          1.5QUALITY ASSURANCE
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** In this article, describe qualifications, regulatory requirements, certifications, field samples, mock-ups, and pre installation meetings.
 
          A.Manufacturer Qualifications: Firms regularly engaged in manufacture of raceway and box distribution products and systems of the types and sizes required, whose products have been in satisfactory use in similar service for not less than 10 years. Provide raceway and box distribution systems produced Wiremold®.
 
          B.Source Limitation: Obtain each type of round recessed raised and stage floor box through one source from a single manufacturer.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
 
          C.Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.
          1.Finish areas designated by Architect.

          F.Electrical Boxes and Fittings: Comply with requirements of applicable local codes, NEC, UL, ETL, and NEMA Standards pertaining to boxes and fittings. Listed and labeled in accordance with NFPA 70, Section 300-21.
 
          G.Products: Listed and classified by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. as suitable for the purpose specified and indicated.
 
          H.Accessibility Compliance: Design device flange to meet ADA Accessibility Guidelines as to changes in floor and ground surface levels. Flanges shall be beveled so the slope is no greater than 1:2.
 
          1.6DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
 
          A.Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
 
          B.Store and handle in strict compliance with manufacturer's written instructions and recommendations.
 
          C.Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
 
          D.Protect from damage due to weather, excessive temperature, and construction operations.
 
          1.7PROJECT CONDITIONS
 
          A.Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

          2.2SURFACE MOUNTED RACEWAYS
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Dimensions provided refer to assembled dimensions.
 
          A.General:
          1.System: Provide surface raceway systems for branch circuit and data network voice, video and other low-voltage wiring. Surface raceway system components necessary for a complete installation shall consist of the following:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete option for components that includes ‘pre-divided raceway bases’ and ‘dual covers’ if the DS4000 and OFR model raceways are not specified below.
          a.Components: Raceway bases, covers, fittings and device mounting plates.
          b.Components: Raceway bases, covers, fittings and device mounting plates, pre-divided raceway bases, dual covers.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Retain the second option for configuration if the DS4000 model raceway is specified below. Retain the third option for configuration if the OFR model raceway specified below. Delete the second and third options for configuration for all other models.
          2.Configuration: Raceways shall be one- or two-piece design with base and snap-on cover, or three-piece design with base and two snap-on covers which snap side by side on a common base. Base shall be dividable with a fixed barrier for up to 4 compartments. Raceway shall be available in widths of 3/4 inch to (10 inch 19 mm) to (254 mm) and depths of 17/32 inch to 5 inch (13 mm to 127 mm). Provide raceways from a company that can provide custom sizes if required. Raceway covers shall be available in tamper-resistant form with screws on access plates and covers of fittings, but not on standard cover lengths.
          3.Configuration: Raceways shall be multi-piece design with metal base and snap-on metal covers. Assembled base and cover is 5-3/4 inches (146 mm) wide by 2-1/8 inches (54 mm) high with a cross section area of 10.06 sq in. Base shall have 2 wiring channels, separated by 1 integral divider, large enough to accept standard power and communication devices without restricting capacity of the adjacent channel. The raceway base shall accept 2 covers that allow separation of services. The cover shall slightly curve and form the raceway sidewall. Provide the base with scored lines to facilitate sectioning of the raceway in 4 inch (102 mm) increments and include mounting holes, and tunnel knockouts in the divider wall that will facilitate the crossing over of services.
          4.Configuration: Raceways shall be multi-piece design with metal base and screw-on metal covers. Assembled base and cover is 7 inches (178 mm) wide by 1/2 inch (13 mm) high. Height of assembled base and cover increases from 0 inches (0 mm) at edge to 1/2 inches (13 mm) with a slope of no less than 1:2. Base shall have 4 wiring channels, separated by 3 integral dividers. Base shall be suitable for mounting directly to bare concrete or floor coverings.
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Retain the first set of options for fittings if the OFR model is specified below. Delete the first set of options for fittings for all other models.
          5.Fittings:
          a.Fittings shall include flat, couplings for joining raceway sections, wire clips, and device mounting brackets and plates as applicable. Where required, provide tamper-resistant form, dividable with barriers and matching the size of the accompanying raceway base.
          b.Provide full capacity corner elbows to maintain a controlled 2 inch (51 mm) cable bend radius, meeting the specification for Fiber Optic and UTP cabling and exceeding the TIA/EIA-569-A requirements for communications pathways.
          6.Fittings:
          a.Fittings shall include flat, internal and external elbows, couplings for joining raceway sections, wire clips, blank end fittings, and device mounting brackets and plates as applicable. Where required, provide tamper-resistant form, dividable with barriers and matching the size of the accompanying raceway base.
          b.Provide full capacity corner elbows and tee fittings to maintain a controlled 2 inches (51 mm) cable bend radius, meeting the specification for Fiber Optic and UTP cabling and exceeding the TIA/EIA-569-A requirements for communications pathways.
          7.Device Brackets and Plates: Provide in sizes to match the raceway width and with mounting holes located to ensure proper mounting of devices in up to 4 compartments. Device plates shall be available in any length from 6 inches to 60 inches (152 mm to 1524 mm), with cutouts to accommodate various combinations of power and communications devices in up to 4 compartments. Provide 6 inch and 12 inch (152 mm and 305 mm) long device plates with a flange to overlap the joint of adjacent cover as applicable.
          8.Communications Devices and Accessories: Raceway shall accommodate a complete line of connectivity outlets and modular inserts for UTP (including Category 5, 5e, 6) STP (150 ohm) fiber optic, coaxial, and other cabling types with matching faceplates and bezels to facilitate mounting. Where indicated, provide connectivity outlets and modular inserts by Ortronics or approved equal.
 
