	1.3	SYSTEM DESCRIPTION
		A.	Guidance strips and handrail strips manufactured to withstand long-term pedestrian traffic, to ensure step-edge contrast in all lighting conditions is sufficient for all users, including those people with vision loss, and/or to ensure sufficient definition of step-edges, handrail strips, and the floor perimeter in the event of failure of the installed electrical lighting.
	1.4	SUBMITTALS
		A.	Submit under provisions of Section 01300.
		B.	Product Data: Manufacturer's product specification information and recommendations for each product.
			1.	Preparation instructions and recommendations.
			2.	Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
			3.	Installation methods.
		C.	Shop Drawings:
			1.	Indicate fabrication details, surface profile, placement, installation materials and procedure.
		D.	Samples: Submit selection for finish and color.
		E.	Quality Assurance Submittals: Submit the following:
			1.	Test Reports: Showing compliance with required standards, ordinances and codes.
	1.5	QUALITY ASSURANCE
		A.	Manufacturer Qualifications: Provide products and accessories as produced by a single manufacturer with a minimum of three years experience manufacturing detectable/tactile warning surfaces.
		B.	Installer Qualifications: Engage an experienced installer certified in writing by manufacturer as qualified for the installation.
		C.	Obtain proprietary high contrast step-edge products and Photoluminescent Pathfinding System products from a single manufacturer.
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Include a mock-up if the project size and/or quality warrant taking such a precaution. The following is one example of how a mock-up on a large project might be specified. When deciding on the extent of the mock-up, consider all the major different types of work on the project.
		D.	Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.

	1.6	DELIVERY, STORAGE & HANDLING
		A.	Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
		B.	Store and dispose of solvent-based materials, and materials used with solvent-based materials, in accordance with requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction.
	1.7	PROJECT CONDITIONS
		A.	Field Measurements: Verify with field measurements prior to final preparation of cut list and manufacture.
		B.	Environmental Requirements/Conditions: Refer to adhesive manufacturer's data sheet for environmental requirements. Refer to manufacturers installation instructions for preparation of site prior to installation.
	1.8	WARRANTY
		A.	Manufacturer's Warranty: Manufacturer warrants that material supplied will be free of manufacturing defects.
			1.	Warranty Period: 3 Years commencing on Date of Substantial Completion. Warranty voided if required maintenance procedures are not followed.

Construction: 65 mm (2.56 inches) tread length by 15 mm (0.59 inch) riser height, consisting of 6060 T526 aluminum extrusion, anodized to 20 microns thickness with replaceable insert fixed into the extrusion using modified acrylic adhesive tape. The insert is an extruded 6060 T5 aluminum section, powder coated, with Silicon Carbide non-slip materials and/or photoluminescent pigment embedded in thermoset polyester carriers which integrally bond the active ingredients into the powder coated aluminum following curing at 180 degree C (350 degree F). The photoluminescent area is recessed into protective channels.

	PART 3	EXECUTION
	3.1	MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS
		A.	Comply with manufacturer's product data, installation instructions and maintenance instructions.
	3.2	EXAMINATION
		A.	Site Verification of Conditions: Verify surface preparation, surface for installation should be level, clean and free of moisture. Installer shall notify Contractor, in writing, of conditions detrimental to the proper completion of the work. Do not proceed with work until unsatisfactory conditions are corrected. Beginning work means that Installer accepts substrates and conditions.
	3.3	PREPARATION
	** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Delete application not required.
		A.	Surface Preparation - Concrete: Test prior to installation the reaction of installation adhesive with concrete sealant. Should sealant not bond with installation adhesive i) refrain from applying sealant until nosing is installed (care to be taken that sealant is not applied to nosing post installation), or ii) grind sealant back to original concrete.
		B.	Surface Preparation - Steel: Test prior to installation for reaction between i) installation adhesive and steel finish, and ii) between steel and any mechanical fix used.
		C.	Surface Preparation - Timber: Ensure timber is uncoated and in sound condition.
		D.	Surface Preparation - Painted/coated surfaces: Paint and most coatings do not have sufficient adhesion to the substrate to provide a permanent strong bond for stair nosing and similar fixings. Remove paint or other coatings and ensure a sound, clean substrate surface.
	3.4	INSTALLATION

		A.	Concrete: Fix using Bostik 1100 Fast Set (or equivalent) having cleaned full surface area. Allow 24 hours for curing with no foot traffic, area roped off. Mechanical fixing (if required) through pre-drilled holes.
		B.	Steel: Fix using Bostik 1100 Fast Set (or equivalent) having cleaned full surface. Allow 24 hours for curing with no foot traffic, area roped off. Mechanical fixing (if required) through pre-drilled holes.
		C.	Timber: Fix using Bostik 1100 Fast Set (or equivalent) having cleaned full surface. Allow 24 hours for curing with no foot traffic, area roped off. Mechanical fixing through pre-drilled holes.
	3.5	CLEANING
		A.	Cleaning: Regular cleaning to remove built up dirt will ensure the photo-luminescence continues performing to specification. Mopping, brushing, hose water cleaning or wiping with a cloth will keep the photoluminescent surfaces clean.
		B.	Cleaning Materials: Tests show that products are not affected by most cleaning chemicals, however the use of highly alkaline (greater than pH of 12) undiluted cleaning chemicals should be avoided.
	3.6	PROTECTION
		A.	Protection: Protect installed product from damage during final construction phase. Heavy objects must not be allowed to come in contact with the installed products.
