DESIGN / PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS

Smoke Rated Doors:
1.
Air Infiltration: Maximum leakage rate at ambient temperature shall not exceed less than 1 CFM/ft2 of opening at 0.3 in. of water. At 400 degrees F the rate of leakage shall not exceed less than 1 CFM/ft2 of opening at 0.3 in. of water.
2.
Operating Temperature Range: Minus 0 to plus 100 degrees F (minus 18 to plus 38 degrees C).

A.
Submit under provisions of Section 01 30 00 - Administrative Requirements.
B.
Product Data: Manufacturer's data sheets on each product to be used, including:

Preparation instructions and recommendations.

Operation and maintenance data.

QUALITY ASSURANCE
A.
Manufacturer Qualifications: Manufacturer with a minimum of 5 years successful experience in the fabrication of intensive care doors of the type required for this project. Manufacturer shall be capable of providing field service representation during installation, approving acceptable installer and approving application method.
B.
Installer Qualifications: Installer with documented experienced performing the work of this section who has specialized in the installation of work similar to that required for this project and who is acceptable to product manufacturer.

C.
Mock-Up: Provide a mock-up for evaluation of surface preparation techniques and application workmanship.

DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING
A.
Package hardware items individually with necessary fasteners and installation templates when necessary; label and identify each package with door opening code to match door schedule.

Store products in manufacturer's unopened packaging until ready for installation.
C.
Provide protection from exposure to harmful weather conditions and vandalism.
D.
Store materials in a dry, warm, ventilated weathertight location.

PROJECT CONDITIONS
A.
Maintain environmental conditions (temperature, humidity, and ventilation) within limits recommended by manufacturer for optimum results. Do not install products under environmental conditions outside manufacturer's absolute limits.

A.
Provide special wrenches and tools applicable to each different or special hardware component.

Doors provided standard with recessed pull handles or optional positive latching handles. Available in single, biparting, and telescoping configurations.

Horton Profiler-ICU Manual Sliding/Slide Swing Door Systems:
1.
Door Units: Include header with track, jambs, sliding door panel(s), and sidelite(s). Units can be mounted within rough opening with sliding panel(s) sliding along sidelite or surface mounted with sliding panel(s) sliding along wall. Units of the following unit types:

Rollers are steel, high quality ball bearing wheels 1-1/4 inches (32 mm) diameter. Anti-Derailing is accomplished by means of a continuous aluminum extrusion full length of slide panel travel.
5.
Sliding Panels and Sidelites: Extruded aluminum, 1-3/4 inches (44 mm) deep with narrow stile construction. Provide weather-stripping along vertical rails of sliding panel(s) and swing-out sidelite(s). Concealed guides to stabilize bottom of sliding panel. Standard glazing prep is for 1/4 inches (6 mm) glass.

Total weight limit per panel shall be:

Self-Closing Mechanism: Mechanical fully concealed within header requiring no electrical power. Coiled spring under tension attached to sliding door shall work with hydraulic damper to provide adjustable 6-8 lbs of closing force. Manual opening force shall not exceed 12 lbs.

Hold-Open:
a.
Shall be engaged when 8-12 lbs. of force is applied to door panel in full open position.
b.
Shall be disengaged when 6-8 lbs. of force is applied to door panel

Option: A recessed pull shall be provided on each side of the sliding panel. No locks shall be provided.
 
** NOTE TO SPECIFIER ** Profiler-ICU Smoke Rated Door Systems exceed the air infiltration requirements of NFPA 105. Systems are available with concealed high temperature Gasketing or brush designs. Systems also have a self closing option with no power required and additional glazing including mini-blinds and fire rated panels.
 
C.
Horton Profiler-ICU Smoke Rated Slide Swing Door Systems.
1.
Door Units: Include header with track, jambs, sliding door panel(s), and sidelite(s). Units mounted within rough opening with sliding panel along sidelite. Units will be single-slide and the following types:

Type 110: Slide-swing panel shall slide along exterior side of fixed sidelite utilizing floor mounted guide.
b.
Type 310: Slide-swing panel shall slide along interior side of swing-out sidelite utilizing floor mounted guide.
c.
Type 310 Trackless: Slide-Swing panel shall slide along interior side utilizing trackless floor system. No floor track/guide or recess required.
2.
Air Infiltration Rating: Units tested and certified by Omega Point to be in compliance with UL 1784. Maximum leakage rate at ambient temperature shall be less than 1 CFM/ft2 of opening at 0.3 in. of water. At 400 degrees F the rate of leakage shall be less than 1 CFM/ft[2] of opening at 0.3 in. of water.
3.