          B.Classification:
          1.Compliance: Raceway and system components.

          2.Larger 2 and 3 channel non-metallic raceways shall be UL Listed under File Nos. E90378 Guide RJTX and E90377 Guide RJYT, respectively.

          5.Systems shall comply with UL Standard UL5 for Surface Metal Raceways.

          30.Adjustable Length Raceway Couplings: Provide raceway base sections with adjustable couplings. Each pair of couplings works in conjunction with the raceway base’s scored lines to allow less accurate field cuts. The coupling shall accommodate 4 inches (102 mm) of lateral movement and facilitate the ability of the raceway to maintain coordination with the wall framing as required. Each coupling shall provide a means of adding supplemental ground screws.
          31.Fittings: Fittings shall include flat, internal and external elbows, tees, entrance fittings, wire clips, cover clips, couplings, support clips, and end caps. Covers for fittings shall overlap adjoining raceway covers a minimum of 3/8 inches (10 mm). Fittings shall be color matched to the raceway. Supply fittings with a base where applicable to eliminate mitering. Provide fittings with adjustable couplings that integrate with the raceway base. Provide a take-off fitting supporting dual services to adapt to existing flush wall boxes and other series of metallic raceways. Fittings shall have provisions to accept tamper resistant fasteners to fully secure the raceway.
          a.Fiber Optic/UTP/STP Fittings: Corner elbows, tees, and entrance end fittings as required to maintain a controlled 2 inches (51 mm) nominal cable bend radius that meets the specifications for Fiber Optic and UTP/STP cabling and exceeds TIA 569 requirements for communications pathways.
          b.Obstacle Avoidance and Offset Fittings: Provide fittings as required to bypass large and small obstacles and small offsets in supporting wall. Small obstacle avoidance fitting capable of being converted into a takeoff fitting to transition to other metallic raceways.
          32.Device Brackets and Plates:
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete the second option for forward fittings if pre-mounted receptacles are not required.
          a.Forward Fittings: Provide device brackets to install single-gang devices horizontally in either channel within the raceway. Provide horizontal device brackets with a single gang face plate. Horizontal device mounting brackets shall be a single piece with integral auxiliary grounding points. Device brackets and activation face plates shall allow the electrical or communications devices to face forward from the sidewall of the raceway.
          b.Forward Fittings: Provide horizontal device brackets with factory pre-mounted receptacles with wire leads. Device brackets and activation face plates shall allow the electrical or communications devices to face forward from the sidewall of the raceway.
          c.Downward Fittings: Provide downward facing device brackets and face plates with internal tunneling devices to allow cabling to cross over the adjacent channel and exit the downward facing sidewall and maintain separation of services and full capacity of the specified channel. When this is provided, the maximum cable bend radius is 4 inches (102 mm). Devices for both power and data/communication must have the capacity of mounting flush or in conjunction with face plates. The face plates shall be used to conceal seams between raceway cover and installed face plate. Device brackets and plates with any combination of multiple opening options and with any combination of multiple device opening options. Color match device brackets and plates to the raceway.
          33.Communications Devices and Accessories: Raceway shall accommodate a complete line of connectivity outlets and modular inserts for UTP (including Category 5, 5e, 6) STP (150 ohm) fiber optic, coaxial, and other cabling types with matching faceplates and bezels to facilitate mounting. Provide with complete line of preprinted station and port identification labels.

