          1.4SUBMITTALS
 
          A.Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
 
          B.Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
          1.Preparation instructions and recommendations.
          2.Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
          3.Installation methods.
 
          C.Shop Drawings: Provide detailed dimensioned shop drawings.
 
          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
 
          A.Soffit system manufacturer shall be staffed with a licensed engineer having a minimum of five years experience with such systems.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
 
          B.Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.
          1.Finish areas designated by Architect.
          2.Do not proceed with remaining work until workmanship, color, and sheen are approved by Architect.
          3.Refinish mock-up area as required to produce acceptable work.
 
          1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Store materials in areas where environmental conditions will be maintained within manufacturer's absolute limits for specified system.
 
          B.Store in manner as recommended by manufacturer to prevent distortion.
 
          1.7PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.
 
          B.Coordinate installation of the interior steel soffit system with other trades.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete if not required.
 
          1.8EXTRA MATERIALS
 
          A.The installing contractor shall supply the owner with quantities of spare parts equal to a minimum of five percent (5%) of the total quantities of each interior steel soffit system part utilized in this installation.
 
          PART 2PRODUCTS
 
          2.1MANUFACTURERS

          B.Substitutions: Not permitted.
 
          C.Requests for substitutions will be considered in accordance with provisions of Section 01600.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Our line goes beyond providing a classic-looking, minimal-hassle interior soffit system. The dual nature of our architectural soffits not only conceals any exposed combination of Fire Sprinkler, Plumbing and Hydronic piping, HVAC or Electrical systems but also does so in a creative, stylish manner unlike any other interior soffit solution offered in today's market. Delete if not required.
 
          2.2SOFFIT COVER SYSTEM
 
          A.Factory fabricated steel cover support system with concealed surface-mounted attachment clamps, in dimensions as shown on the drawings for concealment of Fire Sprinkler Systems, Piping, HVAC, Conduit, Wiring, and Cable. The soffit material shall have a snap-lock interfacing with the clips such that once assembled, it is rendered virtually irremovable with the use of ordinary tools.
          1.Product: JGI Interlock Concealment Systems as manufactured by JG Innovations, Inc.
 
          B.Support/Attachment Devices:
          1.Spring steel shield clips of the size recommended by manufacturer, for securement of the soffit material.
          2.Clips shall be produced from 21 gauge (0.84 mm) minimum zinc-plated spring steel and shall have a reverse curvature design such that the clips soundly secure the soffit from easy removal.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Heavy soffit systems of 16 and 18 gauge require stronger clips. Delete if not required.
          a.Each clip shall be demonstrated as being able to resist a force of 200 lbs (90 kg) uplift at the free end.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Lighter soffit systems of 20, 22 and 24 gauge require clip below. Delete if not required.
          b.Each clip shall be demonstrated as being able to resist a force of 100 lbs (45 kg) uplift at the free end.
 
          C.Interior Steel Soffit System:
          1.Size and profiles: The soffit system shall be sized in accordance with requirements to accommodate the specific application and profiles as specified by the contract drawings.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete material not required.
          2.Material: The soffit system shall be smooth in appearance and shall be made of (G90) Zinc Galvannealed Steel with a factory painted powder coating finish.
          3.Material: The soffit system shall be smooth in appearance and shall be made of Stainless Steel with a #4 mechanical finish.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete thickness not required.
          4.Thickness: 16 gauge (1.52 mm).
          5.Thickness: 18 gauge (1.21 mm).
          6.Thickness: 20 gauge (0.91 mm).
          7.Thickness: 22 gauge (0.76 mm).
          8.Thickness: 24 gauge (0.61 mm).
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete options for profiles not required.
          9.Profiles: L-Shield soffit profile for sidewall installations, U-Shield soffit profile for pendant installations.
          10.Profiles: L-Shield.
          11.Profiles: U-Shield.
          12.Profiles: J-Shield.
          13.Profiles: Bow-Shield.
          14.Profiles: Soft Edge-Shield.
          15.Profiles: Crown Molding-Shield.
          16.Profiles: As indicated on the Drawings.
          17.Profiles: As selected by Architect from manufacturer's full range of standard options.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete options for finish not required.
          18.Finish: Factory painted with Sherwin Williams epoxy polyester hybrid powder coating of custom color as specified. Matching touch-up paint shall be supplied to the owner by the manufacturer.
          19.Finish: Zinc-galvanized Paintgrip (treated to accept painting but not painted) of ASTM-A527 Coating Class G90.
          20.Finish: Zinc-galvanized Paintgrip, factory treated and factory painted in colors selected by architect.
          21.Finish: Primed with specific primer, which will be compatible with paint scheduled after installation.
          22.Provide tamper-resistant end caps, wall flanges, couplings, and other items which may be necessary to complete the system, and shall be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.
          23.Provide L-Shield soffit profile for sidewall installations and/or U-Shield soffit profile for sidewall and/or pendant installations respectively.
 
          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared. Before installation, verify openings are plumb, square, and of proper dimension as required by manufacturer for installation.
 
          B.If rough opening preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding. Beginning of installation constitutes acceptance of existing conditions.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
 
          B.Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION
 
          A.Installation of system shall be in strict accordance with approved shop drawings and manufacturer's printed instructions.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete if not required.
          1.If used to conceal fire sprinkler systems, the sprinkler contractor/engineer must determine the piping and sprinkler layout, including sprinkler head locations and pipe support locations, based on pipe manufacturer's specifications and drawings
          2.Cover sprinkler heads carefully during painting and remove covering completely immediately after painting.
          3.Select fasteners based on manufacturer's recommendations for the substrate encountered to adequately secure the interior steel soffit system.
          4.Anchor support devices squarely and firmly in a straight line against the structural surface to insure that soffit is linear and snug-fitting when installed.
          5.Penetrations to the interior steel soffit system shall be field cut to prevent misalignment with intended protrusion. The exceptions to this are that access doors may be factory furnished and installed and perforations, if required for ventilation, may be factory perforated.
          6.Guidelines for installation of modular interior steel soffit system shall be supplied by the manufacturer of said system and the installing contractor shall adhere to the manufacturer's guidelines. Such guidelines shall be supplied by manufacturer in the form of written installation instructions
          7.Install accessory items as required.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** 1,500 lineal feet minimum. Delete if not required.
 
          B.Manufacturer shall, upon installer's request, supply on-site installation instruction by a qualified installation instructor for a minimum of one day for the project start-up
 
          C.Replace with new components all stained, discolored, or abraded covers that can not be restored to their original condition.
 
          D.All field ends and scratches shall be touched up (spray or brush) with a matching paint. The completed installation shall be visibly searched for voids between the interfacing of the cover and construction surface. Voids shall be sealed with a color matching urethane caulk.
 
          E.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged, stained, discolored, or abraded soffit covers before Substantial Completion.