Sliding Panels and Sidelites: Extruded aluminum, 1-3/4 inches (44 mm) deep with narrow stile construction. Weather-stripping provided along perimeter of sliding panel and swing-out sidelite. Standard glazing prep to be for 1/4 inch (6 mm) tempered glass. Wet glazed with red high temperature silicone sealant at corners.
a.
Total weight limit per panel shall be:
1)
200 lbs. (90.7 kg) for slide panel (non-breakout)
2)
156 lbs. (70.7 kg) for UL listed slide-swing panel

Door Units: Includes header with roller track, carrier assemblies, framing jambs, sliding door panel, sidelite, and accessories required for complete installation. Units will be single-slide as follows:
a.
Door Type 310 Trackless: Slide-swing panel ' SX' shall slide along interior side of swing-out sidelite ' SO' (door must be in full open position) utilizing trackless floor system with no floor track/guide or recess required.
b.
Mounting Type: Perimeter mounted within rough opening with sliding panel(s) sliding along sidelite.
c.
Units to provide minimum of 44 inches (1118 mm) of clear slide opening width in compliance with 2010 FGI Guidelines for Airborne Infection Isolation Rooms (AIIR).
2.
Air Infiltration Rating: Units tested and certified to be in compliance with ASTM E 283 and UL 1784. Testing to be done by nationally recognized laboratory. Maximum leakage rate at ambient temperature shall be less than 1 CFM/ft2 of opening at 0.3 in. of water.
3.
Operating Temperature Range: Minus 0 to plus 100 degrees F (minus 18 to plus 38 degrees C).
4.
FGI Guidelines Compliance: Units tested for air leakage and are in compliance with the 2010 FGI Guidelines for Airborne Infection Isolation Room (AIIR) systems.
5.
Header: Profiler Header, slim 4 inches (102 mm) deep by 6 inches (152 mm) high aluminum construction with extruded z-profile reinforcement for dead load and lateral strength. Header shall have removable face plate for service and adjustment of operator and controls. Header mounts flush to 4 inch framing jambs.
6.
Self-Closing Mechanism: Unit shall be mechanical requiring no electrical power and shall be fully concealed within header.
a.
Standard Hold-Open: Coiled spring under tension attached to sliding door working with hydraulic damper:
1)
Shall be engaged when 8-12 lbs. of force is applied to door panel in full open position.
2)
Shall be disengaged when 6-8 lbs. of force is applied to door panel.
b.
Optional Electro-Magnetic Hold-Open:
1)
Device shall be tied to building fire alarm system allowing the door to stay open and then automatically close when the fire alarm is triggered without user intervention.
c.
Self-Closing mechanism shall comply with 2010 FGI Guidelines for Airborne Infection Isolation Rooms (AIIR).

Carrier Assembly and Header Roller Track: Carrier assemblies supports door panels with minimum four rollers per panel. Rollers are steel, high quality ball bearing wheels 1-1/4 inch (32 mm) diameter. Anti-Derailing is accomplished by means of a continuous aluminum extrusion full length of slide panel travel. Overhead header roller track are continuous aluminum, nylon covered, and replaceable.
8.
Slide-Swing Panels and Swing-Out Sidelites: Extruded aluminum, 1-3/4 inches (44 mm) deep with narrow stile construction and with perimeter seals. Floor seal to allow between an 1/8 to 1/2 inch (3 mm to 13 mm) gap to finished floor. An intermediate, horizontal rail (muntin bar), 2-1/4 inches (57 mm) wide, shall be furnished for safety and division of glass. Standard bottom rail shall be 4 inches (102 mm) tall. Standard glazing prep to be for 1/4 inch (6 mm) tempered glass. Total weight limit per panel shall be 156 lbs (70.7 kg) for UL listed slide-swing panel.

Swing-out Feature: After ' SO' flush bolt has been released, panels can swing out 90 degrees with maximum 50 lbs. of force applied at the strike rail. Breakout mechanism shall provide support across full width of the door, in normal operating mode. In breakout mode, torsion assembly shall support weight of the door to minimize drop.
10.
Jambs/Frame: Extruded aluminum. Jamb dimensions to be:

Corner block type with 3/16 inches steel backup plate construction, mechanically secured with minimum of four hardened steel screws. Sash consists of snap-in glass stops, snap-in glazing beads and vinyl gaskets.

Weatherstripping material captured in extruded aluminum door panel. Door nosing weatherstrip to be spring-loaded adjustable astragal type. Surface applied self-adhesive weatherstripping not acceptable.
3.
Provide doors t with adjustable glass setting block to allow for adjusting of door to meet site conditions eliminating the need for additional shims.

PART 3 EXECUTION
 
3.1
EXAMINATION
A.
Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared.
B.
Verify that other trades are complete with their required work before installing the door system.
C.
Mounting surfaces shall be plumb, straight and secure; substrates shall be of proper dimension and material; material which door is anchored to shall be capable of supporting the door system and associated loads.
D.
If substrate preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
3.2
PREPARATION
A.
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
B.
Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
3.3
INSTALLATION
A.
Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B.
Install door units plumb, level and true to line, without warp or rack of frames or sash with manufacturer's prescribed tolerances. Provide support and anchor in place.
C.
Comply with AAMA 101, Appendix Dissimilar Materials by separating aluminum materials and other corrodible surfaces from sources of corrosion or electrolytic action contact points.
D.
Provide all fasteners required for installation of the automatic sliding door system.
E.
After repeated operation of the completed installation, inspect door hardware for optimum operating condition and safety.
F.
Adjust door equipment for correct function and smooth operation.
G.
Clean all metal surfaces promptly after installation.