Raceway sections shall be provided with 12 inches (305 mm) pigtails at feed locations for ease of installation. The box and system components shall be UL listed in accordance with UL 514A and UL 514C. The device mounting bracket shall be molded from color matching UL approved resin.

          A.Classification and Use: Floor boxes shall have been examined and tested by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. to meet UL 514A and/or UL 514C and Canadian Standard C22.2, No. 18.1-04 and 18.2-06 and bear the U.S. and Canadian UL Listing Mark. Floor boxes shall also have been tested by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. and classified for fire resistance and bear the U.S. and Canadian UL Classification Mark. Devices shall be classified for use in 2-hour rated, unprotected reinforced concrete floors and 2-hour rated floors employing unprotected steel floor units and concrete toppings (D900 Series Designs) or concrete floors with suspended ceilings (fire resistive designs with suspended ceilings should have provisions for accessibility in the ceiling below the floor boxes). Floor boxes shall also conform to the standards set in Section 300-21 of the National Electrical Code. Floor boxes shall meet UL scrub water requirements, but are not suitable for wet or damp locations, or other areas subject to saturation with water or other liquids such as commercial kitchens. Floor boxes shall also have been evaluated by UL to meet the applicable U.S. and Canadian safety standards for scrub water exclusion when used on tile, bare concrete, terrazzo, wood, and carpet covered floors. Floor boxes shall be suitable for use in air handling spaces in accordance with Section 300-22 (C) of the National Electrical Code.
 
          B.Floor Boxes, General: Evolution Series Floor Boxes for use on above grade concrete floors, raised floors or wood floors. Provide boxes with a component to permit installation in polished concrete or terrazzo floors. Boxes shall be compatible with complete line of Ortronics workstation connectivity outlets and modular inserts.

          L.Activation Covers: Manufactured of die-cast aluminum. Activation covers shall be available in surface mount and flush versions. Provide covers with two gaskets (one for carpet and one for tile) to go under the trim flange to maintain scrub watertightness. Covers shall be 16-15/16 inches x 12-1/2 inches x 3/16 inches (430 mm x 318 mm x 4 mm). Covers shall be available with a carpet recess area or a solid lid. Secure the cover to the flange and enable cover to rotate greater than 180 degrees to reduce trip hazards and provide maximum amount of working space. Provide covers with spring-loaded self-closing slide egress doors to reduce egress opening when cables are exiting and reduce trip hazards.           2.7FLOOR BOXES FOR ON-GRADE AND ABOVE-GRADE CONCRETE FLOORS
 
          A.Classification and Use: Provide floor boxes approved for use in concrete floor construction. Boxes shall be approved for above grade (stamped steel) and on grade (epoxy coated stamped steel (spec locker), cast iron or nonmetallic) applications. Floor boxes shall have been examined and tested by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. to meet UL514A and Canadian Standard C22.2 and shall bear the appropriate label. Floor boxes shall conform to the standard set in the National Electrical Code. Multi-compartment box shall have been evaluated by UL to meet the applicable U.S. and Canadian safety standards for scrub water exclusion when used on tile, terrazzo, wood, and carpet covered floors.
 
          B.Configurations: Boxes shall be available in one-, two-, or three-gang configurations or a single unit with two to eleven independent wiring compartments and available in stamped steel, epoxy coated stamped steel, nonmetallic and cast iron versions. Boxes shall be available in deep and shallow versions. Boxes shall provide pre- and post-pour adjustments.           3.Boxes shall provide a series of device mounting plates that will accept duplex power devices, audio/visual devices as well as plates that will accommodate connectivity outlets and modular inserts.           2.8FIRE CLASSIFIED FLOOR BOXES FOR ON-GRADE AND ABOVE-GRADE CONCRETE FLOORS
          ** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Fire classified floor box use is limited by the UL Fire Resistance Directory to a minimum spacing of 2 feet (610mm) on center and not more than one device per 4 square feet (.372m2) of floor area in each span. Nonmetallic Fire Classified Floor Box use is limited by the UL Fire Resistance Directory to a minimum spacing of 2 feet (610 mm) on center and not more than one device per 65 square feet (6 square meters) of floor area in each span.
 
