DESIGN / PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

A.
Design Requirements for Wall Systems:
1.
Provide to spacing indicated on the Drawings.
2.
System Design: Snow guard system as designed by the manufacturer shall be a complete system. All components of the system shall be supplied by the same manufacturer.
3.
Accessories and Fasteners: Accessories and fasteners shall be capable of resisting the design forces in accordance with local building code.
1.5
SUBMITTALS
A.
Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements.
B.
Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:
1.
Preparation instructions and recommendations.
2.
Storage and handling requirements and recommendations.
3.
Installation methods.
C.
Shop Drawings: Prepared specifically for this project; showing dimensions of metal roof snow guards and accessories, fastening details and connections and interface with other products.

D.
Selection Samples: For each finish product specified, two complete sets of color chips representing manufacturer's full range of available colors and patterns.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Installer Qualifications: Company specializing in installation of Metal Roof Snow Guard Products of the type specified with a minimum 3 years documented experience.

1.7
DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A.
Deliver components to job site properly packaged to provide protection against transportation damage.

Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging in a clean, dry location until ready for installation.
C.
Stack all materials to prevent damage and to allow for adequate ventilation.
1.8
SEQUENCING
A.
Ensure that products of this section are supplied to affected trades in time to prevent interruption of construction progress.
1.9
PROJECT CONDITIONS
A.
Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

MATERIALS
A.
Steel Sheet: Galvalume Steel Sheet, 55% Aluminum-Zinc Alloy-Coated by the Hot-Dip Process in conformance with ASTM A 792. Available in 22, 24 and 26 gauge sheet.
B.
Aluminum Sheet: Aluminum sheet conforming with ASTM B 209. Available in .032, .040 and .050 gauge sheet.
C.
Factory Finish: Kynar 500 PVDF resin-based coating, applied by the manufacturer on a continuous coil coating line.
1.
Standard top side color coating comprised of a 0.70 - 0.80 mil full strength, 70% Kynar 500/Hylar 5000 fluorocarbon (Polyvinylidene Fluoride PVF2) coating over urethane primer of 0.20 - 0.30 mil on finish side. Total face dry film thickness: 1.0 mil + 0.2 mil.
2.
Reverse side shall be coated with primer and wash coat of 0.30 mil plus or minus 0.05 mil.
3.
Finish shall conform to all tests for adhesion, flexibility, and longevity as specified by the Kynar 500 PVDF resin-based coating supplier.
4.

PART 3 EXECUTION
 
3.1
EXAMINATION
A.
Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
B.
If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
3.2
PREPARATION
A.
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation and the approved shop drawings.
B.
Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
3.3
INSTALLATION
A.
Install in accordance with snow guard manufacturer's instructions and the approved shop drawings. Coordinate the installation with the manufacturer of the roof substrate to which it is installed.

2.
Inspect all surfaces and full contact adhesive to the roof deck.
3.
Inspect any snow guard related waterproofing and replace or repair where necessary.
4.
Inspect tubing has bent or shows any other evidence of failure or damage, contact the manufacturer immediately.
5.
Inspect Barricade Plate set screw for tightness.

Inspect sealant around the perimeter. Re-apply any areas as needed.
3.
Inspect snow guards for slippage or peeling of the tape.

G.
Polycarbonate and/or Metal Snow Guards - Tube Adhesive and/or Tape Mounted:
1.
Inspect each snow guard to insure assembly is intact.

Inspect sealant around the perimeter. Remove and re-apply any areas that are no longer watertight.
3.
Inspect snow guards for slippage or pealing of the tape.
4.
Remove and reinstall these snow guards.
3.4
PROTECTION
A.
Protect installed products until completion of project.
B.
Install panels in such a manner that horizontal lines are true and level and vertical lines are plumb.
C.
Remove protective strippable film prior to installation of panels.
D.
Attach panels using manufacturer's fasteners, spaced in accordance with approved shop drawings.
E.
Do not allow panels or trim to come into contact with dissimilar materials.
F.
Remove and replace any panels or components, which are damaged beyond successful repair.
3.5
CLEANING
A.
Clean any grease, finger marks or stains from the panels per manufacturer's recommendations.
B.
Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
3.6
