Verify the requirements for turtle glass with local authorities in coastal environments. Laminated glass uses a vinyl interlayer to provide added security against impact, comfort with higher STC ratings.

Some governing authorities require the use of turtle glass which uses tinted glass to achieve an industry-approved, inside-to-outside visible light transmittance value of 45 percent or less (visible spectrum = 400 to 700 nanometers).