          A.Classification and Use: Floor boxes shall have been examined and tested by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. to comply with UL 514A and/or UL 514C and Canadian Standard C22.2, No. 18-98 and bear the U.S. and Canadian UL Listing Mark. Fire classified floor boxes shall also have been tested by UL and classified for fire resistance and bear the U.S. and Canadian UL Classification Mark. The floor boxes shall conform to the standards set forth in the National Electrical Code, Section 300-21.
          1.Fire Rated Floor boxes shall be classified for use in 1, 1-1/2, or 2-hour rated floors and 1, 1-1/2, or 2 hour rated floors employing unprotected steel floor units and, or concrete floors with suspended ceilings. Fire resistive designs with suspended ceilings shall have provisions for accessibility in the ceiling below the floor boxes.
          2.Floor boxes shall have been evaluated by UL to meet the applicable U.S. and Canadian safety standards for scrub water exclusion when used on tile, terrazzo, wood, and carpet covered floors.
          3.These devices are not suitable for wet or damp locations, or other areas subject to saturation with water or other liquids such as commercial kitchens.

Round floor boxes shall provide four 1 inch (25 mm) conduit openings to feed cabling to the box.           a.Equip boxes with a high impact mudcap to protect the box from damage and prevent concrete entry during the pour and debris entry after the pour. The mudcap shall withstand loads up to 700-lbs over a 2 inch (50.8 mm) diameter. Box shall also be provided with ratchet teeth along interior box walls to attach cover. Box shall include internal spacer to prevent deformation of the box sidewalls when high temperature additives are used in the concrete pour.
          5.Adjusting rings shall be used to attach flanges and covers to the floor box body. Adjusting ring shall have ratchet teeth to align with the teeth on box wall to connect box body without the use of adhesive or mechanical fasteners. Adjusting ring shall provide for 10 degrees of adjustment after concrete pour to adjust to various concrete conditions and floor finishes. Provide brass inserts to mount finish flanges to box body. Adjusting ring shall also provide for grounding locations using brass inserts.
          6.Adjusting ring shall provide the ability to accept a modular connectivity system. Modular communication inserts shall snap directly into the adjusting ring openings. Adjusting ring for the rectangular box shall provide a fiber storage loop to maintain proper fiber optic bend radius control and excess fiber storage. Box shall allow for ganging of boxes together through the dovetail, interlocking mechanism. Knockouts shall be provided on the side walls of each box to provide for pass-through capability between each gang. Box shall also have concrete depth markings on the exterior of the box to indicate box depth at the time of the pour. Box shall also provide graduated cubic inch markings on the interior of the box to indicate volume capacity at the appropriate box depth.
          1.Knockouts:
          a.Rectangular floor boxes shall provide two 1-1/4 inches (32 mm) openings, adjustable to accommodate 1/2 inch (13 mm), 3/4 inch (19 mm) and 1 inch (25 mm) trade size conduits.
          b.Round floor boxes shall provide four 1 inch (25mm) conduit opening to feed cabling to the box. Box shall provide the means to reduce this opening to fit 3/4 inch (19 mm) and 1/2 inch (13 mm) conduit sizes.
          2.Adjusting rings shall be used to attach flanges and covers to the floor box body. Adjusting ring shall have ratchet teeth to align with the teeth on box wall to connect box body without the use of adhesive or mechanical fasteners. Adjusting ring shall provide for 10 degrees of adjustment after concrete pour to adjust to various concrete conditions and floor finishes. Provide brass inserts to mount finish flanges to box body. Adjusting ring shall also provide for grounding locations using brass inserts.
          3.Adjusting ring shall provide the ability to accept a modular connectivity system. Modular communication inserts shall snap directly into the adjusting ring openings. Adjusting ring for the rectangular box shall provide a fiber storage loop to maintain proper fiber optic bend radius control and excess fiber storage. Each adjusting ring shall except up to six connectivity activation locations. Adjusting ring shall allow modular connectivity inserts to be mounted recessed and protected when not in use.

