QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.
Manufacturer Qualifications: Minimum 5 year experience with manufacturing process of similar products.

PRE-INSTALLATION MEETINGS
A.
Convene minimum two weeks prior to starting work of this section.
1.7
DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A.
Deliver and store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging bearing the brand name and manufacturer's identification until ready for installation.
B.
Handling: Handle materials to avoid damage.
1.8
PROJECT CONDITIONS
A.
Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's recommended limits.
1.9
SEQUENCING
A.
Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
1.10
WARRANTY
A.
Manufacturer shall warrant product and process in approved applications for the following terms:
1.
Lifetime Warranty for Above Ground general uses.
2.
Lifetime Warranty for Ground Contact and Fresh Water general uses.

** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** MicroPro/LifeWood pressure treated wood is lighter in color compared to current copper based treated wood products. The unique appearance of MicroPro/LifeWood treated products will help differentiate the product in the marketplace. The attractive color allows DIYers and contractors to build pressure treated projects using treated wood that is lighter, fresher, and more natural in appearance.

WOOD PRESERVATIVE

Method: Micronized copper pressure treated wood process.
B.
Process: MicroPro/LifeWood pressure treated wood as manufactured by Chicago Flameproof.

Product: MicroPro/LifeWood as manufactured by Koppers Performance Chemicals Inc. (KPC).

Listed ICC-ES Report number ICC ESR-2240.

MicroPro preserved wood meets all applicable major model building codes for:

Above ground.

Fresh water immersion.

Salt water splash zone.

Severe critical structural applications in ground contact.

2.3
FASTENERS
A.
Nails, Fasteners and Fittings:
1.
Hot-dipped galvanized or stainless steel fasteners and fittings are acceptable for use with MicroPro treated wood.
2.
Use in direct contact with aluminum.
 
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Fasteners - MicroPro technology offers many benefits including significantly improved corrosion performance. LifeWood brand pressure treated wood with MicroPro technology exhibit corrosion rates on metal products similar to untreated wood.
 
B.
For interior or exterior applications, use fasteners and hardware that are in compliance with the manufacturer's recommendations and the building codes for their intended use.
C.
Stainless Steel: Stainless steel fasteners and connectors for use with treated wood in severe exterior applications such as swimming pools, salt water exposure, etc. - Type 304 and 316 grades shall be used.
D.
Carbon steel fasteners shall be used for interior, above ground, weather-protected applications such as sill plates, interior framing and interior trusses.

INTERIOR WOOD-PRESERVATIVE-TREATED MATERlALS
A.
Preservative Treatment by Pressure Process: AWPA U1
 
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Category UC1 is suitable for interior dry locations; Category UC2 is suitable for interior damp locations. Delete category not required.

Kiln dry lumber and plywood after treatment to a maximum moisture content of 19 and 18 percent, respectively.
4.
Preservative Chemicals: Acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction and containing no arsenic or chromium.
5.
For exposed items indicated to receive transparent finish, do not use chemical formulations that contain colorants or that bleed through or otherwise adversely affect finishes.
6.
Do not use material that is warped or does not comply with requirements for untreated material.
7.
Mark lumber with treatment-quality mark of an inspection agency approved by the American Lumber Standard Committee's Board of Review.
a.
For exposed lumber indicated to receive a stained or natural finish, mark end or back of each piece or omit marking and provide certificates of treatment compliance issued by inspection agency.
8.
Mark plywood with appropriate classification marking of an inspection agency acceptable to authorities having jurisdiction.
