          2.4PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the next paragraph if Continuous Angle Frame Bleachers are not specified.
 
          A.Design Loads:
          1.Design to withstand, with or without live loads, the horizontal and uplift pressures due to the wind based on the most current revision of ASCE 7.
          2.Live Load - Uniform: Not less than 100 psf of gross horizontal projection of the grandstand.
          3.Live Load - Seat and foot boards: Not less than 120 lb. per lineal foot.
          4.Horizontal swaying force - parallel to the length of the seats: 24 lbs./ft.
          5.Horizontal swaying force - perpendicular to the length of the seats: 10 lbs./ft.
          6.Guard rails: Vertical load of 100 plf. and a horizontal thrust of 50 plf. acting outwardly at the top of the rail.
          7.Stresses not to exceed those allowed in the "Specifications for Structural Steel Buildings; June 1, 1989" as adopted by the American Institute of Steel Construction.
 
          2.5SUBMITTALS
 
          A.Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
 
          B.Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
          1.Preparation instructions and recommendations.
          2.Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
          3.Installation methods.
 
          C.Shop Drawings:
          1.Submit Manufacturer's standard details for each applicable condition found on the project.
          2.Special condition details must be reviewed and approved by the Architect in writing prior to installation. Preparation of alternate or non-standard details is the responsibility of the Contractor.

          D.Selection Samples: Two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available finishes.

          2.6QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: All primary products specified in this section will be supplied by a single manufacturer with a minimum of ten (10) years experience.
 
          B.Installer Qualifications: All products listed in this section are to be installed by a single installer with a minimum of five (5) years demonstrated experience in installing products of the same type and scope as specified.
 
          C.Regulatory Requirements: Comply with all federal, state and local building codes and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
 
          2.7DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
 
          B.Store and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
 
          2.8PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
 
          2.9WARRANTY
 
          A.At project closeout, provide to the owner or owners representative an executed copy of the manufacturers warranty, outlining it's terms, conditions and exclusions.
          1.Duration: One year against defects in materials and workmanship starting after completion of the project.

          3.3ANGLE FRAME BLEACHER FABRICATION
 
          A.Shop Connections: Welded and capable of carrying calculated stresses per AWS standards.
 
          B.Supporting Members (Framework): 1 3/4 inch by 1 3/4 inch (44mm x 44mm) welded steel angle frame spaced no greater than 6 feet (1829mm) centers and cross-braced to laterally support adjacent frames.
 
          C.Decking Footboard Support Angles: 2 1/2 inch by 2 inch by 3/16 inch (64mm x 51mm x 5mm) meeting loading requirements and for strength.
 
          D.Cross Bracing: Structural aluminum angle 1 3/4 inch by 1 3/4 inch by 3/16 inch (44mm x 44mm x 5mm), bolted at ends and centers to the adjacent frame.

          F.Decking: Full Plank (FP) Deck.
          1.Maintenance free, corrosion resistant all aluminum deck.
          2.Non-slip, anti-skid, fluted tread surface and a concealed fastening system.
          3.The decking system is comprised of various1 3/4 inch (44mm) high aluminum extrusions.
          4.When projected on a horizontal plane, horizontal gaps shall not exceed 0.25 inch between footboards and seat boards.
          5.Where footboards are more than 30 inches above grade, openings between the seat and footboards shall not allow the passage of a sphere greater than 4 inches.
          6.All hardware used for attachment of seats, footboards, riser, mid-aisles rails and all other components to be hot-dipped galvanized steel.
 