          A.Classification and Use: The firestop device for use in through-penetration firestop systems shall have been examined and tested by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. to UL 1479 (ASTM E 814) and bear the U.S. and Canadian UL Classification Mark. The device shall be classified for use in one-, two-, three-, and four-hour rated gypsum, concrete and block walls and provide a maximum L rating of 3.3 cfm. The device shall be classified for use in one-, two-, and three-hour rated concrete floors having a minimum 4-1/2 inches (114 mm) thick reinforced lightweight or normal weight (100 to 150 pcf) (1600 to 2400 kg/cu. m). The devices shall also been tested by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. to UL 2043 and determined to be suitable for use in air handling spaces.

The intumescent block shall be held securely by the box in order to prevent tampering and damage during installation.
          3.The firestop device shall have doors which can be adjusted to prevent materials from penetrating the device if the device is empty or completely full. The doors shall be constructed of 16 gauge G90 steel with No. 10-32 screws use to adjust opening size.

          A.Classification and Use: Poke-thru device use is limited by the UL Fire Resistance Directory to a minimum spacing of 2 feet (610 mm) on center and not more than one device per 65 square feet (6 square meters) of floor area in each span. Poke-thru device shall have been examined and tested by Underwriters Laboratories Inc. to comply with UL 514A and/or UL 514C, as applicable and tested to Canadian Standard C22.2 and bear the cULus mark. The poke-thru shall conform to the standards set in the National Electrical Code, Section 300-21.
          1.Poke-thru device shall be for use in 1, 1-1/2, or 2-hour rated, unprotected reinforced concrete floors and 1, 1-1/2, or 2 hour rated floors employing unprotected steel floor units and concrete toppings (D900 Series designs), or concrete floors with suspended ceilings. Fire resistive designs with suspended ceilings shall have provisions for accessibility in the ceiling below the poke-thru device fittings.
          2.Poke-thru device shall have been evaluated by UL to meet the applicable U.S. and Canadian safety standards for scrub water exclusion when used on tile, terrazzo, wood, and carpet covered floors.
          3.Poke-thru device shall be suitable for use in air handling spaces in accordance with Section 300-22C of the National Electrical Code.

Two gaskets (one for carpet and one for tile) are provided to go under the trim flange to maintain scrub water tightness. The activation cover shall be 7-1/4 inches (184 mm) in diameter.           3.Insert: The insert body shall have the necessary channels to provide complete separation of power and communication services. There shall be two channels that allow for up to ten #10 AWG conductors in the power channel and twenty-eight category 6A data cables through the communication channel.
          a.The body will consist of an intumescent fire stop material to maintain the fire rating of the floor slab. The intumescent material will be held securely in place in the insert body and shall not have to be adjusted to maintain fire rating of the unit and the floor slab. The insert shall have retaining feature that will hold the poke-thru device in the floor slab without additional fasteners. The poke-thru insert shall also consist of a 3/4 inches trade size conduit stub that is connected to the insert body and a 24.5 cu. in. (402ml) stamped steel junction box for wire splices and connections. The stamped steel junction box shall also contain the necessary means to electrically ground the poke-thru device to the system ground.
          4.Activation Cover: The activation covers shall be manufactured of die-cast aluminum alloy and be available in powder-coated gray, black, or plated in brass, nickel or bronze finish. Two gaskets (one for carpet and one for tile) are provided to go under the trim flange to maintain scrub water tightness. The activation cover shall be 7-3/4 inches (196 mm) in diameter. The activation covers shall be available in the surface mount (carpet) version. The cover shall have one 3/4 inch (19.05 mm) trade size opening for power and one 1-1/4 inches / 2 inches (31.75/50.8) combination trade size opening for communications.
 
          L.Communication Modules Mounting Accessories: The poke-thru manufacturer shall have available open modular inserts to facilitate mounting UTP (including Category 5, 5e, 6), STP, fiber optic, coaxial, and data/communications devices. The AV3 series shall accommodate Extron MAAP mini architectural adapter plates. Where indicated, provide connectivity outlets and modular inserts by Ortronics or approved equal.
 
          M.Mounting: Units shall permit wiring to be completed at floor level. The units shall mount in either a 3 inch or 4 inch core hole as applicable. Installation shall be completed by pushing unit down into a cored hole. The specified poke-thru shall be UL listed to US and Canadian standards for use on carpet, tile, terrazzo, and wood covered floors.

