings showing layout of dome components and accessories.
          2.Indicate sizes, layout, connections and attachment for framing supporting dome structure.
          3.Shop drawing shall include calculations signed and sealed by Professional Engineer licensed in the project state.
 
          D.Verification Samples: For each finish product specified, two samples, minimum size 6 inches (150 mm) square, representing actual product, color, and finish.
 
          E.Manufacturer's Certificates: Certify products meet or exceed specified requirements.
 
          1.6QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Company specializing in manufacturing Products specified in this section with minimum three years documented experience.
 
          B.Design: Design under direct supervision of Professional Engineer experienced in design of this Work and licensed at Project location.
 
          C.Installer Qualifications: Experienced installer who has completed metal dome projects or similar projects in scope, material, design and extent to that indicated for this project and with a record of successful in - service performance.
 
          1.7DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Store products off the ground and under cover in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
 
          B.Handle dome components and accessories so they will not be damaged or deformed.
 
          1.8SEQUENCING
 
          A.Ensure that locating templates and other information required for installation of products of this section are furnished to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
 
          B.Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
 
          1.9PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Established Dimensions: Coordinate roof dome assembly with roof dome assembly instructions and actual location of structural members. Ensure opening dimensions correspond to establish dimensions of dome assembly.
 
          1.10WARRANTY
 
          A.Manufacturer's 2 year limited warrantee covering defects in workmanship.

          2.1MANUFACTURERS

          2.2ROOF DOME
 
          A.Pre-Engineered Roof Dome: Provide pre-engineered roof dome kit as manufactured by McCarty Domes, Inc,, complete including:
          1.Steel splice kits.
          2.Steel tension ring sections.

          3.Steel dome ribs.
          4.Wood dome ribs.
          5.Steel compression ring.
          6.Steel backup plates and fasteners.
 
          B.Size/Configuration:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select one of the following paragraphs and delete the paragraph not required. Domes are custom fabricated and are available in sizes from 6 foot to 250 foot diameter. Contact the manufacturer for additional information.

          1.Plywood Sheathing Kit:
          a.1/2 inch (12.5 mm) thick.
          b.Exterior Structural I Grade.
          2.Metal Standing Seam:
          a.Copper Sheet: ASTM B 370, cold rolled 16 oz/sq ft; natural finish.
          b.Lead Coated Copper Sheet: ASTM B 101 soft temper, 16 oz/sq ft.
          c.Terne Coated Steel Sheet: 0.015 inch (0.4 mm) thick copper bearing carbon steel core material with 0.092 lb/sq ft (0.45 kg/sq m) terne alloy coating on both sides of core metal.
          d.Pre-Finished Aluminum Sheet: ASTM B 209, manufacturer's standard alloy and temper for specified finish; 0.032 inch (0.8 mm) thick; plain or stucco embossed finish shop pre-coated with PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) coating; color as selected from manufacturer's standard colors.
          e.Pre-Finished Galvanized Steel Sheet: ASTM A 924/A 924M, Grade A, or ASTM A 653/A 653M, G90 zinc coating; 24 gage core steel, shop pre-coated with PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) coating; color as selected from manufacturer's standard colors.
 
          2.3MATERIALS
 
          A.Steel Plates, Shapes and Bar ASTM A 36.
 
          B.Steel Tube: ASTM A 500.
 
          C.Welding Materials: AWS D1.1; type required for materials being welded.
 
          D.Primer: Apply zinc-oxide shop coat after fabrication.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Wood ribs are optional. If required, select one of the following species paragraphs; delete the paragraphs not required.
 
          E.Wood Ribs: Laminated exterior grade plywood.
          1.Finish Species: Fir.
          2.Finish Species: Pine.
          3.Finish Species: Birch.
          4.Finish Species: Oak.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Domes can be fully erected in the shop and shipped in maximum size elements for transportation purposes and field erected. Larger domes are totally field erected due to size limitations required for shipping.
 
          2.4FABRICATION
 
          A.Code: AISC Standard Code of Practice.
 
          B.Fabricate items with joints tightly fitted and secured.
 
          C.Grind exposed joints flush and smooth with adjacent finish surface. Make exposed joints butt tight, flush, and hairline. Ease exposed edges to small uniform radius.
 
          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
 
          B.Verify that support structure and field conditions are acceptable and are ready to receive Work.
 
          C.If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          B.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
 
          B.Install items plumb and level, accurately fitted, free from distortion or defects.
 
          C.Provide for erection loads, and for sufficient temporary bracing to maintain true alignment until completion of erection and installation of permanent attachments.
 
          D.Perform field welding in accordance with AWS D1.1
 
          E.Obtain approval prior to site cutting or making adjustments not previously scheduled.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Dome covering is optional. If required, select one of the following wood sheathing or standing seam roofing paragraphs; delete the paragraph not required.
 
          F.Wood sheathing is secure with longer edge (strength axis) perpendicular to framing members and with sheet ends over bearing.
 
          G.Standing Seam Roofing: Installation shall Conform to SMACNA and CDA details and installation requirements.
 
          3.4PROTECTION
 
          A.Protect installed products until completion of project.
 
          B.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