          G.Decking: Channel Interlock (CI) Deck. - Closed Deck
          1.Maintenance free, corrosion resistant all aluminum deck
          2.Deck extrusion minimum actual vertical support rib height of 1 3/4 inches with an nominal wall thickness of 0.080 inches (2.0mm) and "mate" longitudinally within the exterior vertical rib to create a positive tongue and groove connection, minimizing deck deflection.
          3.The nose extrusion shall allow for a 1" extruded aluminum contrasting nosepiece to be flush mounted on the leading edge. The front nose extrusion is also designed to encapsulate the vertical riser in an extruded pocket. The rear extrusion or heel has a vertical lip pocket at the rear of the plank that holds the vertical riser plank in place.
          4.These extrusions shall be such that the attachment of the seat brackets, step brackets, mid-aisle rails and all other components that attach at the tread-riser is accomplished without deck penetrations. No through bolting or drilling of the aluminum tread-riser system shall be permitted. Only in areas where there are no nose or heel channels will through bolting be acceptable
          5.Non-slip, anti-skid, fluted tread surface and a concealed fastening system.
          6.Seating Blocks may be reconfigured without leaving exposed penetrations in the aluminum where previous seating use was present.
 
          H.Seating:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Select the required seating type. Delete two of the next three paragraphs.
          1.Bench: 10 inch (254mm) flat aluminum bench seats.
          2.Bench: 10 inch (254mm) contoured aluminum bench seats.
 
          I.Walkways and Aisles:
          1.Elevated walkways: A combination of 2 x 12 Planks - 1 3/4 inch (44mm) x 11 5/8 inch (295mm) and 2 x 10 Planks - 1 3/4 inch (44mm) x 9 5/8 inch (244mm).
          2.Aisle Steps: Standard 2 x 12 plank with 1 inch (25mm) contrasting nosing to delineate the leading edge and encapsulate the riser in an extruded pocket.
 
          J.Guardrails:
          1.1 5/8 (41mm) O.D. anodized aluminum pipe with end plugs and elbows at corners. Secure to angle rail posts with galvanized fasteners.
          2.Furnish on sides of the bleacher including stairs, ramps, portals and landings.
          3.Provide rails at the back and sides of the bleacher 42 inches (1067mm) high measured above the center of the seat board surface.
          4.Install rails at least 42 inches (1067mm) above the elevated front footrests.
          5.2 inch (51mm) by 9 gauge galvanized chain link fencing fastened with aluminum ties and galvanized tension bars and aluminum rail clamps on all sides of the bleacher.
 
          K.Stairs: Fence and Pipe Rail System that conforms to the 4 inch (101.6mm) Ball Rule provided per applicable codes as shown on the Contract Drawings.
          1.2 x 12 aluminum plank with a maximum rise of 7 inches (178mm).
          2.Top rail 42 inches (1067mm) above the leading edge of the treads.
 
          L.Anchoring: Stand must be anchored to a level concrete slab. (Slab by others.) It is recommended that concrete pad be minimum 6" thick w/ steel mesh reinforcing.
 
          M.Handicap Provisions:
          1.Wheelchair pockets inset into the front rows of seating provided in compliance with local codes and the ADA for wheelchair accessibility.
          2.Handicapped seating will be enclosed on all three sides with no exposed vertical rise allowed.
          3.Ramp: Front platform access from a ramp with a maximum gradient of 1:12.
          a.Width: 5 feet (1524mm) wide to allow two-way traffic.
          b.Pipe Rail System: 1 5/8 inch (41mm) O.D. anodized aluminum pipe with a 2 (51mm) inch by 9 gauge galvanized fence. Top rail will be 42 inches (1067mm) above the ramp surface.
          c.Handrail: 36 inches (914mm) above the ramp surface shall be provided.

          N.Free-Standing Press Box:
          1.Press box Support Structure will be independently supported on its own poured concrete piers and connected to bleacher by means of stairs off bleacher aisle.
          2.Support Structure to be 8 feet (2438mm) wide and in increments of 6 feet ( in length.1829mm)
          3.Coordinate With Section 13129 "Press Boxes and Suites".

          4.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
 
          B.Inspect footings and slabs for proper level and location.
 
          C.Affirm appropriate compressive strength of concrete prior to commencing work.
 
          D.If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
 
          4.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          B.Allow concrete footings and slabs to cure at least 28 days before commencement of work.
 
          C.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          4.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
 
          4.4PROTECTION
 
          A.Protect installed products until completion of project.
 
          B.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