          2.13SECURE SURFACE MOUNTED RACEWAYS
 
          A.General:
          1.System: Provide secure surface raceway and enclosure systems for SIPRNET, NIPRNET, JWICS, DoD, Federal Government and other sensitive information networks. Surface raceway system shall consist of raceway bases, covers, square 1 piece raceway (2 inchesx2 inches and 1 inchesx1 inches), secure (lockable) enclosures and appropriate fittings and device mounting plates necessary for a complete installation.
          2.Configuration: Raceways shall be one-piece or two-piece design with base and structurally sound inter-locking cover, without the need for a distributive locking mechanism. 2-piece raceway shall be 4.75 inches (121 mm) wide and 1-3/4 inches (45 mm) deep with all seams located on the front of the raceway. 1-piece raceways shall be 2 inches by 2 inches (51 mm by 51 mm) or 1 inch by 1 inches (25 mm by 25 mm). Raceway couplings and fittings shall provide a 3 inches (76 mm) overlap prevent covert and surreptitious entry. 2-piece raceway shall provide cable management brackets to facilitate cable ties. Provide raceways and enclosures from a company that can design and manufacture custom options where required. Note: Epoxy coating of seams and joints may be required - check with Designated (Local) Approval Authority for PDS requirements.
          3.Fittings: Fittings shall include (but not limited to), internal and external elbows, tees, transitions, offsets, dropouts, end terminations, through wall, couplings for joining raceway sections, wire clips, blank end fittings, and device mounting brackets and plates as applicable. 2 inches by 2 inches and 1 inch by 1 inches raceway shall have universal tee and elbow fittings. Provide full capacity fittings to maintain a controlled 2 inches (51 mm) cable bend radius, meeting the specification for Fiber Optic and UTP cabling and exceeding the TIA/EIA-569-A requirements for communications pathways.
          4.Raceway and Fitting Mounting Brackets: Raceway system shall be secured to mounting surfaces using 1.5 inches (38 mm) mounting brackets, providing 360 degree inspection capability of raceway and mounting hardware in compliance with NSTISSI 7003.
          5.Enclosures: Enclosures shall have solid welded external seams, lockable doors with stainless steel hasps that accept Sargent and Greenleaf 8077AD padlocks, no external hinges and no pre-punched knock-outs are permitted. Enclosures which have raceway adapters, shall be factory welded.
          6.Communications Devices and Accessories: Point of use enclosures shall accommodate a complete line of connectivity outlets and modular inserts for UTP (including Category 5, 5e, 6) STP (150 ohm) fiber optic, coaxial, and other cabling types with matching faceplates and bezels to facilitate mounting. Where indicated, provide connectivity outlets and modular inserts by Ortronics or approved equal.
 
          B.Classification:
          1.Surface raceways and enclosures shall be suitable for use in dry interior locations only.
          2.Product shall meet or exceed requirements set out in NSTISSI 7003, Protective Distribution Systems as approved by the local/ Designated Approval Authority.
 
          C.Secure Surface Mounted Metal Raceways: WSSR (2 piece), WSSR2x2 (1 piece), WSSR 1 by 1 (1 piece) manufactured by Wiremold®.
          1.Material: WSSR2x2 - Type 409 SS, .055 inch wall. WSSR1x1 - Type 409 SS, .047 inch wall. WSSR - Galv-annealed mild steel, minimum thickness 0.048 inch (1.2 mm).
          2.Finish: Manufacturer's standard powder coat gloss ivory or custom color as selected.
          3.Fittings: Fittings shall include (but not limited to), internal and external elbows, tees, transitions, offsets, dropouts, end terminations, through wall, couplings for joining raceway sections, wire clips, blank end fittings, and device mounting brackets and plates as applicable. 2 inches by 2 inches and 1 inch by 1 inch raceway shall have universal tee and elbow fittings. Provide full capacity fittings to maintain a controlled 2 inches (51 mm) cable bend radius, meeting the specification for Fiber Optic and UTP cabling and exceeding the TIA/EIA-569-A requirements for communications pathways.
          a.Fiber Optic/UTP/STP Fittings: Corner elbows, tees, and entrance end fittings as required to maintain a controlled 2 inches (51 mm) nominal cable bend radius that meets the specifications for Fiber Optic and UTP/STP cabling and exceeds TIA 569 requirements for communications pathways.
          b.Obstacle Avoidance and Offset Fittings: Provide fittings as required to bypass large and small obstacles and small offsets in supporting wall.
 
