VELUX Commercial SUN TUNNEL skylights are designed for commercial flat and sloped roofing applications that will benefit from daylight to reduce energy loads and improve performance and comfort. Ideal applications for commercial SUN TUNNEL skylights include schools, retail spaces, and warehouses that require a cost effective daylight solution. VELUX SUN TUNNEL skylights provide a cost effective method to transfer daylight through the roof for an open ceiling application and greater cost savings can be achieved as run lengths increase for suspended ceiling application.
VELUX Residential SUN TUNNEL skylights provide a low cost method of transferring daylight through sloped roofing applications to interior spaces that benefit from daylight to reduce energy loads and enhance the visual quality of residential spaces. VELUX SUN TUNNEL skylights add value and increase the quality of life while maintaining privacy. The round highly reflective SUN TUNNEL light shaft requires no structural framing and can be assembled within minutes.
The SUN TUNNEL skylight is a configurable system that allows the specifier to select only the components required for specific project application, with adjustable flashing heights, straight and adjustable angle tunnel components, and diffuser options.
SUN TUNNEL skylights are frequently a crucial element in energy saving daylighting strategies for LEED-certified or other green building projects.
VELUX test facilities ensure that new products comply with regulations and market demands for technical performance. They ensure that our products are able to withstand the most different climatic conditions in the markets where they are sold. Our test procedures include load capacity, air and water tightness in a test chamber and a weather simulator, mechanical tests, impact test results, durability tests, U-factor and solar heat gain tests, burn brand resistance and visual inspection of the surface quality.

VELUX Sun Tunnel glass pan flashed tubular daylighting device: Models TLR skylight provides the ultimate low profile appearance. Tunnel sections quickly clip together with the Flexi-Loc tunnel connection system. This unit is only available in 14 inch (356 mm) diameter. The interior ceiling ring assembly includes thermal pane frosted lower diffuser and a highly transmissive engineered upper acrylic pane to maximize light transmission and diffusion.

PART 3 EXECUTION
 
3.1
EXAMINATION
A.
Do not begin installation until substrates and rough openings have been properly prepared.
B.
Examine openings, substrates, structural support, anchorage, and conditions, with Installer present, for compliance with requirements for installation tolerances and other conditions affecting performance of the Work.
C.
If substrate and rough opening preparation is the responsibility of another installer, notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation before proceeding.
3.2
PREPARATION
A.
Clean surfaces thoroughly prior to installation.
B.
Prepare surfaces using the methods recommended by the manufacturer for achieving the best result for the substrate under the project conditions.
3.3
INSTALLATION
A.
Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions. Coordinate installation of units with substrates, air and vapor retarders, roof insulation, roofing membrane, and flashing as required to ensure that each element of the Work performs properly and that finished installation is weather tight.

B.
For sloped roof installation, install tubular unit skylights on curbs specified in another sections with tops of curbs parallel to finished roof slope.
C.
Where metal surfaces of tubular unit skylights will contact incompatible metal or corrosive substrates, including preservative-treated wood, apply bituminous coating on concealed metal surfaces, or provide other permanent separation recommended in writing by tubular unit skylight manufacturer.
D.
Install tubular unit skylight curb counter flashing to produce weatherproof seal with curb and overlap with roofing system termination at top of curb.
E.
Provide thermal isolation when components penetrate or disrupt building insulation. Pack fibrous insulation in rough opening to maintain continuity of thermal barriers.
F.
Coordinate attachment and seal of perimeter air and vapor barrier material.
G.
Align tubular daylighting device free of warp or twist, maintain dimensional tolerances.

Daylight Control Assemblies: Test and adjust daylight control assemblies for proper operation.
D.
Protect tubular unit skylight surfaces from contact with contaminating substances resulting from construction operations.

Touch-up, repair or replace damaged products before Substantial Completion.