          D.Communications Devices and Accessories: Point of use enclosures shall accommodate Ortronics workstation connectivity outlets and a complete line of connectivity outlets and modular inserts for UTP (including Category 5, 5e, 6) STP (150 ohm) fiber optic, coaxial, and other cabling types with matching faceplates and bezels to facilitate mounting.
 
          PART 3EXECUTION
 
          3.1EXAMINATION
 
          A.Examine conditions under which raceways and boxes are to be installed. Do not proceed with installation until substrates have been properly prepared and deviations from manufacturer’s recommended tolerances are corrected. Commencement of installation constitutes acceptance of conditions.
 
          3.2PREPARATION
 
          A.Prepare substrates using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
 
          B.If preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect in writing of deviations from manufacturer’s recommended installation tolerances and conditions.
 
          3.3INSTALLATION - GENERAL
 
          A.Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions for system components and approved shop drawings. Coordinate installation with adjacent work to ensure proper clearances and to prevent electrical hazards.
 
          B.Install in accordance with complete system instruction sheets.
 
          C.Install enclosures to be mechanically continuous and connected to all electrical outlets, boxes, device mounting brackets, and cabinets, in accordance with manufacturer's installation sheets.
 
          D.Install enclosures to be electrically continuous and bonded in accordance with the National Electric Code for proper grounding.
          1.Mechanical Security: Raceway systems shall be mechanically continuous and connected to all electrical outlets, boxes, device mounting brackets, and cabinets, in accordance with manufacturer’s installation sheets.
          2.Electrical Security: Metal raceway shall be electrically continuous and bonded in accordance with the National Electric Code for proper grounding.
          3.Raceway Support: Raceway shall be supported at intervals not exceeding 5 feet (1524 mm) or in accordance with manufacturer’s installation sheets.
          4.Accessories: Provide accessories as required for a complete installation, including insulated bushings and inserts where required by manufacturer.
          5.Unused Openings: Close unused raceway openings using manufacturer's recommended accessories.

          3.4POWER POLE INSTALLATION
 
          A.Install indoor power poles and architectural columns in accordance with manufacturer's suggested installation instructions, and as specified. Locate the indoor power poles and architectural columns in strict accordance with the Drawings in order to maintain the indicated pole and column spacing.
 
          B.Mechanical Security: Install system in such a manner that it is mechanically continuous and connected to all electrical outlets, boxes, and cabinets, in accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions.
 
          C.Electrical Security: Install system in such a manner that it is electrically continuous and bonded in accordance with the provisions of the National Electric Code.
 
          D.System Support: Securely support system at the ceiling and floor in accordance with manufacturer's installation instructions.
 
          E.Install system complete with insulating bushings and inserts where required by manufacturer's installation instructions. Close all unused openings where wire is exposed.

          3.5SECURE NETWORK INSTALLATION
 
          A.Strictly comply with manufacturer's installation instructions and recommendations and approved shop drawings. Coordinate installation with adjacent work to ensure proper clearances and to prevent electrical hazards. Ensure installation compliance with site CTTA (and/or DAA (Designated Approval Authority).
          1.Mechanical Security: WSSR two piece raceway shall have structurally interlocking base seams and cover seams offset.
          2.Raceway Support: Raceway shall be supported by 3 mounting brackets per 10 foot length. Raceway fittings shall be supported by 2 mounting brackets per fitting.
          3.All pre-located raceway mounting holes shall be used to secure system in place.
          4.Accessories: Provide accessories as required for a complete installation, where required by manufacturer.

          3.6FLOOR BOX INSTALLATION
 
          A.Strictly comply with manufacturer's installation instructions and recommendations and approved shop drawings. Coordinate installation with adjacent work to ensure proper clearances and to prevent electrical hazards.

          3.7FIRE STOP THRU-WALL/THRU-FLOOR FITTINGS INSTALLATION
 
          A.Prior to and during installation, refer to the system layout or approval drawings containing all elements of the system. Installer shall comply with complete system instruction sheets.
 
          B.The firestop device shall be installed in accordance with the UL Fire Resistance Directory, as well as any applicable codes and standards for general building, electrical and firestopping installation practices.
 
          3.8PROTECTION
 
          A.Clean exposed surfaces using non-abrasive materials and methods recommended by manufacturer.
 
          B.Protect installed products until completion of project.
 
          C.Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
